A Psalm of David; when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

1 O God*GodHebrew: Elohim thou art my ·God*GodHebrew: El early will I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh languisheth for thee, in a dry and weary land without water: 2 To see thy power and thy glory, as I have beheld thee in the sanctuary;

3 For thy loving-kindness is better than life: my lips shall praise thee. 4 So will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5 My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, I meditate on thee in the night-watches:

7 For thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of thy wings will I sing for joy. 8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. 9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth; 10 They shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be the portion of foxes. 11 But the king shall rejoice in God*GodHebrew: Elohim every one that sweareth by him shall glory: for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

Făcut când era în pustia lui Iuda

1 Dumnezeule, Tu ești Dumnezeul meu, pe Tine Te caut!

Îmi însetează sufletul*Ps. 42:2;84:2;143:6. după Tine, îmi tânjește trupul după Tine,

într-un pământ sec, uscat și fără apă.

2 Așa Te privesc eu în Locașul cel Sfânt,

ca să-Ți văd puterea*1 Sam. 4:21.1 Cron. 16:11.Ps. 27:4;78:61. și slava.

3 Fiindcă*Ps. 30:5. bunătatea Ta prețuiește mai mult decât viața,

de aceea buzele mele cântă laudele Tale.

4 Te voi binecuvânta dar toată*Ps. 104:33;146:2. viața mea

și în Numele Tău îmi voi ridica mâinile.

5 Mi se*Ps. 36:8. satură sufletul ca de niște bucate grase și miezoase,

și gura mea Te laudă cu strigăte de bucurie pe buze

6 când mi-aduc*Ps. 42:8;119:55;149:5. aminte de Tine în așternutul meu

și când mă gândesc la Tine în timpul priveghiurilor nopții.

7 Căci Tu ești ajutorul meu

și sunt plin de veselie la*Ps. 61:4. umbra aripilor Tale.

8 Sufletul meu este lipit de Tine;

dreapta Ta mă sprijină.

9 Dar cei ce caută să-mi ia viața

se vor duce în adâncimile pământului;

10 vor*Ezec. 35:5. fi dați pradă sabiei,

vor fi prada șacalilor.

11 Dar împăratul se va bucura în Dumnezeu;

oricine*Deut. 6:13.Is. 45:23;65:16.Ţef. 1:5. jură pe El se va făli,

căci va astupa gura mincinoșilor.
