An instruction. Of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1 I will sing of the loving-kindness of Jehovah for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness from generation to generation. 2 For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness. 3 I have made a covenant with mine elect, I have sworn unto David my servant: 4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.

5 And the heavens shall celebrate thy wonders, O Jehovah, and thy faithfulness in the congregation of the saints. 6 For who in the heaven can be compared to Jehovah? who among the sons of the mighty shall be likened to Jehovah? 7 ·God*GodHebrew: El is greatly to be feared in the council of the saints, and terrible for all that are round about him. 8 Jehovah, God*GodHebrew: Elohim of hosts, who is like unto thee, the strong Jah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee. 9 Thou rulest the pride of the sea: when its waves arise, thou stillest them. 10 Thou hast crushed Rahab as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength. 11 Thine are the heavens, the earth also is thine; the world and its fulness, thou hast founded them. 12 The north and the south, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon triumph in thy name. 13 Thine is the arm of might: strong is thy hand, high is thy right hand. 14 Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of thy throne; loving-kindness and truth go before thy face.

15 Blessed is the people that know the shout of joy: they walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name are they joyful all the day, and in thy righteousness are they exalted. 17 For thou art the glory of their strength; and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. 18 For Jehovah is our shield, and the Holy One of Israel, our king.

19 Then thou spakest in vision of thy Holy One, and saidst, I have laid help upon a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. 20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: 21 With whom my hand shall be established; and mine arm shall strengthen him. 22 No enemy shall exact upon him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him; 23 But I will beat down his adversaries before his face, and will smite them that hate him. 24 And my faithfulness and my loving-kindness shall be with him, and by my name shall his horn be exalted. 25 And I will set his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. 26 He shall call unto me, Thou art my father, my ·God*GodHebrew: El and the rock of my salvation; 27 And as to me, I will make him firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. 28 My loving-kindness will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him; 29 And I will establish his seed for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. 30 If his sons forsake my law, and walk not in mine ordinances; 31 If they profane my statutes, and keep not my commandments: 32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 33 Nevertheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor belie my faithfulness; 34 My covenant will I not profane, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35 Once have I sworn by my holiness; I will not lie unto David: 36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me; 37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and the witness in the sky is firm. Selah.

38 But thou hast rejected and cast off; thou hast been very wroth with thine anointed: 39 Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant; thou hast profaned his crown to the ground: 40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin. 41 All that pass by the way plunder him; he is become a reproach to his neighbours. 42 Thou hast exalted the right hand of his oppressors; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice: 43 Yea, thou hast turned back the edge of his sword, and hast not made him stand in the battle. 44 Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground; 45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened; thou hast covered him with shame. Selah. 46 How long, Jehovah, wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy fury burn like fire? 47 Remember, as regards me, what life is. Wherefore hast thou created all the children of men to be vanity? 48 What man liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah. 49 Where, Lord, are thy former loving-kindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness? 50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants — that I bear in my bosom that of all the mighty peoples — 51 Wherewith thine enemies, O Jehovah, have reproached, wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed. 52 Blessed be Jehovah for evermore! Amen, and Amen.

4 ‘Îți voi întări sămânța*Vers. 29,36. pe vecie

și credincioșia Ta în adunarea sfinților*Vers. 7.!

6 Căci în cer*Ps. 40:5;71:19;86:8;113:5. cine se poate asemăna cu Domnul?

Cine este ca Tine între fiii lui Dumnezeu?

7 Dumnezeu*Ps. 76:7,11. este înfricoșat în adunarea cea mare a sfinților

și de temut pentru toți cei ce stau în jurul Lui.

8 Doamne, Dumnezeul oștirilor,

cine este puternic*Exod 15:11.1 Sam. 2:2.Ps. 35:10;71:19. ca Tine, Doamne!

Și credincioșia Ta Te înconjoară.

9 Tu*Ps. 65:7;93:3,4;107:29. îmblânzești mândria mării;

când se ridică valurile ei, Tu le potolești.

10 Tu*Exod 14:26-28.Ps. 87:4.Is. 30:7;51:9. ai zdrobit Egiptul ca pe un hoit,

ai risipit pe vrăjmașii Tăi prin puterea brațului Tău.

11 Ale*Gen. 1:1.1 Cron. 29:11.Ps. 24:1,2;50:12. Tale sunt cerurile și pământul,

Tu ai întemeiat lumea și tot ce cuprinde ea.

12 Tu ai făcut miazănoaptea*Iov 26:7. și miazăziua;

Taborul*Ios. 19:22. și Hermonul*Ios. 12:1. se bucură de Numele Tău.

13 Brațul Tău este puternic,

mâna Ta este tare, dreapta Ta este înălțată.

14 Dreptatea*Ps. 97:2. și judecata sunt temelia scaunului Tău de domnie;

bunătatea*Ps. 85:13. și credincioșia sunt înaintea Feței Tale.

15 Ferice de poporul care cunoaște sunetul*Num. 10:10;23:21.Ps. 98:6. trâmbiței,

care umblă în lumina*Ps. 4:6;44:3. Feței Tale, Doamne!

16 El se bucură neîncetat de Numele Tău

și se fălește cu dreptatea Ta.

17 Căci Tu ești fala puterii lui;

și, în*Vers. 24.Ps. 75:10;92:10;132:17. bunăvoința Ta, ne ridici puterea noastră.

