1 Bel, hath crouched, Nebo, is cowering, Their images, are delivered up to beast and to cattle,The things ye carried about, are become a load, A burden, to the weary!2 They have cowered they have crouched at once, And they cannot rescue the burden,But their own soul, into captivity, hath departed.3 Hearken unto me O house of Jacob, Even all the remnant of the house of Israel,Who have been borne from birth, Who have been carried from nativity:4 Even unto old age, I, am, the same, And unto grey hairs, I, will bear the burden,I have made and, I, will carry, Yea, I, will bear the burden and will deliver,5 To whom can ye liken me or make me equal? Or compare me, and we be like?6 They who pour gold out of a purse, And who weigh silver in a balance,Who hire a goldsmith that he may make it into a GOD, They adore, yea they bow down;7 They carry him about on the shoulder They bear the burden of himand set him in his place that he may stand,Out of his place, will he not move,Though one even make outcry unto him, he will not answer, Out of ones trouble, he will not save him.8 Remember ye this and shew yourselves men,Bring it back, ye transgressors, to your minds;9 Remember ye the things named in advance from age-past times,For, I, am, The Mighty One, and there is none else, The Adorable and there is none like me!10 Declaring from the beginning, the latter end, And from olden time, that which had never been done,Saying My purpose shall stand, and All my pleasure, will I perform;11 Calling, From the East, a Bird of Prey, From a far country, the Man I intended,Yea I have spoken I will also bring it to pass, I have planned, I will also do it.12 Hearken unto me, Ye valiant of heart,Who are far away from righteousness:13 I have brought near my righteousness. It shall not be far away, And my deliverance, shall not linger,But I will give In Zion, deliverance, To Israel, my glory.

1 Já abatido está Bel, Nebo já se encurvou, os seus ídolos são postos sobre os animais, sobre as bestas; as cargas dos vossos fardos são canseira para as bestas já cansadas. 2 Juntamente se encurvaram e se abateram; não puderam livrar-se da carga, mas a sua alma entrou em cativeiro.

3 Ouvi-me, ó casa de Jacó e todo o resíduo da casa de Israel; vós, a quem trouxe nos braços desde o ventre e levei desde a madre. 4 E até à velhice eu serei o mesmo e ainda até às cãs eu vos trarei; eu o fiz, e eu vos levarei, e eu vos trarei e vos guardarei. 5 A quem me fareis semelhante, e com quem me igualareis, e me comparareis, para que sejamos semelhantes? 6 Gastam o ouro da bolsa e pesam a prata nas balanças; assalariam o ourives, e ele faz um deus, e diante dele se prostram e se inclinam. 7 Sobre os ombros o tomam, o levam e o põem no seu lugar; ali está, do seu lugar não se move; e, se recorrem a ele, resposta nenhuma dá, nem livra ninguém da sua tribulação.

8 Lembrai-vos disso e tende ânimo; reconduzi-o ao coração, ó prevaricadores. 9 Lembrai-vos das coisas passadas desde a antiguidade: que eu sou Deus, e não há outro Deus, não há outro semelhante a mim; 10 que anuncio o fim desde o princípio e, desde a antiguidade, as coisas que ainda não sucederam; que digo: o meu conselho será firme, e farei toda a minha vontade; 11 que chamo a ave de rapina desde o Oriente e o homem do meu conselho, desde terras remotas; porque assim o disse, e assim acontecerá; eu o determinei e também o farei.

12 Ouvi-me, ó duros de coração, vós que estais longe da justiça. 13 Faço chegar a minha justiça, e não estará ao longe, e a minha salvação não tardará; mas estabelecerei em Sião a salvação e em Israel, a minha glória.
