1 In that day, shall be sung this song, in the land of Judah,A strong city, have we! Salvation, will he set for walls and rampart,2 Open ye the gates,That there may enter ina righteous nation preserving fidelity.3 A purpose sustained, thou wilt guard, , Prosper! Prosper! Because in thee, hath he been led to trust.4 Trust ye in Yahweh, unto futurity,For, in Yah, Yahweh, is a rock of ages.5 For he hath brought down the inhabitants of the height the city exalted,He layeth it low, Layeth it low even to the ground, Levelleth it, even to the dust:6 The foot trampleth it,The feet of the lowly, The steps of the weak,7 The path of a righteous man, is, even,O Upright One! the track of a righteous man, thou makest level.8 Surely in the path of thy regulations, O Yahweh, we waited for thee,Unto thy Name and unto thy Memorial, was there a longing of soul:9 With my soul, longed I for thee in the night, Yea with my spirit within me, I kept on searching for thee,For, when thy regulations to the earth, The inhabitants of the world will have learned, righteousness.10 Let favour be shewed to the lawless, he hath not learned righteousness, In a land of honest dealings, he acteth perversely,And seeth not the splendour of Yahweh.11 O Yahweh though thy hand be lifted up,yet do they not see, Would they might seeand turn pale at a peoples zeal,Surely, the fire of thine enemies, must consume them!12 O Yahweh, thou wilt ensure prosperity for us,hor even all our works, hast thou wrought for us,13 O Yahweh, our God! Lords other than thee, have owned us,By thyself alone, will we call upon thy Name.14 The dead, come not to life again, The shades, do not arise,Therefore, thou hast visited and destroyed them, And caused to perish every memorial of them.15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Yahweh, Thou hast increased the nation thou hast gotten thyself glory, Thou hast extended far, all the ends of the land.16 O Yahweh! in distress, they sought thee,They poured out a whispered prayer, when thy chastening was upon them.17 Like as a woman with childDraweth near to giving birth, Is in pain, Crieth out in her pangs So, were we before thee, O Yahweh;18 We were with childWe were in pain, As it were we brought forth wind,Salvation, we could not accomplish for the earth, Neither were horn the inhabitants of the world.19 Thy dead, shall come to life again, My dead body, they shall arise,Awake and shout for joy, ye that dwell in the dust For, a dew of light, is thy dew, And, earth, to the shades shall give birth.20 Come my people, enter into thy chambers, And shut thy doors behind thee,Hide thee as it were a little moment Till the indignation pass over.21 For lo! Yahweh, is coming forth out of his place, To visit the iniquity of earths inhabitant upon him,Therefore shall the earth unveil her shed-blood, And throw a covering, no longer over her slain.

1 Naquele dia, se entoará este cântico na terra de Judá: Uma forte cidade temos, a quem Deus pôs a salvação por muros e antemuros. 2 Abri as portas, para que entre nela a nação justa, que observa a verdade. 3 Tu conservarás em paz aquele cuja mente está firme em ti; porque ele confia em ti. 4 Confiai no Senhor perpetuamente; porque o Senhor Deus é uma rocha eterna. 5 Porque ele abate os que habitam em lugares sublimes, e a cidade exaltada humilhará até ao chão, e a derribará até ao pó. 6 O pé a pisará: os pés dos aflitos e os passos dos pobres.

7 O caminho do justo é todo plano; tu retamente pesas o andar do justo. 8 Até no caminho dos teus juízos, Senhor, te esperamos; no teu nome e na tua memória está o desejo da nossa alma. 9 Com minha alma te desejei de noite e, com o meu espírito, que está dentro de mim, madrugarei a buscar-te; porque, havendo os teus juízos na terra, os moradores do mundo aprendem justiça. 10 Ainda que se mostre favor ao ímpio, nem por isso aprende a justiça; até na terra da retidão, ele pratica a iniquidade e não atenta para a majestade do Senhor. 11 Senhor, a tua mão está exaltada, mas nem por isso a veem; vê-la-ão, porém confundir-se-ão por causa do zelo que tens do teu povo; e o fogo consumirá os teus adversários. 12 Senhor, tu nos darás a paz, porque tu és o que fizeste em nós todas as nossas obras. 13 Ó Senhor, Deus nosso, outros senhores têm tido domínio sobre nós; mas, por ti só, nos lembramos do teu nome. 14 Morrendo eles, não tornarão a viver; falecendo, não ressuscitarão; por isso, os visitaste, e destruíste, e apagaste toda a sua memória. 15 Tu, Senhor, aumentaste esta gente, tu aumentaste esta gente, fizeste-te glorioso; mas longe os lançaste, para todos os confins da terra.

16 Senhor, no aperto, te visitaram; vindo sobre eles a tua correção, derramaram a sua oração secreta. 17 Como a mulher grávida, quando está próxima a sua hora, tem dores de parto e dá gritos nas suas dores, assim fomos nós por causa da tua face, ó Senhor! 18 Bem concebemos nós e tivemos dores de parto, mas isso não foi senão vento; livramento não trouxemos à terra, nem caíram os moradores do mundo. 19 Os teus mortos viverão, os teus mortos ressuscitarão; despertai e exultai, vós que habitais no pó, porque o teu orvalho, ó Deus, será como o orvalho das ervas, e a terra lançará de si os mortos.

20 Vai, pois, povo meu, entra nos teus quartos e fecha as tuas portas sobre ti; esconde-te só por um momento, até que passe a ira. 21 Porque eis que o Senhor sairá do seu lugar para castigar os moradores da terra, por causa da sua iniquidade; e a terra descobrirá o seu sangue e não encobrirá mais aqueles que foram mortos.
