1 The priests, the Levites, and the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: Jehovah’s offerings by fire, and his inheritance shall they eat, 2 but they shall have no inheritance among their brethren: Jehovah, he is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them. 3 And this shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that sacrifice a sacrifice, whether ox, or sheep: they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the jawbones, and the maw. 4 The firstfruits also of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstfruits of the shearing of thy sheep, shalt thou give him; 5 for Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, that he may stand to serve in the name of Jehovah, he and his sons continually. 6 And if the Levite shall come from one of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourneth, and shall come according to all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah will choose, 7 and shall serve in the name of Jehovah his God*GodHebrew: Elohim as all his brethren the Levites that stand there before Jehovah, 8 — they shall have like portions to eat, besides that which he hath sold of his patrimony.

9 When thou art come into the land which Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you he that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, that useth divination, that useth auguries, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, 11 or a charmer, or one that inquireth of a spirit of Python, or a soothsayer, or one that consulteth the dead. 12 For every one that doeth these things is an abomination to Jehovah, and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim doth dispossess them from before thee. 13 Thou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim14 For these nations, which thou shalt dispossess, hearkened unto those that use auguries, and that use divination; but as for thee, Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath not suffered thee to do so.

15 Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him shall ye hearken; 16 according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God*GodHebrew: Elohim neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And Jehovah said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 18 A prophet will I raise up unto them from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass that the man who hearkeneth not unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. 20 But the prophet who shall presume to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. 21 And if thou say in thy heart, How shall we know the word that Jehovah hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, and the thing followeth not, nor cometh to pass, that is the word which Jehovah hath not spoken; the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: be not afraid of him.

Domnul 7 și va face slujbă în Numele Domnului Dumnezeului tău, ca*2 Cron. 31:2. toți frații lui leviți care stau înaintea Domnului, 8 va primi ca hrană o parte*2 Cron. 31:4.Neem. 12:44,47. la fel cu a lor și, pe lângă ea, se va bucura și de veniturile ieșite din vânzarea averii lui părintești.

9 După ce vei intra în țara pe care ți-o dă Domnul Dumnezeul tău, să nu te înveți*Lev. 18:26,27,30. Cap. 12:29-31. să faci după urâciunile neamurilor acelora. 10 Să nu fie la tine nimeni care să-și treacă*Lev. 18:21. Cap. 12:31. pe fiul sau pe fiica lui prin foc, nimeni care să aibă meșteșugul*Lev. 19:26,31;20:27.Is. 8:19. de ghicitor, de cititor în stele, de vestitor al viitorului, de vrăjitor, 11 de descântător*Lev. 20:27., nimeni care să întrebe pe cei ce cheamă duhurile sau dau cu ghiocul, nimeni care să întrebe*1 Sam. 28:7. pe morți. 12 Căci oricine face aceste lucruri este o urâciune înaintea Domnului și din pricina*Lev. 18:24,25. Cap. 9:4. acestor lucruri va izgoni Domnul Dumnezeul tău pe aceste neamuri dinaintea ta. 13 Tu să te ții în totul totului tot numai de Domnul Dumnezeul tău. 14 Căci neamurile acelea pe care le vei izgoni ascultă de cei ce citesc în stele și de ghicitori, dar ție, Domnul Dumnezeul tău nu-ți îngăduie lucrul acesta.

15 Domnul Dumnezeul tău îți va ridica din mijlocul tău, dintre frații tăi, un proroc*Vers. 18.Ioan 1:45.Fapte 3:22;7:37. ca mine: să ascultați de el! 16 Astfel, el va răspunde la cererea pe care ai făcut-o Domnului Dumnezeului tău la Horeb, în ziua adunării*Cap. 9:10. poporului, când ziceai: ‘Să nu*Exod 20:19.Evr. 12:19. mai aud glasul Domnului Dumnezeului meu și să nu mai văd acest foc mare, ca să nu mor.’ 17 Atunci, Domnul mi-a zis: ‘Ce au zis ei este bine*Cap. 5:28.. 18 Le voi ridica din mijlocul fraților lor un*Vers. 15.Ioan 1:45.Fapte 3:22.Fapte 7:37. proroc ca tine, voi pune*Is. 51:16.Ioan 17:8. cuvintele Mele în gura lui și el*Ioan 4:25;8:28;12:49,50. le va spune tot ce-i voi porunci Eu. 19 Și dacă cineva*Fapte 3:23. nu va asculta de cuvintele Mele, pe care le va spune el în Numele Meu, Eu îi voi cere socoteală. 20 Dar prorocul*Cap. 13:5.Ier. 14:14,15.Zah. 13:3. care va avea îndrăzneala să spună în Numele Meu un cuvânt pe care nu-i voi porunci să-l spună sau care va vorbi*Cap. 13:1,2.Ier. 2:8. în numele altor dumnezei, prorocul acela să fie pedepsit cu moartea.’ 21 Poate că vei zice în inima ta: ‘Cum vom cunoaște cuvântul pe care nu-l va spune Domnul?’ 22 Când ceea ce*Ier. 28:9. va spune prorocul acela în Numele Domnului nu va avea loc și nu se va întâmpla*Cap. 13:2., va fi un cuvânt pe care nu l-a spus Domnul. Prorocul acela l-a spus din îndrăzneală*Vers. 20.: să n-ai teamă de el.
