1 And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel; 2 and he said unto them, I am a hundred and twenty years old this day, I can no more go out and come in; and Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan. 3 Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim he will go over before thee, he will destroy these nations from before thee, that thou mayest take possession of them: Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as Jehovah hath said. 4 And Jehovah will do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land; whom he destroyed. 5 And when Jehovah giveth them up before you, ye shall do to them according to all the commandment which I have commanded you. 6 Be strong and courageous, fear them not, neither be afraid of them; for Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim he it is that goeth with thee; he will not leave thee, nor forsake thee. 7 And Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and courageous, for thou must go with this people into the land which Jehovah hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. 8 And Jehovah, he it is that goeth before thee: he will be with thee; he will not leave thee, nor forsake thee; fear not, neither be dismayed.

9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and to all the elders of Israel. 10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, at the set time of the year of release, at the feast of tabernacles, 11 when all Israel cometh to appear before Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim in the place which he will choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their ears. 12 Gather the people together, the men, and the women, and the children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim and take heed to do all the words of this law; 13 and that their children who do not know it may hear it and learn, that they may fear Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim as long as ye live in the land, whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

14 And Jehovah said to Moses, Lo, the days are near for thee to die; call Joshua, and present yourselves at the tent of meeting, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the tent of meeting. 15 And Jehovah appeared at the tent in the pillar of cloud; and the pillar of cloud stood over the entrance to the tent. 16 And Jehovah said to Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the strange gods of the land into which they enter, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. 17 And my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them, and they will say in that day, Have not these evils befallen me because my God*GodHebrew: Elohim is not in my midst? 18 And I will entirely hide my face in that day for all the evils that they have wrought, because they turned unto other gods. 19 And now, write ye this song, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. 20 For I shall bring them into the land which I swore unto their fathers, which floweth with milk and honey; and they will eat and fill themselves, and wax fat, and will turn unto other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant. 21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed; for I know their imagination which they are forming already this day, before I bring them into the land which I have sworn unto them.

22 And Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the children of Israel. 23 And Jehovah commanded Joshua the son of Nun, and said, Be strong and courageous; for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I have sworn unto them; and I will be with thee. 24 And it came to pass, when Moses had ended writing the words of this law in a book, until their conclusion, 25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, saying, 26 Take this book of the law, and put it at the side of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim that it may be there for a witness against thee; 27 for I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck. Lo, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah; and how much more after my death! 28 Gather to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and take heaven and earth to witness against them. 29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and will turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and mischief will befall you at the end of days; because ye do evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. 30 And Moses spoke in the ears of the whole congregation of Israel the words of this song, until their conclusion.

CAPITOLELE 31—34

Nu vă temeți*Cap. 1:29;7:18. și nu vă înspăimântați de ei, căci Domnul Dumnezeul tău va merge El Însuși*Cap. 20:4. cu tine, nu*Ios. 1:5.Evr. 13:5. te va părăsi și nu te va lăsa." 7 Moise a chemat pe Iosua și i-a zis în fața întregului Israel: „Întărește-te*Vers. 23. Cap. 1:38;3:28.Ios. 1:6. și îmbărbătează-te. Căci tu vei intra cu poporul acesta în țara pe care Domnul a jurat părinților lor că le-o va da și tu îi vei pune în stăpânirea ei. 8 Domnul*Exod 13:21,22;33:14. Cap. 9:3. Însuși va merge înaintea ta, El Însuși va fi cu*Ios. 1:5,9.1 Cron. 28:20. tine, nu te va părăsi și nu te va lăsa; nu te teme și nu te înspăimânta!"

