1 And when the day of Pentecost was now accomplishing, they were all together in one place. 2 And there came suddenly a sound out of heaven as of a violent impetuous blowing, and filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them parted tongues, as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave to them to speak forth.

5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, pious men, from every nation of those under heaven. 6 But the rumour of this having spread, the multitude came together and were confounded, because each one heard them speaking in his own dialect. 7 And all were amazed and wondered, saying, Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galilaeans? 8 and how do we hear them each in our own dialect in which we have been born, 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, and Judaea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya which adjoin Cyrene, and the Romans sojourning here, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own tongues the great things of God? 12 And they were all amazed and in perplexity, saying one to another, What would this mean? 13 But others mocking said, They are full of new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them, Men of Judaea, and all ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words: 15 for these are not full of wine, as ye suppose, for it is the third hour of the day; 16 but this is that which was spoken through the prophet Joel, 17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your elders shall dream with dreams; 18 yea, even upon my bondmen and upon my bondwomen in those days will I pour out of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. 19 And I will give wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 the sun shall be changed to darkness and the moon to blood, before the great and gloriously appearing day of the Lord come. 21 And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22 Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazaraean, a man borne witness to by God to you by works of power and wonders and signs, which God wrought by him in your midst, as yourselves know 23 — him, given up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, by the hand of lawless men, have crucified and slain. 24 Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death, inasmuch as it was not possible that he should be held by its power; 25 for David says as to him, I foresaw the Lord continually before me, because he is at my right hand that I may not be moved. 26 Therefore has my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted; yea more, my flesh also shall dwell in hope, 27 for thou wilt not leave my soul in hades, nor wilt thou give thy gracious one to see corruption. 28 Thou hast made known to me the paths of life, thou wilt fill me with joy with thy countenance. 29 Brethren, let it be allowed to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he has both died and been buried, and his monument is amongst us unto this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, of the fruit of his loins to set upon his throne; 31 he, seeing it before, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither has he been left in hades nor his flesh seen corruption. 32 This Jesus has God raised up, whereof all we are witnesses. 33 Having therefore been exalted by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which ye behold and hear. 34 For David has not ascended into the heavens, but he says himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand 35 until I have put thine enemies to be the footstool of thy feet. 36 Let the whole house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him, this Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37 And having heard it they were pricked in heart, and said to Peter and the other apostles, What shall we do, brethren? 38 And Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For to you is the promise and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God may call. 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. 41 Those then who had accepted his word were baptised; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.

42 And they persevered in the teaching and fellowship of the apostles, in breaking of bread and prayers. 43 And fear was upon every soul, and many wonders and signs took place through the apostles' means. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common, 45 and sold their possessions and substance, and distributed them to all, according as any one might have need. 46 And every day, being constantly in the temple with one accord, and breaking bread in the house, they received their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God, and having favour with all the people; and the Lord added to the assembly daily those that were to be saved.

