1 Thou shalt not sacrifice to Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim an ox or sheep wherein is a defect, or anything bad; for it is an abomination to Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim2 If there be found in thy midst in any of thy gates which Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim giveth thee, man or woman, that doeth what is evil in the sight of Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim in transgressing his covenant, 3 and goeth and serveth other gods, and boweth down to them, either to the sun or to the moon, or to the whole host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 4 and it be told thee, and thou hearest of it; then thou shalt make thorough inquiry, and if it be truth and the thing be certain, that this abomination hath been wrought in Israel, 5 thou shalt bring forth that man or that woman, who committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, the man or the woman, and shalt stone them with stones, that they die. 6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is to die be put to death: he shall not be put to death at the mouth of one witness. 7 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hands of all the people; and thou shalt put evil away from thy midst.

8 If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between cause and cause, and between stroke and stroke, matters of controversy within thy gates, then shalt thou arise, and go up to the place which Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim will choose. 9 And thou shalt come unto the priests, the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall declare unto thee the sentence of judgment; 10 and thou shalt do according to the tenor of the word, which they of that place which Jehovah will choose shall declare unto thee; and thou shalt take heed to do according to all that they instruct thee: 11 according to the sentence of the law which they shall declare unto thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the word which they shall declare unto thee, to the right hand, or the left. 12 And the man that shall act presumptuously, and not hearken unto the priest that standeth to serve there before Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim or unto the judge, that man shall die; and thou shalt put away evil from Israel. 13 And all the people shall hear, and fear, and no more act presumptuously.

14 When thou comest unto the land which Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are about me; 15 thou shalt only set him king over thee whom Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim will choose: from among thy brethren shalt thou set a king over thee; thou mayest not set a foreigner over thee, who is not thy brother. 16 Only he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor lead back the people to Egypt, to multiply horses; for Jehovah hath said unto you, Ye shall not return again any more that way. 17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away; neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. 18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests, the Levites; 19 and it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear Jehovah his God*GodHebrew: Elohim to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them; 20 that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left; that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his sons, in the midst of Israel.

2 Se*Cap. 13:6. va găsi poate în mijlocul tău, într-una din cetățile pe care ți le dă Domnul Dumnezeul tău, un bărbat sau o femeie care să facă ce este rău înaintea Domnului Dumnezeului tău și care să calce*Ios. 7:11,15;23:16.Jud. 2:20.2 Împ. 18:12.Osea 8:1. legământul Lui, 3 care să meargă după alți dumnezei, ca să le slujească și să se închine înaintea lor, după Soare*Cap. 4:19.Iov 31:26., Lună sau toată oștirea cerurilor, așa cum eu*Ier. 7:22,23,31;19:5;32:35. n-am poruncit. 4 De îndată ce vei*Cap. 13:12,14. lua cunoștință și vei afla lucrul acesta, să faci cercetări amănunțite. Dacă lucrul este adevărat, dacă faptul este întemeiat, dacă urâciunea aceasta a fost săvârșită în Israel, 5 atunci să aduci la porțile cetății tale pe bărbatul sau femeia care va fi vinovată de această faptă rea și să ucizi cu pietre*Lev. 24:14,16. Cap. 13:10.Ios. 7:25. sau să pedepsești cu moartea pe bărbatul acela sau pe femeia aceea. 6 Cel vinovat de moarte să fie omorât pe mărturia*Num. 35:30. Cap. 19:15.Mat. 18:16.Ioan 8:17.2 Cor. 13:1.1 Tim. 5:19.Evr. 10:28. a doi sau trei martori; să nu fie omorât pe mărturia unui singur martor. 7 Întâi mâna*Cap. 13:9.Fapte 7:58. martorilor să se ridice asupra lui ca să-l omoare și apoi mâna întregului popor. Să scoți*Vers. 12. Cap. 13:5;19:19. astfel răul din mijlocul tău.

8 Dacă ți*2 Cron. 19:10.Hag. 2:11.Mal. 2:7. se va părea prea greu de judecat o pricină privitoare la un omor*Exod 21:13,20,22,28;22:2.Num. 35:11,16,19. Cap. 19:4,10,11., la o neînțelegere sau la o rănire și va da prilej la ceartă înăuntrul cetății tale, să te scoli și să te*Cap. 12:5;19:17.Ps. 122:5. sui la locul pe care-l va alege Domnul Dumnezeul tău. 9 Să te*Ier. 18:18. duci la preoți, leviți și la cel ce va împlini atunci slujba de judecător*Cap. 19:17., să-i întrebi, și ei îți vor spune*Ezec. 44:24. hotărârea legii. 10 Să faci cum îți vor spune ei în locul pe care-l va alege Domnul și să ai grijă să faci cum te vor învăța ei. 11 Să faci după legea pe care te vor învăța și după hotărârea pe care o vor rosti ei, să nu te abați de la ce-ți vor spune ei, nici la dreapta, nici la stânga. 12 Omul*Num. 15:30.Ezra 10:8.Osea 4:4. care, din mândrie, nu va asculta de preotul pus*Cap. 18:5,7. acolo ca să slujească Domnului Dumnezeului tău sau care nu va asculta de judecător, omul acela să fie pedepsit cu moartea. Să scoți*Cap. 13:5. astfel răul din mijlocul lui Israel, 13 pentru ca tot*Cap. 13:11;19:20. poporul să audă, să se teamă și să nu se mai îngâmfe.

14 După ce vei intra în țara pe care ți-o dă Domnul Dumnezeul tău și o vei stăpâni, după ce-ți vei așeza locuința și vei zice: ‘Vreau să pun peste*1 Sam. 8:5,19,20. mine un împărat, ca toate neamurile care mă înconjoară’, 15 să pui peste tine ca împărat pe acela pe care-l*1 Sam. 9:15;10:24;16:12.1 Cron. 22:10. va alege Domnul Dumnezeul tău, și anume să iei un împărat din*Ier. 30:21. mijlocul fraților tăi; nu vei putea să pui împărat pe un străin, care să nu fie fratele tău. 16 Dar să n-aibă mulți cai*1 Împ. 4:26;10:26,28.Ps. 20:7. și să nu întoarcă*Is. 31:1.Ezec. 17:15. pe popor în Egipt ca să aibă mulți cai, căci Domnul*Exod 13:17.Num. 14:3,4. v-a zis: ‘Să nu vă mai*Cap. 28:68.Osea 11:5.Ier. 42:15. întoarceți pe drumul acela.’ 17 Să nu aibă un mare număr de neveste, ca să nu i se abată*1 Împ. 11:3,4. inima, și să nu strângă mari grămezi de argint și aur. 18 Când se va așeza*2 Împ. 11:12. pe scaunul de domnie al împărăției lui, să scrie pentru el, într-o carte, o copie a acestei legi, pe care s-o ia de la preoții*Cap. 31:9,26.2 Împ. 22:8. din neamul leviților. 19 Va trebui*Ios. 1:8.Ps. 119:97,98. s-o aibă cu el și s-o citească în toate zilele vieții lui, ca să învețe să se teamă de Domnul Dumnezeul lui, să păzească și să împlinească toate cuvintele din legea aceasta și toate poruncile acestea, 20 pentru ca inima lui să nu se înalțe mai presus de frații lui și să nu se abată*Cap. 5:32.1 Împ. 15:5. de la poruncile acestea nici la dreapta, nici la stânga și să aibă astfel multe zile în împărăția lui, el și copiii lui, în mijlocul lui Israel.