18 Căci Domnul este scutul nostru,

Sfântul lui Israel este Împăratul nostru.

19 Atunci ai vorbit într-o vedenie preaiubitului Tău

și ai zis: „Am dat ajutorul Meu unui viteaz,

am ridicat din mijlocul poporului un tânăr*Vers. 3.1 Împ. 11:34.;

20 am găsit*1 Sam. 16:1,12. pe robul Meu David

și l-am uns cu untdelemnul Meu cel sfânt.

21 Mâna Mea îl*Ps. 80:17. va sprijini

și brațul Meu îl va întări.

22 Vrăjmașul*2 Sam. 7:13. nu-l va prinde

și cel rău nu-l va apăsa,

23 ci voi zdrobi*2 Sam. 7:9. dinaintea lui pe potrivnicii lui

și voi lovi pe cei ce-l urăsc.

24 Credincioșia*Ps. 61:7. și bunătatea Mea vor fi cu el

și*Vers. 17. tăria lui se va înălța prin Numele Meu.

25 Voi da în mâna*Ps. 72:8;80:11. lui marea

și în dreapta lui râurile.

26 El Îmi va zice: ‘Tu ești Tatăl*2 Sam. 7:14.1 Cron. 22:10. meu,

Dumnezeul meu și Stânca*2 Sam. 22:47. mântuirii mele!’

27 Iar Eu îl voi face întâiul*Ps. 2:7.Col. 1:15,18. născut,

cel mai înalt*Num. 24:7. dintre împărații pământului.

28 Îi voi păstra totdeauna bunătatea*Is. 55:3. Mea

și legământul*Vers. 34. Meu îi va fi neclintit.

29 Îi voi face veșnică sămânța*Vers. 4,6.

și scaunul*Vers. 4.Is. 9:7.Ier. 33:17. lui de domnie, ca*Deut. 11:21. zilele cerurilor.

30 Dacă fiii*2 Sam. 7:14. lui vor părăsi*Ps. 119:53.Ier. 9:13. Legea Mea

și nu vor umbla după poruncile Mele,

31 dacă vor călca orânduirile Mele

și nu vor păzi poruncile Mele,

32 atunci le voi pedepsi*2 Sam. 7:14.1 Împ. 11:31. fărădelegile cu nuiaua

și nelegiuirile cu lovituri,

33 dar*2 Sam. 7:13. nu-Mi voi îndepărta deloc bunătatea de la ei

și nu-Mi voi face credincioșia de minciună;

34 nu-Mi voi călca legământul

și nu voi schimba ce a ieșit de pe buzele Mele.

35 Am jurat odată*Amos 4:2. pe sfințenia Mea:

să mint Eu oare pe David?

36 Sămânța*2 Sam. 7:16.Luca 1:33.Ioan 12:34. Vers. 4,29. lui va dăinui în veci;

scaunul lui de domnie va fi înaintea Mea ca*Ps. 72:5,17.Ier. 33:20. soarele;

37 ca luna va dăinui pe vecie

și ca martorul credincios din cer." (Oprire)

38 Și totuși*1 Cron. 28:9.Ps. 44:9;60:1,10. Tu l-ai îndepărtat*Deut. 32:19.Ps. 78:59.

și Te-ai mâniat pe unsul Tău;

39 ai nesocotit legământul făcut cu robul Tău;

i-ai doborât și i-ai pângărit*Ps. 74:7.Plâng. 5:16. cununa.

40 I-ai prăbușit*Ps. 80:12. toate zidurile

și i-ai dărâmat toate cetățuile.

41 Toți trecătorii îl jefuiesc

și a ajuns de batjocura*Ps. 44:13;79:4. vecinilor lui.

42 Ai înălțat dreapta potrivnicilor lui,

ai înveselit pe toți vrăjmașii lui,

43 ai făcut ca ascuțișul sabiei lui să dea înapoi

și nu l-ai sprijinit în luptă.

44 Ai pus capăt strălucirii lui

și i-ai trântit la pământ scaunul de domnie*Vers. 39.;

45 i-ai scurtat zilele tinereții

și l-ai acoperit de rușine. (Oprire)

46 Până*Ps. 79:5. când, Doamne, Te vei ascunde fără încetare

și-Ți*Ps. 78:63. va arde mânia ca focul?

47 Adu-ți*Iov 7:7;10:9;14:1.Ps. 39:5;119:84. aminte ce scurtă este viața mea

și pentru ce nimic ai făcut pe toți fiii omului!

48 Este vreun om care*Ps. 49:9. să poată trăi și să nu*Evr. 11:5. vadă moartea,

care să poată să-și scape sufletul din Locuința morților? (Oprire)

49 Unde sunt, Doamne, îndurările Tale dintâi,

pe care le-ai jurat*2 Sam. 7:15.Is. 55:3. lui David în*Ps. 54:5. credincioșia Ta?

50 Adu-ți aminte, Doamne, de ocara robilor Tăi,

adu-Ți*Ps. 69:9,19. aminte că port în sân ocara multor popoare;

51 adu-Ți aminte de ocările vrăjmașilor Tăi, Doamne,

de*Ps. 74:22. ocările lor împotriva pașilor unsului Tău!

52 Binecuvântat*Ps. 41:13. să fie Domnul în veci!
