1 Comfort yecomfort ye my people,Saith your God.2 Speak ye unto the heart of Jerusalem, And cry unto her,That accomplished is her warfare, That accepted is her punishment,That she hath received, at the hand of Yahweh, According to the full measure of all her sins.3 A voice of one crying!In the desert, prepare ye the way of Yahweh,Make smooth in the waste plain a highway for our God:4 Let, every valley, be exalted, And every mountain and hill, be made low,And, the steep ground become, level, And, the chain of hillsa plain:5 Then shall be revealed the glory of Yahweh,And all flesh shall see it together, For, the mouth of Yahweh, hath spoken!6 A voice saying Cry! And one saidWhat should I cry? All flesh, is grass, And, all the grace thereof, like the flower of the field:7 The grass hath withered The flower hath faded, Because, the breath of Yahweh, hath blown upon it! Surely the people is grass!8 The grass, hath withered, The flower, hath faded,But the word of our God, shall stand unto times age-abiding!9 To a high mountain, get ye up, O heraldband of Zion, Lift high with strength your voice, O heraldband of Jerusalem,Lift it high, do not fear, Say to the cities of JudahLo! your God!10 Lo! My Lord, Yahweh, as a mighty one, doth come, And, his own arm, is about to rule for him,Lo! his reward, is with him, And, his recompense, before him;11 Like a shepherd, his flock, will he tend, In his own arm, will he take up the lambs, And in his own bosom, will he carry12 Who hath measured, with the hollow of his hand, the waters. Or the heavens with a span, hath meted out, Or hath comprehended, in a measure, the dust of the earth, Or weighed, in scales, the mountains, Or the hills, in a balance?13 Who hath proved the spirit of Yahweh? Or being his counsellor hath been giving him knowledge?14 With whom hath he taken counselAnd he hath given him intelligence, And instructed him in the path of justice,And taught him knowledge, And in the way of intelligence, hath been giving him understanding?15 Lo! nations, Are us a drop on a bucket, And as fine dust on a balance, are accounted,Lo! islands, like an atom, can he hoist;16 And, Lebanon, is not sufficient to burn,Nor, the beasts thereof sufficient for an ascending-sacrifice!17 All nations, are as nothing before him,A thing of nought or a waste, are they accounted unto him?18 Unto whom then can ye liken GOD? Or, what likeness, can ye compare unto him?19 The image, hath been cast by an artificer, And a goldsmith, with gold, overlayeth it,And, chains of silver, he worketh.20 The needy offerer, of a tree that will not rot, maketh choice,A skilled artificer, seeketh he out for himself to construct an image that shall not totter,21 Have ye never taken note? Have ye never heard? Hath it not from the beginning, been told you? Have ye not been led to discern, from the foundations of the earth?22 It is he who sitteth upon the circle of the earth, While the inhabitants thereof are, as grass-hoppers,Who stretcheth forth, as a curtain, the heavens, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;23 Who delivereth dignitaries to nothingness,Judges of earth, like a desolation, hath he made:24 Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely hath their stock, begun to take root in the earth, When he hath just blown upon them and they have withered, And, a whirlwind, as though they haft been chaff, carrieth them away.25 Unto whom then, can ye liken me, or can I be equal? Saith the Holy One.26 Lift on high your eyesand see who hath created these, That bringeth forth, by number, their host,To all of them by name, doth call, Because of the abundance of vigour and alertness of strength, not one, is missing!27 Wherefore, shouldest thou say, O Jacob, or speak, O Israel,Hidden is my path from Yahweh, And from my God, my vindication, will pass?28 Hast thou not known, Hast thou not heard, That The God of age-past timeYahweh The Creator of the ends of the earth Fainteth not neither groweth wearyThere is no searching of his understanding:29 Giving to him that fainteth, strength, And to him that hath no vigour, he causeth, power to abound?30 Youths both faint and grow weary, And, young warriorsthey fall, they fall;31 But, they who wait for Yahweh, shall renew their strength, They shall mount on strong pinion like eagles,They shall run and not grew weary, They shall walk and not faint.

1 Consolai, consolai o meu povo, diz o vosso Deus. 2 Falai benignamente a Jerusalém e bradai-lhe que já a sua servidão é acabada, que a sua iniquidade está expiada e que já recebeu em dobro da mão do Senhor, por todos os seus pecados.

3 Voz do que clama no deserto: Preparai o caminho do Senhor; endireitai no ermo vereda a nosso Deus. 4 Todo vale será exaltado, e todo monte e todo outeiro serão abatidos; e o que está torcido se endireitará, e o que é áspero se aplainará. 5 E a glória do Senhor se manifestará, e toda carne juntamente verá que foi a boca do Senhor que disse isso.

6 Voz que diz: Clama; e alguém disse: Que hei de clamar? Toda carne é erva, e toda a sua beleza, como as flores do campo. 7 Seca-se a erva, e caem as flores, soprando nelas o hálito do Senhor. Na verdade, o povo é erva. 8 Seca-se a erva, e caem as flores, mas a palavra de nosso Deus subsiste eternamente.

9 Tu, anunciador de boas-novas a Sião, sobe a um monte alto. Tu, anunciador de boas-novas a Jerusalém, levanta a voz fortemente; levanta-a, não temas e dize às cidades de Judá: Eis aqui está o vosso Deus. 10 Eis que o Senhor Jeová virá como o forte, e o seu braço dominará; eis que o seu galardão vem com ele, e o seu salário, diante da sua face. 11 Como pastor, apascentará o seu rebanho; entre os braços, recolherá os cordeirinhos e os levará no seu regaço; as que amamentam, ele as guiará mansamente.

12 Quem mediu com o seu punho as águas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos, e recolheu em uma medida o pó da terra, e pesou os montes e os outeiros em balanças? 13 Quem guiou o Espírito do Senhor? E que conselheiro o ensinou? 14 Com quem tomou conselho, para que lhe desse entendimento, e lhe mostrasse as veredas do juízo, e lhe ensinasse sabedoria, e lhe fizesse notório o caminho da ciência? 15 Eis que as nações são consideradas por ele como a gota de um balde e como o pó miúdo das balanças; eis que lança por aí as ilhas como a uma coisa pequeníssima. 16 Nem todo o Líbano basta para o fogo, nem os seus animais bastam para holocaustos. 17 Todas as nações são como nada perante ele; ele considera-as menos do que nada e como uma coisa vã. 18 A quem, pois, fareis semelhante a Deus ou com que o comparareis?

19 O artífice grava a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de ouro e cadeias de prata funde para ela. 20 O empobrecido, que não pode oferecer tanto, escolhe madeira que não se corrompe; artífice sábio busca, para gravar uma imagem que se não pode mover.

21 Porventura, não sabeis? Porventura, não ouvis? Ou desde o princípio se vos não notificou isso mesmo? Ou não atentastes para os fundamentos da terra? 22 Ele é o que está assentado sobre o globo da terra, cujos moradores são para ele como gafanhotos; ele é o que estende os céus como cortina e os desenrola como tenda para neles habitar; 23 o que faz voltar ao nada os príncipes e torna coisa vã os juízes da terra. 24 E não se plantam, nem se semeiam, nem se arraiga na terra o seu tronco cortado; sopra sobre eles, e secam-se; e um tufão, como pragana, os levará.

25 A quem pois me fareis semelhante, para que lhe seja semelhante? — diz o Santo. 26 Levantai ao alto os olhos e vede quem criou estas coisas, quem produz por conta o seu exército, quem a todas chama pelo seu nome; por causa da grandeza das suas forças e pela fortaleza do seu poder, nenhuma faltará. 27 Por que, pois, dizes, ó Jacó, e tu falas, ó Israel: O meu caminho está encoberto ao Senhor, e o meu juízo passa de largo pelo meu Deus? 28 Não sabes, não ouviste que o eterno Deus, o Senhor, o Criador dos confins da terra, nem se cansa, nem se fatiga? Não há esquadrinhação do seu entendimento. 29 Dá vigor ao cansado e multiplica as forças ao que não tem nenhum vigor. 30 Os jovens se cansarão e se fatigarão, e os jovens certamente cairão. 31 Mas os que esperam no Senhor renovarão as suas forças e subirão com asas como águias; correrão e não se cansarão; caminharão e não se fatigarão.
