To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David; when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.

1 Be gracious unto me, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim according to thy loving-kindness; according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me fully from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is continually before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in thy sight; that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, be clear when thou judgest. 5 Behold, in iniquity was I brought forth, and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou wilt have truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear gladness and joy; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not the spirit of thy holiness from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and let a willing spirit sustain me. 13 I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall return unto thee.

14 Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim thou God*GodHebrew: Elohim of my salvation: my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. 15 Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare thy praise. 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering. 17 The sacrifices of God*GodHebrew: Elohim are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim thou wilt not despise. 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then shalt thou have sacrifices of righteousness, burnt-offering, and whole burnt-offering; then shall they offer up bullocks upon thine altar.

Un psalm al lui David. Făcut când a venit la el prorocul Natan, după ce intrase David la Bat-Șeba

1 Ai milă de mine, Dumnezeule, în bunătatea Ta!

După îndurarea Ta cea mare, șterge*Vers. 9.Is. 43:25;44:22.Col. 2:14. fărădelegile mele!

2 Spală-mă*Evr. 9:14.1 Ioan 1:7,9.Apoc. 1:5. cu desăvârșire de nelegiuirea mea

și curățește-mă de păcatul meu!

3 Căci îmi cunosc bine fărădelegile*Ps. 32:5;38:18.

și păcatul meu stă necurmat înaintea mea.

4 Împotriva Ta, numai*Gen. 20:6;39:9.Lev. 5:19;6:2.2 Sam. 12:13. împotriva Ta am păcătuit

și am făcut ce este rău înaintea*Luca 15:21. Ta;

așa că*Rom. 3:4. vei fi drept în hotărârea Ta

și fără vină în judecata Ta.

5 Iată că*Iov 14:4.Ps. 58:8.Ioan 3:6.Rom. 5:12.Efes. 2:3. sunt născut în nelegiuire

și*Iov 14:4. în păcat m-a zămislit mama mea.

6 Dar Tu ceri ca adevărul să fie în adâncul*Iov 38:36. inimii:

fă dar să pătrundă înțelepciunea înăuntrul meu!

7 Curățește-mă*Lev. 14:4,6,49.Num. 19:18.Evr. 9:19. cu isop și voi fi curat;

spală-mă și voi fi*Is. 1:18. mai alb decât zăpada!

8 Fă-mă să aud veselie și bucurie

și oasele pe care le-ai zdrobit Tu se*Mat. 5:4. vor bucura!

9 Întoarce-Ți*Ier. 16:17. privirea de la păcatele mele,

șterge*Vers. 1. toate nelegiuirile mele!

10 Zidește în mine o inimă*Fapte 15:9.Efes. 2:10. curată, Dumnezeule,

pune în mine un duh nou și statornic!

11 Nu mă lepăda de la*Gen. 4:14.2 Împ. 13:23. Fața Ta

și nu lua de la mine Duhul*Rom. 8:9.Efes. 4:30. Tău cel Sfânt!

12 Dă-mi iarăși bucuria mântuirii Tale

și sprijină-mă cu un duh*2 Cor. 3:1. de bunăvoință!

13 Atunci voi învăța căile Tale pe cei ce le calcă,

și păcătoșii se vor întoarce la Tine.

14 Dumnezeule, Dumnezeul mântuirii mele! Izbăvește-mă de vina sângelui*2 Sam. 11:17;12:9. vărsat

și limba mea va lăuda*Ps. 35:28. îndurarea Ta!

15 Doamne, deschide-mi buzele

și gura mea va vesti lauda Ta!

16 Dacă ai fi voit jertfe*Num. 15:27,30.Ps. 40:6;50:8.Is. 1:11.Ier. 7:22.Osea 6:6., Ți-aș fi adus,

dar Ție nu-Ți plac arderile-de-tot.

17 Jertfele*Ps. 34:18.Is. 57:15;66:2. plăcute lui Dumnezeu sunt un duh zdrobit:

Dumnezeule, Tu nu disprețuiești o inimă zdrobită și mâhnită.

18 În îndurarea Ta, varsă-Ți binefacerile asupra Sionului

și zidește zidurile Ierusalimului!

19 Atunci vei primi jertfe*Ps. 4:5.Mal. 3:3. neprihănite, arderi-de-tot și jertfe întregi;

atunci se vor aduce pe altarul Tău viței.
