1 And we turned, and went up the way to Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, for battle at Edrei. 2 And Jehovah said to me, Fear him not; for into thy hand have I given him, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon. 3 And Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim gave into our hand Og the king of Bashan also, and all his people; and we smote him until none was left to him remaining. 4 And we took all his cities at that time: there was not a town which we took not from them, sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 5 All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars; besides unwalled towns very many. 6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we had done to Sihon the king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every city, men, women and little ones. 7 But all the cattle and the spoil of the cities we took as booty for ourselves. 8 And we took at that time the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites, that were on this side the Jordan, from the river Arnon to mount Hermon 9 (the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir): 10 all the cities of the plateau, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, as far as Salchah and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 11 For only Og the king of Bashan remained of the residue of giants: behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? its length was nine cubits, and its breadth four cubits, after the cubit of a man.

12 And this land we took in possession at that time. From Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and the half of mount Gilead, and its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites; 13 and the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Manasseh. (The whole region of Argob, even all Bashan, is called a land of giants. 14 Jair the son of Manasseh took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and called Bashan after his own name, Havoth-Jair, to this day.) 15 And I gave Gilead to Machir. 16 And to the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even to the river Arnon, the middle of the ravine and its border, as far as the river Jabbok, the border of the children of Ammon; 17 the plain also, and the Jordan, and its border from Chinnereth as far as the sea of the plain, the salt sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward. 18 And I commanded you at that time, saying, Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath given you this land to take possession of it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all who are combatants. 19 Only your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, — I know that ye have much cattle, — shall abide in your cities which I have given you, 20 until Jehovah give rest to your brethren, as well as to you, and they also take possession of the land that Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim giveth them beyond the Jordan; then shall ye return, each man to his possession, which I have given you.

21 And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim hath done to these two kings: so will Jehovah do to all the kingdoms to which thou shalt go. 22 Ye shall not fear them; for Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim he will fight for you. 23 And I besought Jehovah at that time, saying, 24 Lord Jehovah, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy powerful hand; for what ·God*GodHebrew: El is in the heavens or in the earth that can do like to thy works, and like to thy might? 25 Let me go over, I pray thee, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon. 26 But Jehovah was wroth with me on your account, and did not hear me; and Jehovah said to me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter! 27 Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes; for thou shalt not go over this Jordan. 28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall put them in possession of the land which thou shalt see. 29 And we abode in the valley opposite to Beth-Peor.

Cap. 29:7., împăratul Basanului, ne-a ieșit înainte, cu tot poporul lui, ca să lupte împotriva noastră la Edrei*Cap. 1:4.. 2 Domnul mi-a zis: ‘Nu te teme de el, căci îl dau în mâinile tale, pe el și tot poporul lui, și țara lui; să te porți cu el cum te-ai purtat cu Sihon*Num. 21:34., împăratul amoriților, care locuia la Hesbon.’ 3 Și Domnul Dumnezeul nostru a mai dat în mâinile noastre și pe Og, împăratul Basanului, cu tot poporul lui*Num. 21:35.; l-am bătut și n-am lăsat să scape niciunul din oamenii lui. 4 I-am luat atunci toate cetățile și n-a fost una care să nu cadă în stăpânirea noastră: șaizeci de cetăți, tot ținutul*1 Împ. 4:13. Argob, împărăția lui Og din Basan. 5 Toate cetățile acestea erau întărite cu ziduri înalte, cu porți și zăvoare, afară de cetățile fără ziduri, care erau foarte multe la număr. 6 Le-am nimicit cu desăvârșire, cum făcuserăm cu Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului*Cap. 2:24.Ps. 135:10-12;136:19-21.; am nimicit cu desăvârșire toate cetățile împreună cu bărbații, femeile și pruncii. 7 Iar toate vitele și prada din cetăți le-am luat pentru noi. 8 Astfel, în vremea aceea am cucerit de la cei doi împărați ai amoriților țara de dincoace de Iordan, de la pârâul Arnon până la muntele Hermon 9 (sidoniții zic Hermonului*Cap. 4:48.Ps. 29:6. Sirion, și amoriții îl numesc Senir*1 Cron. 5:23.), 10 toate cetățile din*Cap. 4:49. câmpie, tot Galaadul și tot Basanul*Ios. 12:5;13:11. până la Salca și Edrei, cetăți din împărăția lui Og, în Basan. 11 (Numai*Amos 2:9. Og, împăratul Basanului, mai rămăsese din neamul*Gen. 14:5. refaimiților. Patul lui, un pat de fier, este la Raba*2 Sam. 12:26.Ier. 49:2.Ezec. 21:20., cetatea copiilor lui Amon. Lungimea lui este de nouă coți, și lățimea, de patru coți, după cotul unui om.)