Cap. 10:46; 19:6.1 Cor. 12:10,20,30;13:1;14:2. în alte limbi, după cum le dădea Duhul să vorbească. 5 Și se aflau atunci în Ierusalim iudei, oameni cucernici din toate neamurile care sunt sub cer. 6 Când s-a auzit sunetul acela, mulțimea s-a adunat și a rămas încremenită, pentru că fiecare îi auzea vorbind în limba lui. 7 Toți se mirau, se minunau și ziceau unii către alții: „Toți aceștia care vorbesc nu sunt galileeni*Cap. 1:11.? 8 Cum dar îi auzim vorbind fiecăruia din noi în limba noastră, în care ne-am născut? 9 Parți, mezi, elamiți, locuitori din Mesopotamia, Iudeea, Capadocia, Pont, Asia, 10 Frigia, Pamfilia, Egipt, părțile Libiei dinspre Cirene, oaspeți din Roma, iudei sau prozeliți, 11 cretani și arabi, îi auzim vorbind în limbile noastre lucrurile minunate ale lui Dumnezeu!" 12 Toți erau uimiți, nu știau ce să creadă și ziceau unii către alții: „Ce vrea să zică aceasta?" 13 Dar alții își băteau joc și ziceau: „Sunt plini de must!" 14 Atunci, Petru s-a sculat în picioare cu cei unsprezece, a ridicat glasul și le-a zis: „Bărbați iudei și voi toți cei care locuiți în Ierusalim, să știți lucrul acesta și ascultați cuvintele mele! 15 Oamenii aceștia nu sunt beți, cum vă închipuiți voi, căci*1 Tes. 5:7. nu este decât al treilea ceas din zi. 16 Ci aceasta este ce a fost spus prin prorocul Ioel: 17 ‘«În*Is. 44:3.Ezec. 11:19;36:27.Ioel 2:28,29.Zah. 12:10.Ioan 7:38. zilele de pe urmă», zice Dumnezeu, «voi*Cap. 10:45. turna din Duhul Meu peste orice făptură; feciorii voștri și fetele*Cap. 21:9. voastre vor proroci, tinerii voștri vor avea vedenii și bătrânii voștri vor visa vise! 18 Da, chiar și peste robii Mei și peste roabele Mele voi turna, în zilele acelea, din Duhul Meu și*Cap. 21:4,9,10.1 Cor. 12:10,28;14:1. vor proroci. 19 Voi*Ioel 2:30,31. face să se arate semne sus în cer și minuni jos pe pământ, sânge, foc și un vârtej de fum; 20 soarele*Mat. 24:29.Marcu 13:24.Luca 21:25. se va preface în întuneric, și luna, în sânge înainte ca să vină ziua Domnului, ziua aceea mare și strălucită. 21 Atunci, oricine*Rom. 10:13. va chema Numele Domnului va fi mântuit.»’

22 Bărbați israeliți, ascultați cuvintele acestea! Pe Isus din Nazaret, om adeverit de Dumnezeu înaintea voastră prin*Ioan 3:2;14:10,11. Cap. 10:38.Evr. 2:4. minunile, semnele și lucrările pline de putere pe care le-a făcut Dumnezeu prin El în mijlocul vostru, după cum bine știți, 23 pe Omul acesta, dat*Mat. 26:24.Luca 22:22;24:44. Cap. 3:18;4:28. în mâinile*Cap. 5:30. voastre după sfatul hotărât și după știința mai dinainte a lui Dumnezeu, voi L-ați răstignit și L-ați omorât prin mâna celor fărădelege. 24 Dar*Vers. 32. Cap. 3:15;4:10;10:40;13:30,34;17:31.Rom. 4:24;8:11.1 Cor. 6:14;15:15.2 Cor. 4:14.Gal. 1:1.Efes. 1:20.Col. 2:12.1 Tes. 1:10.Evr. 13:20.1 Pet. 1:24. Dumnezeu L-a înviat, dezlegându-I legăturile morții, pentru că nu era cu putință să fie ținut de ea. 25 Căci David zice despre El:

‘Eu aveam*Ps. 16:8. totdeauna pe Domnul înaintea mea, pentru că El este la dreapta mea, ca să nu mă clatin.

