1 Why, Jehovah, standest thou afar off? Why hidest thou thyself in times of distress? 2 The wicked, in his pride, doth hotly pursue the afflicted. They shall be taken in the devices that they have imagined. 3 For the wicked boasteth of his soul’s desire, and he blesseth the covetous; he contemneth Jehovah. 4 The wicked saith, in the haughtiness of his countenance, He doth not search out: all his thoughts are, There is no God*GodHebrew: Elohim5 His ways always succeed; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them. 6 He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; from generation to generation I shall be in no adversity. 7 His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. 8 He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he slay the innocent: his eyes watch for the wretched. 9 He lieth in wait secretly, like a lion in his thicket; he lieth in wait to catch the afflicted: he doth catch the afflicted, drawing him into his net. 10 He croucheth, he boweth down, that the wretched may fall by his strong ones. 11 He saith in his heart, ·God*GodHebrew: El hath forgotten, he hideth his face, he will never see it.

12 Arise, Jehovah; O ·God*GodHebrew: El lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted. 13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God*GodHebrew: Elohim He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. 14 Thou hast seen it, for thou thyself beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite by thy hand. The wretched committeth himself unto thee; thou hast been the helper of the fatherless. 15 Break thou the arm of the wicked, and as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness till thou find none. 16 Jehovah is King for ever and ever: the nations have perished out of his land. 17 Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek, thou hast established their heart: thou causest thine ear to hear, 18 To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed one, that the man of the earth may terrify no more.

Pentru ce Te ascunzi la vreme de necaz?

2 Cel rău, în mândria lui, urmărește pe cei nenorociți

și ei cad*Ps. 7:16;9:15,16.Prov. 5:22. jertfă curselor urzite de el.

3 Căci cel rău se fălește*Ps. 94:4. cu pofta lui,

iar răpitorul*Prov. 28:4.Rom. 1:32. batjocorește și nesocotește pe Domnul.

4 Cel rău zice cu trufie: „Nu*Ps. 14:2. pedepsește Domnul!

Nu este Dumnezeu!" Iată toate gândurile*Ps. 14:1;53:1. lui.

5 Treburile îi merg bine în orice vreme;

judecățile*Prov. 24:7.Is. 26:11. Tale sunt prea înalte pentru el, ca să le poată vedea,

și suflă cu dispreț*Ps. 12:5. împotriva tuturor potrivnicilor lui.

6 El zice*Ps. 30:6.Ecl. 8:11.Is. 56:12. în inima lui: „Nu mă clatin,

în veci*Apoc. 18:7. sunt scutit de nenorocire!"

7 Gura*Rom. 3:14. îi este plină de blesteme, de înșelătorii și de vicleșuguri

și sub limbă*Iov 20:12. are răutate și fărădelege*Ps. 12:2..

8 Stă la pândă lângă sate

și ucide pe cel nevinovat în locuri*Hab. 3:14. dosnice;

ochii lui pândesc*Ps. 17:11. pe cel nenorocit.

9 Stă*Ps. 17:12.Mica 7:2. la pândă în ascunzătoarea lui, ca leul în vizuină:

stă la pândă să prindă pe cel nenorocit.

Îl prinde și-l trage în lațul lui;

10 se îndoaie, se pleacă

și-i cad săracii în gheare!

11 El zice în inima lui: „Dumnezeu uită!

Își ascunde*Iov 22:13.Ps. 73:11;94:7.Ezec. 8:12;9:9. Fața și în veac nu va vedea!"

12 Scoală-Te, Doamne Dumnezeule, ridică*Mica 5:9. mâna!

Nu uita pe cei nenorociți!

13 Pentru ce să hulească cel rău pe Dumnezeu?

Pentru ce să zică în inima lui că Tu nu pedepsești?

14 Dar Tu vezi; căci Tu privești necazul și suferința, ca să iei în mână pricina lor.

În nădejdea Ta se lasă*2 Tim. 1:12.1 Pet. 4:19. cel nenorocit

și Tu vii în ajutor orfanului*Ps. 68:5.Osea 14:3..

15 Zdrobește*Ps. 37:17. brațul celui rău,

pedepsește-i fărădelegile, ca să piară din ochii Tăi!

16 Domnul*Ps. 29:10;145:13;146:10.Ier. 10:10.Plâng. 5:19.Dan. 4:34;6:26.1 Tim. 1:17. este Împărat în veci de veci;

neamurile sunt nimicite din țara Lui.

17 Tu auzi rugăciunile celor ce suferă, Doamne!

Le întărești*1 Cron. 29:18. inima, Îți pleci urechea spre ei,

18 ca să faci*Ps. 82:3.Is. 11:4. dreptate orfanului și celui asuprit

și ca să nu mai insufle groaza omul cel luat din pământ.