12 Atunci am luat în stăpânire țara aceasta. Am dat rubeniților și gadiților ținutul de la Aroer*Cap. 2:36.Ios. 12:2., care este pe pârâul Arnon, și jumătatea muntelui Galaad cu cetățile*Num. 32:33.Ios. 12:6;13:8. lui. 13 Am dat la jumătate*Ios. 13:29. din seminția lui Manase ce mai rămânea din Galaad și toată împărăția lui Og din Basan: tot ținutul Argob, cu tot Basanul, care purta numele de Țara Refaimiților. 14 Iair*1 Cron. 2:22., fiul lui Manase, a luat tot ținutul Argob până la*Ios. 13:13.2 Sam. 3:3;16:6. hotarul gheșuriților și maacatiților și a pus numele lui târgurilor Basanului, numite*Num. 32:41. și azi târgurile lui Iair. 15 Am dat*Num. 32:39. Galaadul lui Machir. 16 Rubeniților și gadiților le-am dat o parte din Galaad până la pârâul Arnon, al cărui mijloc slujește ca hotar, și până la pârâul Iaboc, hotarul*Num. 21:24.Ios. 12:2. copiilor lui Amon; 17 le-am mai dat câmpia, mărginită de Iordan, de la Chineret*Num. 34:11. până la marea*Num. 34:12. Cap. 4:49.Ios. 12:3. câmpiei, Marea*Gen. 14:3. Sărată, la picioarele muntelui Pisga, spre răsărit. 18 În vremea aceea, v-am dat porunca aceasta: ‘Domnul Dumnezeul vostru vă dă în mână țara aceasta ca s-o stăpâniți. Voi*Num. 32:20., toți cei buni de luptă, să mergeți înarmați înaintea copiilor lui Israel. 19 Numai femeile voastre, pruncii și vitele voastre – știu că aveți multe vite – să rămână în cetățile pe care vi le-am dat, 20 până ce Domnul va da odihnă fraților voștri, ca și vouă, și vor lua și ei în stăpânire țara pe care le-o dă Domnul Dumnezeul vostru dincolo de Iordan. După aceea, vă veți întoarce*Ios. 22:4. fiecare în moștenirea pe care v-am dat-o.’ 21 În vremea aceea, am poruncit lui Iosua*Num. 27:18. și i-am zis: ‘Ochii tăi au văzut tot ce a făcut Domnul Dumnezeul vostru acestor doi împărați: așa va face Domnul tuturor împărățiilor împotriva cărora vei merge. 22 Nu te teme de ei, căci Domnul*Exod 14:14. Cap. 1:30;20:4. Dumnezeul vostru va lupta El Însuși pentru voi.’

23 În vremea aceea, m-am rugat*2 Cor. 12:8,9. Domnului și am zis: 24 ‘Stăpâne Doamne! Tu ai început să arăți robului Tău mărirea*Cap. 11:2. Ta și mâna Ta cea puternică, căci care este dumnezeul*Exod 15:11.2 Sam. 7:22.Ps. 71:19;86:8;89:6,8. acela, în cer și pe pământ, care să poată face lucrări ca ale Tale și să aibă o putere ca a Ta? 25 Lasă-mă, Te rog, să trec și să văd*Exod 3:8. Cap. 4:22. țara aceea bună de dincolo de Iordan, munții aceia frumoși și Libanul!’ 26 Dar Domnul*Num. 20:12;27:14. Cap. 1:37;31:2; 32:51,52;34:4.Ps. 106:32. S-a mâniat pe mine din pricina voastră și nu m-a ascultat. Domnul mi-a zis: ‘Destul! Nu-Mi mai vorbi de lucrul acesta. 27 Suie-te*Num. 27:12. pe vârful muntelui Pisga, uită-te spre apus, spre miazănoapte, spre miazăzi și spre răsărit și privește-o doar cu ochii, căci nu vei trece Iordanul acesta. 28 Dă*Num. 27:18,23. Cap. 1:38;31:3,7. porunci lui Iosua, întărește-l și îmbărbătează-l, căci el va merge înaintea poporului acestuia și-l va pune în stăpânirea țării pe care o vei vedea.’ 29 Și am rămas astfel în*Cap. 4:43;34:6. vale, în dreptul Bet-Peorului.
