An instruction of David; when he was in the cave: a prayer.

1 I cry unto Jehovah with my voice: with my voice unto Jehovah do I make supplication. 2 I pour out my plaint before him; I shew before him my trouble. 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they hidden a snare for me.

4 Look on the right hand and see; there is no man that knoweth me: refuge hath failed me; no man careth for my soul. 5 I cried unto thee, Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. 6 Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may celebrate thy name. The righteous shall surround me, because thou dealest bountifully with me.

O rugăciune făcută când era în peșteră

1 Cu glasul meu strig către Domnul,

cu glasul meu mă rog către Domnul.

2 Îmi vărs*Ps. 102, titlu.Is. 26:16. necazul înaintea Lui

și-mi povestesc strâmtorarea înaintea Lui.

3 Când*Ps. 143:4. îmi este mâhnit duhul în mine, Tu îmi cunoști cărarea.

Pe*Ps. 140:5. drumul pe care umblu, mi-au întins o cursă.

4 Aruncă-Ți*Ps. 69:20. ochii la dreapta și privește! Nimeni*Ps. 31:11;88:8,18. nu mă mai cunoaște,

orice scăpare este pierdută pentru mine, nimănui nu-i pasă de sufletul meu.

5 Doamne, către Tine strig și zic: „Tu*Ps. 46:1;91:2. ești scăparea mea,

partea*Ps. 16:5;73:26;119:57.Plâng. 3:24. mea de moștenire pe*Ps. 27:13. pământul celor vii."

6 Ia aminte la strigătele mele, căci sunt nenorocit*Ps. 116:6. de tot!

Izbăvește-mă de cei ce mă prigonesc, căci sunt mai tari decât mine!

7 Scoate-mi sufletul din temniță, ca să laud Numele Tău!

Cei neprihăniți vor veni să mă înconjoare*Ps. 34:2. când*Ps. 13:6;119:17. îmi vei face bine.
