1 If one be found slain in the land which Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim giveth thee to possess, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath smitten him, 2 then thine elders and thy judges shall go forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain; 3 and the city that is nearest unto him that is slain, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer that hath not been wrought with, that hath not drawn in the yoke; 4 and the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto an ever-flowing watercourse, which is not tilled, nor is it sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the watercourse; 5 and the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath chosen to do service unto him, and to bless in the name of Jehovah; and according to their word shall be every controversy and every stroke. 6 And all the elders of that city, that are nearest unto him that is slain, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck is broken in the watercourse, 7 and shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it. 8 Forgive thy people Israel, whom thou, Jehovah, hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood to the charge of thy people Israel; and the blood shall be expiated for them. 9 So shalt thou put away innocent blood from thy midst, when thou shalt do what is right in the eyes of Jehovah.

10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim delivereth them into thy hands, and thou hast taken captives of them, 11 and thou seest among the captives a woman of beautiful form, and hast a desire unto her, and takest her as thy wife; 12 then thou shalt bring her home to thy house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; 13 and she shall put the clothes of her captivity from off her, and shall abide in thy house, and bewail her father and mother a full month, and afterwards thou mayest go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife. 14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go according to her desire; but thou shalt in no wise sell her for money; thou shalt not treat her as a slave, because thou hast humbled her.

15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and one hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated, and the firstborn son be hers that was hated; 16 then it shall be, in the day that he maketh his sons to inherit what he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, who is the firstborn; 17 but he shall acknowledge as firstborn the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that is found with him; for he is the firstfruits of his vigour: the right of the firstborn is his.

18 If a man have an unmanageable and rebellious son, who hearkeneth not unto the voice of his father, nor unto the voice of his mother, and they have chastened him, but he hearkeneth not unto them; 19 then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 20 and they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is unmanageable and rebellious, he hearkeneth not unto our voice; he is a profligate and a drunkard. 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die. And thou shalt put evil away from thy midst; and all Israel shall hear and fear. 22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou have hanged him on a tree, 23 his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day (for he that is hanged is a curse of God*GodHebrew: Elohim); and thou shalt not defile thy land, which Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim giveth thee for an inheritance.

1 Dacă, în țara pe care ți-o dă în stăpânire Domnul Dumnezeul tău, se găsește întins în mijlocul unui câmp un om ucis, fără să se știe cine l-a lovit, 2 bătrânii și judecătorii tăi să se ducă să măsoare depărtarea de la trupul mort până în cetățile de primprejur. 3 Când se va hotărî cetatea cea mai apropiată de trupul mort, bătrânii din cetatea aceea să ia o vițea care să nu fi fost pusă la muncă și care să nu fi tras la jug. 4 Să ducă vițeaua aceea într-o vale cu apă care nu seacă niciodată și unde nu se ară, nici nu se seamănă; și acolo să taie capul vițelei, în vale. 5 Atunci să se apropie preoții, fiii lui Levi, căci pe ei*Cap. 10:8.1 Cron. 23:13. i-a ales Domnul Dumnezeul tău ca să-I slujească și să binecuvânteze în Numele Domnului, și ei trebuie să hotărască*Cap. 17:8,9. în orice ceartă și în orice rănire. 6 Toți bătrânii din cetatea aceea cea mai apropiată de trupul mort să-și spele*Ps. 19:12;26:6.Mat. 27:24. mâinile pe vițeaua căreia i-au tăiat capul în vale. 7 Și, luând cuvântul, să zică: ‘Mâinile noastre n-au vărsat sângele acesta și ochii noștri nu l-au văzut vărsându-se. 8 Iartă, Doamne, pe poporul Tău Israel, pe care l-ai răscumpărat; nu*Iona 1:14. pune sângele nevinovat în socoteala poporului Tău Israel.’ Și sângele acela nu-i va fi pus în socoteală. 9 Astfel trebuie să curățești*Cap. 19:13. din mijlocul tău sângele nevinovat, făcând ce este plăcut înaintea Domnului.

10 Când vei merge la război împotriva vrăjmașilor tăi, dacă Domnul îi dă în mâinile tale și vei lua prinși din ei, 11 poate că printre cei prinși vei vedea o femeie frumoasă și vei dori s-o iei de nevastă. 12 Atunci s-o aduci înăuntrul casei tale. Ea să-și radă capul și să-și taie unghiile, 13 să-și lepede hainele pe care le purta când a fost prinsă, să locuiască în casa ta și să plângă*Ps. 45:10. pe tatăl și pe mama ei o lună de zile. După aceea, să te duci la ea, să-i fii bărbat și ea să-ți fie nevastă. 14 Dacă nu-ți va mai plăcea, s-o lași să plece unde va voi, dar nu vei putea s-o vinzi pe argint, nici să te porți cu ea ca și cu o roabă, pentru că ai înjosit-o*Gen. 34:2. Cap. 22:29.Jud. 19:24.. 15 Dacă un om care are două neveste iubește pe una și nu iubește*Gen. 29:33. pe cealaltă și dacă are copii cu ele, din care întâiul născut este de la nevasta pe care n-o iubește, 16 când își*1 Cron. 5:2;26:10.2 Cron. 11:19,22. va împărți averile între fiii lui, nu va putea face întâi născut pe fiul aceleia pe care o iubește, în locul fiului aceleia pe care n-o iubește și care este întâiul născut. 17 Ci să recunoască de întâi născut pe fiul aceleia pe care n-o iubește și să-i dea o parte îndoită*1 Cron. 5:1. din averea lui, căci fiul acesta este cel dintâi rod*Gen. 49:3. al puterii lui și lui i se cuvine dreptul*Gen. 25:31,33. de întâi născut.

18 Dacă un om are un fiu neascultător și îndărătnic, care n-ascultă nici de glasul tatălui său, nici de glasul mamei lui și nu-i ascultă nici chiar după ce l-au pedepsit, 19 tatăl și mama să-l ia și să-l ducă la bătrânii cetății lui și la poarta locului în care locuiește. 20 Să spună bătrânilor cetății lui: ‘Iată, fiul nostru este neascultător și îndărătnic, n-ascultă de glasul nostru și este lacom și bețiv.’ 21 Și toți oamenii din cetatea lui să-l ucidă cu pietre și să moară. Astfel să curățești*Cap. 13:5;19:19,20;22:21,24. răul din mijlocul tău, pentru ca*Cap. 13:11. tot Israelul s-audă și să se teamă.

22 Dacă se va omorî un om care a săvârșit o nelegiuire vrednică de pedeapsa*Cap. 19:6;22:26.Fapte 23:29;25:11,25;26:31. cu moartea și l-ai spânzurat de un lemn, 23 trupul lui*Ios. 8:29;10:26,27.Ioan 19:31. mort să nu stea noaptea pe lemn, ci să-l îngropi în aceeași zi, căci cel spânzurat*Gal. 3:13. este blestemat înaintea lui Dumnezeu, și să nu spurci*Lev. 18:25.Num. 35:34. țara pe care ți-o dă de moștenire Domnul Dumnezeul tău.