9 Moise a scris legea aceasta și a încredințat-o*Vers. 25. Cap. 17:18. preoților, fiii lui Levi, care*Num. 4:15.Ios. 3:3.1 Cron. 15:12,15. duceau chivotul legământului Domnului, și tuturor bătrânilor lui Israel. 10 Moise le-a dat porunca aceasta: „La fiecare șapte ani, pe vremea anului*Cap. 15:1. iertării, la*Lev. 23:34. Sărbătoarea Corturilor, 11 când tot Israelul va veni să se*Cap. 16:16. înfățișeze înaintea Domnului Dumnezeului tău, în locul pe care-l va alege El, să citești*Ios. 8:34,35.2 Împ. 23:2.Neem. 8:1. legea aceasta înaintea întregului Israel, în auzul lor. 12 Să strângi poporul, bărbații, femeile, copiii și străinul care va fi în cetățile tale, ca să audă și să învețe să se teamă de Domnul Dumnezeul vostru, să păzească și să împlinească toate cuvintele legii acesteia. 13 Pentru ca și copiii lor, care*Cap. 11:2. n-o vor cunoaște, s-o audă*Ps. 78:6,7. și să învețe să se teamă de Domnul Dumnezeul vostru, în tot timpul cât veți trăi în țara pe care o veți lua în stăpânire, după ce veți trece Iordanul." 14 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Iată*Num. 27:13. Cap. 34:5;31. că se apropie clipa când vei muri. Cheamă pe Iosua și înfățișați-vă în cortul întâlnirii. Eu îi voi da*Vers. 23.Num. 27:19. poruncile Mele." Moise și Iosua s-au dus și s-au înfățișat în cortul întâlnirii. 15 Și Domnul*Exod 33:9. S-a arătat în cort, într-un stâlp de nor: și stâlpul de nor s-a oprit la ușa cortului. 16 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Iată, tu vei adormi împreună cu părinții tăi. Și poporul acesta se va scula*Exod 32:6. și va curvi*Exod 34:15.Jud. 2:17. după dumnezeii străini ai țării în care intră. Pe Mine*Cap. 32:15. Mă va părăsi și va călca*Jud. 2:12;10:6,13;2:20. legământul Meu, pe care l-am încheiat cu el. 17 În ziua aceea, Mă voi aprinde de mânie împotriva lui. Îi voi*2 Cron. 15:2. părăsi și-Mi voi ascunde Fața*Cap. 32:20.Ps. 104:29.Is. 8:17;64:7.Ezec. 39:23. de ei. El va fi prăpădit și-l vor ajunge o mulțime de rele și necazuri și atunci va zice: ‘Oare nu m-au ajuns aceste*Jud. 6:13. rele din pricină că Dumnezeul meu nu este în mijlocul*Num. 14:42. meu?’ 18 Și Eu Îmi*Vers. 17. voi ascunde Fața în ziua aceea, din pricina tot răului pe care-l va face, întorcându-se spre alți dumnezei. 19 Acum, scrieți-vă cântarea aceasta. Învață pe copiii din Israel s-o cânte, pune-le-o în gură, și cântarea aceasta să-Mi fie martoră*Vers. 26. împotriva copiilor lui Israel. 20 Căci voi duce pe poporul acesta în țara pe care am jurat părinților lui că i-o voi da, țară unde curge lapte și miere; el va mânca, se va sătura și se va îngrășa*Cap. 32:15.Neem. 9:25,26.Osea 13:6., apoi se va întoarce*Vers. 16. la alți dumnezei și le va sluji, iar pe Mine Mă va nesocoti și va călca legământul Meu. 21 Când va fi lovit*Vers. 17. atunci cu o mulțime de rele și necazuri, cântarea aceasta, care nu va fi uitată și pe care uitarea n-o va șterge din gura urmașilor, va sta ca martoră împotriva acestui popor. Căci Eu îi cunosc*Osea 5:3;13:5,6. pornirile, care se arată*Amos 5:25,26. și azi, înainte chiar ca să-l fi dus în țara pe care am jurat că i-o voi da." 22 În ziua aceea, Moise a scris cântarea aceasta și a învățat pe copiii lui Israel s-o cânte. 23 Domnul*Vers. 14. a poruncit lui Iosua, fiul lui Nun, și a zis: „Întărește-te*Vers. 7.Ios. 1:6. și îmbărbătează-te, căci tu vei duce pe copiii lui Israel în țara pe care am jurat că le-o voi da; și Eu Însumi voi fi cu tine." 24 După ce a isprăvit Moise în totul de scris*Vers. 9. într-o carte cuvintele legii acesteia, 25 a dat următoarea poruncă leviților, care duceau chivotul legământului Domnului: 26 „Luați cartea aceasta a legii și puneți-o*2 Împ. 22:8. lângă chivotul legământului Domnului Dumnezeului vostru, ca să fie acolo ca martoră*Vers. 19. împotriva ta. 27 Căci eu*Cap. 9:24;32:20. îți cunosc duhul tău de răzvrătire*Exod 32:9. Cap. 9:6. și încăpățânarea ta cea mare. Dacă vă răzvrătiți voi împotriva Domnului cât trăiesc eu încă în mijlocul vostru, cu cât mai răzvrătiți veți fi după moartea mea! 28 Strângeți înaintea mea pe toți bătrânii semințiilor voastre și pe căpeteniile oștirii voastre; voi spune cuvintele acestea în fața lor și voi lua martor împotriva lor cerul*Cap. 30:19;32:1. și pământul. 29 Căci știu că după moartea mea vă*Cap. 32:5.Jud. 2:19.Osea 9:9. veți strica și vă veți abate de la calea pe care v-am arătat-o și, în cele din urmă*Cap. 28:15., vă va ajunge*Gen. 49:1. Cap. 4:30. nenorocirea, dacă veți face ce este rău înaintea Domnului, până acolo încât să-L mâniați prin lucrul mâinilor voastre." 30 Moise a rostit toate cuvintele cântării acesteia în fața întregii adunări a lui Israel:
