1 That which Isaiah, son of Amoz saw in vision,concerning Judah and Jerusalem.2 But it shall come to pass, in the afterpart of the days, That the mountain of the house of Yahweh Shall be, set up, as the head of the mountains, And be exalted above the hills,And all the nations, shall stream thereunto;3 And many peoples shall go and sayCome ye, and let us ascend Unto the mountain of Yahweh Unto the house of the God of Jacob, That he may teach us of his ways, And we may walk in his paths,For, out of Zion, shall go forth a law, And the word of Yahweh out of Jerusalem;4 And he will judge between the nations, And be umpire to many peoples,And they will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning-hooks, Nationagainst nation, shall not lift up sword, Neither shall they learn any more to make war,5 O house of Jacob! come ye and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.6 Therefore hast thou abandoned thy people the house of Jacob, Because they have become full of the And use hidden arts like the Philistines,And with the children of foreigners, strike hands;7 So that filled is their land with silver and gold, And there is no end to their treasures,And filled is theft land with horses, And there is no end to their chariots;8 And filled is their land with idols,To the work of their own hands, do they bow themselves down, To that which they made with their own fingers.9 So the mean man boweth down And the great man stoopeth low,Therefore do not thou forgive them!10 Enter into the rock, Or hide thee in the dust,Because of the terribleness of Yahweh, And for his majestic splendour.11 The lofty looks of mean men, shall be humbled, And, the haughtiness of great men, shall be bowed down,And Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day.12 For, a day of Yahweh of hosts, Upon every one who is high and lofty,And upon every one who is lifted up, And he shall be brought low;13 And upon all cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up,And upon all the oaks of Bashan;14 And upon all the lofty mountains,And upon all the uplifted hills;15 And upon every high tower,And upon every fortress wall;16 And upon all the ships of Tarshish,And upon all desirable banners.17 And the haughtiness of mean men, shall be humbled,And the loftiness of great men, shall be laid low,And Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day.18 And, the idols, shall wholly pass away;19 And they shall enter into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of clay,Because of the terribleness of Yahweh, And for his majestic splendour, When he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.20 In that day shall the son of earth cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold,which had been made for him to worship, into the hole of the mice, and to the bats;21 That he may enter into the clefts of the rocks, and into the fissures of the crags,Because of the terribleness of Yahweh, And for his majestic splendour, When he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.22 Cease ye from the son of earth, In whose nostrils is but a breath,For wherein to be reckoned upon, is he?

1 Visão que teve Isaías, filho de Amoz, a respeito de Judá e de Jerusalém.

2 E acontecerá, nos últimos dias, que se firmará o monte da Casa do Senhor no cume dos montes e se exalçará por cima dos outeiros; e concorrerão a ele todas as nações. 3 E virão muitos povos e dirão: Vinde, subamos ao monte do Senhor, à casa do Deus de Jacó, para que nos ensine o que concerne aos seus caminhos, e andemos nas suas veredas; porque de Sião sairá a lei, e de Jerusalém, a palavra do Senhor. 4 E ele exercerá o seu juízo sobre as nações e repreenderá a muitos povos; e estes converterão as suas espadas em enxadões e as suas lanças, em foices; não levantará espada nação contra nação, nem aprenderão mais a guerrear. 5 Vinde, ó casa de Jacó, e andemos na luz do Senhor.

6 Mas tu desamparaste o teu povo, a casa de Jacó; porque se encheram dos costumes do Oriente, e são agoureiros como os filisteus, e se associam com os filhos dos estranhos. 7 E a sua terra está cheia de prata e ouro, e não têm fim os seus tesouros; também está cheia de cavalos a sua terra, e os seus carros não têm fim. 8 Também está cheia de ídolos a sua terra; inclinaram-se perante a obra das suas mãos, diante daquilo que fabricaram os seus dedos. 9 Ali, o povo se abate, e os nobres se humilham; portanto, lhes não perdoarás. 10 Vai, entra nas rochas e esconde-te no pó, da presença espantosa do Senhor e da glória da sua majestade. 11 Os olhos altivos dos homens serão abatidos, e a altivez dos varões será humilhada; e só o Senhor será exaltado naquele dia.

12 Porque o dia do Senhor dos Exércitos será contra todo o soberbo e altivo e contra todo o que se exalta, para que seja abatido; 13 e contra todos os cedros do Líbano, altos e sublimes; e contra todos os carvalhos de Basã; 14 e contra todos os montes altos, e contra todos os outeiros elevados; 15 e contra toda torre alta e contra todo muro firme; 16 e contra todos os navios de Társis e contra todas as pinturas desejáveis. 17 E a altivez do homem será humilhada, e a altivez dos varões se abaterá, e só o Senhor será exaltado naquele dia.

18 E todos os ídolos totalmente desaparecerão. 19 Então, os homens se meterão nas concavidades das rochas e nas cavernas da terra, por causa da presença espantosa do Senhor e por causa da glória da sua majestade, quando ele se levantar para assombrar a terra. 20 Naquele dia, os homens lançarão às toupeiras e aos morcegos os seus ídolos de prata e os seus ídolos de ouro, que fizeram para ante eles se prostrarem. 21 E meter-se-ão pelas fendas das rochas e pelas cavernas das penhas, por causa da presença espantosa do Senhor e por causa da glória da sua majestade, quando ele se levantar para assombrar a terra. 22 Afastai-vos, pois, do homem cujo fôlego está no seu nariz; porque em que se deve ele estimar?