26 De aceea, mi se bucură inima și mi se veselește limba; chiar și trupul mi se va odihni în nădejde, 27 căci nu-mi vei lăsa sufletul în Locuința morților și nu vei îngădui ca Sfântul Tău să vadă putrezirea. 28 Mi-ai făcut cunoscute căile vieții și mă vei umple de bucurie cu starea Ta de față.’ 29 Cât despre*1 Împ. 2:10. Cap. 13:36. patriarhul David, să-mi fie îngăduit, fraților, să vă spun fără sfială că a murit și a fost îngropat, și mormântul lui este în mijlocul nostru până în ziua de azi. 30 Fiindcă David era proroc și*2 Sam. 7:12,13.Ps. 132:11.Luca 1:32,69.Rom. 1:3.2 Tim. 2:8. știa că Dumnezeu îi făgăduise cu jurământ că va ridica pe unul din urmașii săi pe scaunul lui de domnie, 31 despre învierea lui Hristos a prorocit și a vorbit el, când a zis că*Ps. 16:10. Cap. 13:35. sufletul lui nu va fi lăsat în Locuința morților și trupul lui nu va vedea putrezirea. 32 Dumnezeu a înviat pe*Vers. 24. acest Isus, și noi*Cap. 1:8. toți suntem martori ai Lui. 33 Și acum, odată ce S-a înălțat*Cap. 5:31.Filip. 2:9.Evr. 10:12. prin dreapta lui Dumnezeu și a primit*Ioan 14:26;15:26;16:7,13. Cap. 1:4. de la Tatăl făgăduința Duhului Sfânt*Cap. 10:45.Efes. 4:8., a turnat ce vedeți și auziți. 34 Căci David nu s-a suit în ceruri, ci el singur zice: ‘Domnul a zis*Ps. 110:1.Mat. 22:44.1 Cor. 15:25.Efes. 1:20.Evr. 1:13. Domnului meu: «Șezi la dreapta Mea 35 până ce voi pune pe vrăjmașii Tăi sub picioarele Tale.»’ 36 Să știe bine dar toată casa lui Israel că Dumnezeu a*Cap. 5:31. făcut Domn și Hristos pe acest Isus pe care L-ați răstignit voi."

37 După ce au auzit aceste cuvinte, ei au*Zah. 12:10.Luca 3:10. Cap. 9:6;16:30. rămas străpunși în inimă și au zis lui Petru și celorlalți apostoli: „Fraților, ce să facem?" 38 „Pocăiți-vă*Luca 24:47. Cap. 3:19.", le-a zis Petru, „și fiecare din voi să fie botezat în Numele lui Isus Hristos, spre iertarea păcatelor voastre; apoi veți primi darul Sfântului Duh. 39 Căci făgăduința aceasta este pentru voi, pentru*Ioel 2:28. Cap. 3:25. copiii voștri și pentru*Cap. 10:45;11:15,18;14:27;15:3,8,14.Efes. 2:13,17. toți cei ce sunt departe acum, în oricât de mare număr îi va chema Domnul Dumnezeul nostru." 40 Și, cu multe alte cuvinte, mărturisea, îi îndemna și zicea: „Mântuiți-vă din mijlocul acestui neam ticălos." 41 Cei ce au primit propovăduirea lui au fost botezați; și în ziua aceea, la numărul ucenicilor s-au adăugat aproape trei mii de suflete. 42 Ei*Cap. 1:14. Vers. 46.Rom. 12:12.Efes. 6:18.Col. 4:2.Evr. 10:25. stăruiau în învățătura apostolilor, în legătura frățească, în frângerea pâinii și în rugăciuni. 43 Fiecare era plin de frică, și prin apostoli se făceau multe*Marcu 16:17. Cap. 4:33;5:12. minuni și semne. 44 Toți cei ce credeau erau împreună la un loc și aveau*Cap. 4:32,34. toate de obște. 45 Își vindeau ogoarele și averile, și banii îi împărțeau*Is. 58:7. între toți, după nevoile fiecăruia. 46 Toți*Cap. 1:14. împreună erau nelipsiți de la Templu în*Luca 24:53. Cap. 5:42. fiecare zi, frângeau*Cap. 20:7. pâinea acasă și luau hrana cu bucurie și curăție de inimă. 47 Ei lăudau pe Dumnezeu și erau plăcuți*Luca 2:52. Cap. 4:33.Rom. 14:18. înaintea întregului norod. Și Domnul*Cap. 5:14;11:24. adăuga în fiecare zi la numărul lor pe cei ce erau mântuiți.
