1 A Song. A Psalm. Of Asaph.
2 \83:1\O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.
3 \83:2\For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.
4 \83:3\They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.
5 \83:4\They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory.
6 \83:5\For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:
7 \83:6\The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;
8 \83:7\Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;
9 \83:8\Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)
10 \83:9\Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:
11 \83:10\Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.
12 \83:11\Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:
13 \83:12\Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.
14 \83:13\O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.
15 \83:14\As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,
16 \83:15\So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm.
17 \83:16\Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.
18 \83:17\Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;
19 \83:18\So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.
1 Cantico di Salmo di Asaf. O DIO, non istartene cheto; Non tacere, e non riposarti, o Dio.
2 Perciocchè ecco, i tuoi nemici romoreggiano; E quelli che ti odiano alzano il capo.
3 Hanno preso un cauto consiglio contro al tuo popolo, E si son consigliati contro a quelli che son nascosti appo te.
4 Hanno detto: Venite, e distruggiamoli, Sì che non sieno più nazione, E che il nome d’Israele non sia più ricordato.
5 Perciocchè si son di pari consentimento consigliati insieme, Ed han fatta lega contro a te.
6 Le tende di Edom, e gl’Ismaeliti; I Moabiti, e gli Hagareni;
7 I Ghebaliti, gli Ammoniti, e gli Amalechiti; I Filistei, insieme con gli abitanti di Tiro;
8 Gli Assiri eziandio si son congiunti con loro; Sono stati il braccio de’ figliuoli di Lot. Sela
9 Fa’ loro come tu facesti a Madian; Come a Sisera, come a Iabin, al torrente di Chison;
10 I quali furono sconfitti in Endor, E furono per letame alla terra.
11 Fa’ che i lor principi sieno come Oreb e Zeeb; E tutti i lor signori come Zeba, e Salmunna;
12 Perciocchè hanno detto: Conquistiamoci gli abitacoli di Dio.
13 Dio mio, falli essere come una palla; Come della stoppia al vento.
14 Come il fuoco brucia un bosco, E come la fiamma divampa i monti.
15 Così perseguitali colla tua tempesta, E conturbali col tuo turbo.
16 Empi le lor facce di vituperio; E fa’ che cerchino il tuo Nome, o Signore.
17 Sieno svergognati, e conturbati in perpetuo; E sieno confusi, e periscano;
18 E conoscano che tu, il cui Nome è il Signore, Sei il solo Altissimo sopra tutta la terra
