1 Sing ye joyously unto God*GodHebrew: Elohim our strength, shout aloud unto the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Jacob; 2 Raise a song, and sound the tambour, the pleasant harp with the lute. 3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the set time, on our feast day: 4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Jacob; 5 He ordained it in Joseph for a testimony, when he went forth over the land of Egypt, where I heard a language that I knew not. 6 I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were freed from the basket. 7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

8 Hear, my people, and I will testify unto thee; O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me! 9 There shall no strange god*godHebrew: el be in thee, neither shalt thou worship any foreign god*godHebrew: el10 I am Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim that brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. 11 But my people hearkened not to my voice, and Israel would none of me. 12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' stubbornness: they walked after their own counsels. 13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, that Israel had walked in my ways! 14 I would soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. 15 The haters of Jehovah would have come cringing unto him; but their time would have been for ever. 16 And he would have fed them with the finest of wheat; yea, with honey out of the rock would I have satisfied thee.

Către mai-marele cântăreților. De cântat pe ghitit. Un psalm al lui Asaf

1 Cântați cu veselie lui Dumnezeu, care este tăria noastră!

Înălțați strigăte de bucurie Dumnezeului lui Iacov!

2 Cântați o cântare, sunați din tobă,

din harpa cea plăcută și din alăută!

3 Sunați din trâmbiță la luna nouă,

la luna plină, în ziua sărbătorii noastre!

4 Căci aceasta este o lege*Lev. 23:24.Num. 10:10. pentru Israel,

o poruncă a Dumnezeului lui Iacov.

5 El a rânduit sărbătoarea aceasta pentru Iosif,

când a mers împotriva țării Egiptului…

Atunci am auzit un glas*Ps. 114:1. pe care nu l-am cunoscut:

6 „I-am descărcat*Is. 9:4;10:27.Exod 1:14. povara de pe umăr

și mâinile lui nu mai țin coșul.

7 Ai strigat*Exod 2:23;14:10.Ps. 50:15. în necaz și te-am izbăvit;

ți-am răspuns*Exod 19:19. în locul tainic al tunetului

și te-am încercat*Exod 17:6,7.Num. 20:13. la apele Meriba. (Oprire)

8 Ascultă*Ps. 50:7., poporul Meu, și te voi sfătui!

Israele, de M-ai asculta!

9 Niciun dumnezeu*Deut. 32:12.Is. 43:12. străin să*Exod 20:3,5. nu fie în mijlocul tău

și să nu te închini înaintea dumnezeilor străini!

10 Eu*Exod 20:2. sunt Domnul Dumnezeul tău,

care te-am scos din țara Egiptului;

deschide-ți*Ps. 37:3,4.Ioan 15:7.Efes. 3:20. gura larg și ți-o voi umple!

11 Dar poporul Meu n-a ascultat glasul Meu,

Israel nu*Exod 32:1.Deut. 32:15,18. M-a ascultat.

12 Atunci*Fapte 7:42;14:16.Rom. 1:24,26. i-am lăsat în voia pornirilor inimii lor

și au urmat sfaturile lor.

13 O*Deut. 5:29;10:12,13;32:29.Is. 48:18.! de M-ar asculta poporul Meu,

de ar umbla Israel în căile Mele!

14 Într-o clipă aș înfrunta pe vrăjmașii lor,

Mi-aș întoarce mâna împotriva potrivnicilor lor;

15 cei ce*Ps. 18:45.Rom. 1:30. urăsc pe Domnul L-ar linguși,

și fericirea lui Israel ar dăinui în veci.

16 L-aș*Deut. 32:13,14.Ps. 147:14. hrăni cu cel mai bun grâu

și l-aș sătura cu miere din*Iov 29:6. stâncă."
