To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off; 3 Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways; 4 For there is not yet a word on my tongue, but lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether. 5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me. 6 O knowledge too wonderful for me! it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7 Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? and whither flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into the heavens thou art there; or if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there; 9 If I take the wings of the dawn and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 And if I say, Surely darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night; 12 Even darkness hideth not from thee, and the night shineth as the day: the darkness is as the light. 13 For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my unformed substance, and in thy book all my members were written; during many days were they fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 But how precious are thy thoughts unto me, O ·God*GodHebrew: El how great is the sum of them! 18 If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with thee. 19 Oh that thou wouldest slay the wicked, O +God*GodHebrew: Eloah And ye men of blood, depart from me. 20 For they speak of thee wickedly, they take thy name in vain, thine enemies. 21 Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? and do not I loathe them that rise up against thee? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I account them mine enemies. 23 Search me, O ·God*GodHebrew: El and know my heart; prove me, and know my thoughts; 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.

1 Doamne, Tu mă cercetezi*Ps. 17:3.Ier. 12:3. de aproape și mă cunoști,

2 știi*2 Împ. 19:27. când stau jos și când mă scol

și de departe îmi pătrunzi*Mat. 9:4.Ioan 2:24,25. gândul.

3 Știi*Iov 31:4. când umblu și când mă culc

și cunoști toate căile mele.

4 Căci nu-mi ajunge cuvântul pe limbă,

și Tu*Evr. 4:13., Doamne, îl și cunoști în totul.

5 Tu mă înconjori pe dinapoi și pe dinainte

și-Ți pui mâna peste mine.

6 O știință*Iov 42:3.Ps. 40:5;131:1. atât de minunată este mai presus de puterile mele:

este prea înaltă ca s-o pot prinde.

7 Unde*Ier. 23:24.Iona 1:3. mă voi duce departe de Duhul Tău

și unde voi fugi departe de Fața Ta?

8 Dacă*Amos 9:2-4. mă voi sui în cer, Tu ești acolo;

dacă*Iov 26:6.Prov. 15:11. mă voi culca în Locuința morților, iată-Te și acolo.

9 Dacă voi lua aripile zorilor

și mă voi duce să locuiesc la marginea mării,

10 și acolo mâna Ta mă va călăuzi

și dreapta Ta mă va apuca.

11 Dacă voi zice: „Cel puțin întunericul mă va acoperi

și se va face noapte lumina dimprejurul meu",

12 iată că nici chiar întunericul*Iov 26:6;34:22.Dan. 2:22.Evr. 4:13. nu este întunecos pentru Tine,

ci noaptea strălucește ca ziua

și întunericul, ca lumina.

13 Tu mi-ai întocmit rărunchii,

Tu m-ai țesut în pântecele mamei mele:

14 Te laud că sunt o făptură așa de minunată.

Minunate sunt lucrările Tale

și ce bine vede sufletul meu lucrul acesta!

15 Trupul*Iov 10:8,9.Ecl. 11:5. meu nu era ascuns de Tine

când am fost făcut într-un loc tainic,

țesut în chip ciudat, ca în adâncimile pământului.

16 Când nu eram decât un plod fără chip, ochii Tăi mă vedeau

și în cartea Ta erau scrise toate zilele care-mi erau rânduite,

mai înainte de a fi fost vreuna din ele.

17 Cât*Ps. 40:5. de nepătrunse mi se par gândurile Tale, Dumnezeule,

și cât de mare este numărul lor!

18 Dacă le număr, sunt mai multe decât boabele de nisip.

Când mă trezesc, sunt tot cu Tine.

19 O, Dumnezeule, de ai ucide*Is. 14:4. pe cel rău!

Depărtați-vă*Ps. 119:115. de la mine, oameni setoși de sânge!

20 Ei vorbesc*Iuda 15. despre Tine în chip nelegiuit,

Îți iau Numele ca să mintă, ei, vrăjmașii Tăi!

21 Să*2 Cron. 19:2.Ps. 119:158. nu urăsc eu, Doamne, pe cei ce Te urăsc

și să nu-mi fie scârbă de cei ce se ridică împotriva Ta?

22 Da, îi urăsc cu o ură desăvârșită;

îi privesc ca pe vrăjmași ai mei.

23 Cercetează-mă*Iov 31:6.Ps. 26:2., Dumnezeule, și cunoaște-mi inima!

Încearcă-mă și cunoaște-mi gândurile!

24 Vezi dacă sunt pe o cale rea

și du-mă*Ps. 5:8;143:10. pe calea veșniciei!
