An instruction: of Asaph.

1 Why, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim hast thou cast off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? 2 Remember thine assembly, which thou hast purchased of old, which thou hast redeemed to be the portion of thine inheritance, this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. 3 Lift up thy steps unto the perpetual desolations: everything in the sanctuary hath the enemy destroyed. 4 Thine adversaries roar in the midst of thy place of assembly; they set up their signs for signs. 5 A man was known as he could lift up axes in the thicket of trees; 6 And now they break down its carved work altogether, with hatchets and hammers. 7 They have set on fire thy sanctuary, they have profaned the habitation of thy name to the ground. 8 They said in their heart, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all ·God’s*GodHebrew: El places of assembly in the land. 9 We see not our signs; there is no more any prophet, neither is there among us any that knoweth how long. 10 How long, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy contemn thy name for ever? 11 Why withdrawest thou thy hand, and thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom: consume them.

12 But God*GodHebrew: Elohim is my king of old, accomplishing deliverances in the midst of the earth. 13 Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength; thou didst break the heads of the monsters on the waters: 14 Thou didst break in pieces the heads of leviathan, thou gavest him to be meat to those that people the desert. 15 Thou didst cleave fountain and torrent, thou driedst up ever-flowing rivers. 16 The day is thine, the night also is thine; thou hast prepared the moon and the sun: 17 Thou hast set all the borders of the earth; summer and winter — thou didst form them.

18 Remember this, that an enemy hath reproached Jehovah, and a foolish people have contemned thy name. 19 Give not up the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast; forget not the troop of thine afflicted for ever. 20 Have respect unto the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of the dwellings of violence. 21 Oh let not the oppressed one return ashamed; let the afflicted and needy praise thy name. 22 Rise up, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee all the day; 23 Forget not the voice of thine adversaries: the tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.

1 Pentru ce, Dumnezeule, ne lepezi*Ps. 44:9,23;60:1,10;77:7.Ier. 31:37;33:24. pentru totdeauna?

Pentru ce Te mânii*Deut. 29:20. pe turma*Ps. 95:7;100:3. pășunii Tale?

2 Adu-Ți aminte de poporul Tău

pe*Exod 15:16.Deut. 9:29. care l-ai câștigat odinioară,

pe care l-ai răscumpărat ca seminție*Deut. 32:9.Ier. 10:16. a moștenirii Tale!

Adu-Ți aminte de muntele Sionului, unde Îți aveai locuința;

3 îndreaptă-Ți pașii spre aceste locuri pustiite fără curmare!

Vrăjmașul a pustiit totul în Locașul Tău cel Sfânt.

4 Potrivnicii Tăi au mugit*Plâng. 2:7. în mijlocul Templului Tău;

și-au pus*Dan. 6:27. semnele lor drept semne.

5 Parcă erau niște oameni care ridică

toporul într-o pădure deasă:

6 în curând, au sfărâmat toate podoabele*1 Împ. 6:18,29,32,35. săpate,

cu lovituri de securi și ciocane.

7 Au pus foc*2 Împ. 25:9. Sfântului Tău Locaș;

au dărâmat și au pângărit*Ps. 89:39. locuința Numelui Tău.

8 Ei ziceau*Ps. 83:4. în inima lor:

„Să-i prăpădim pe toți!"

Au ars toate locurile sfinte din țară.

9 Semnele noastre nu le mai vedem;

nu*1 Sam. 3:1.Amos 8:11. mai este niciun proroc

și nu mai este nimeni printre noi care să știe până când…

10 Până când, Dumnezeule, va batjocori asupritorul

și va nesocoti vrăjmașul fără curmare Numele Tău?

11 Pentru ce*Plâng. 2:3. Îți tragi înapoi mâna și dreapta Ta?

Scoate-o din sân și nimicește-i!

12 Totuși Dumnezeu*Ps. 44:4. este Împăratul meu, care din vremuri străvechi

dă izbăviri în mijlocul acestei țări.

13 Tu ai despărțit*Exod 14:21. marea cu puterea Ta,

ai sfărâmat*Is. 51:9,10.Ezec. 29:3;32:3. capetele balaurilor din ape;

14 ai zdrobit capul leviatanului*74:14 Sau: crocodilului.,

l-ai dat să-l*Num. 14:9. mănânce fiarele*Ps. 72:9. din pustie.

15 Ai făcut să țâșnească*Exod 17:5,6.Num. 20:11.Ps. 105:41.Is. 48:21. izvoare în pâraie,

ai uscat*Ios. 3:13. râuri care nu seacă.

16 A Ta este ziua, a Ta este și noaptea;

Tu*Gen. 1:14. ai așezat lumina și soarele.

17 Tu ai statornicit*Fapte 17:26. toate hotarele pământului,

Tu ai rânduit vara*Gen. 8:22. și iarna.

18 Adu-Ți*Vers. 22.Apoc. 16:19. aminte, Doamne, că vrăjmașul Te batjocorește

și un*Ps. 39:8. popor nechibzuit hulește Numele Tău!

19 Nu lăsa pradă fiarelor sufletul turturelei*Cânt. 2:14. Tale

și nu uita*Ps. 68:10. pe vecie viața nenorociților Tăi!

20 Ai*Gen. 17:7,8.Lev. 26:44,45.Ps. 106:45.Ier. 33:21. în vedere legământul!

Căci locurile dosnice din țară sunt pline de bârloguri de tâlhari.

21 Să nu se întoarcă rușinat cel apăsat,

ci nenorocitul și săracul să laude Numele Tău!

22 Scoală-Te, Dumnezeule, apără-Ți pricina!

Adu-Ți*Vers. 18.Ps. 89:51. aminte de ocările pe care Ți le aruncă în fiecare zi cel fără minte!

23 Nu uita strigătele potrivnicilor Tăi,

zarva care crește necurmat a celor ce se ridică împotriva Ta!
