1 In those days, was Hezekiah sick, unto death,and Isaiah the prophet son of Amoz came in unto him, and said unto himThus, saith Yahweh, Set in order thy house, for, about to die thou art and shalt not recover.2 Then Hezekiah turned his face unto the wall,and prayed unto Yahweh;3 and said,I beseech thee, O Yahweh, remember, I pray thee, how I have walked before thee in faithfulness and with an undivided heart, and, that which is good in thine eyes, have I done. And Hezekiah wept aloud.4 Then came the word of Yahweh unto, Isaiah, saying:5 Go, and say unto HezekiahThus, saith Yahweh, the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears,Behold me! about to add unto thy days, fifteen years;6 And out of the hand of the king of Assyria, will I deliver thee, and this city; And I will throw a covering over this city.7 And, this, to thee, shall be the sign from Yahweh,that Yahweh will do this thing which he hath spoken:8 Behold me! causing the shadow on the steps, which hath come gone down on the steps of Ahaz with the sun, to return, backwards ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps, by the steps which it had come down.9 the writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and then recovered from his sickness:10 I, saidIn the noontide of my days, I must enter the gates of hades,I am deprived of the residue of ray years!11 I saidI shall not see Yah, Yah, in the land of the living, I shall discern the son of earth no longer, with the dwellers in the quiet land.12 My dwelling, hath been broken up. And is stripped from me, like a shepherds tent,I have roiled upas a weavermy life From the loom, doth he cut me off, From day until night, Thou wilt finish me.13 I cried out, until morning, like a lion, Thus, will he break all my bones! From day until night, Thou wilt finish me!14 As a twittering swallow, so, do I chatter, I coo as a dove,Mine eyes languish through looking on high, O My Lord! distress is upon memy Surety!15 What can I say? Since he hath promised for me, Himself, will perform. I will go softly, all my years. Because of the bitterness of my soul,16 O My Lord! on those things do men live,And, altogether in them, is the life of my spirit, When thou hast strengthened me and made me live.17 Lo! for well-being, I had bitternessbitterness,But, thou, cleaving unto my soul, hast raised me from the pit of corruption, For thou hast cast, behind thy back all my sins.18 For, hades, cannot praise thee Nor, death, celebrate thee,They who go down to the pit cannot wait for thy faithfulness.19 The living, the living, he, can praise thee, As I do this day,A father, to his children, can make known thy faithfulness.20 Yahweh, to save me,Therefore, on my stringed instruments, will we playAll the days of our life By the house of Yahweh.21 And Isaiah had said, Let them take a cake of figs, and let them press it over the boil, that he may recover.22 And Hezekiah had saidWhat is the signthat I shall go up unto the house of Yahweh?

1 Naqueles dias, Ezequias adoeceu de uma enfermidade mortal; e veio a ele Isaías, filho de Amoz, o profeta, e lhe disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Põe em ordem a tua casa, porque morrerás e não viverás. 2 Então, virou Ezequias o rosto para a parede e orou ao Senhor. 3 E disse: Ah! Senhor, lembra-te, peço-te, de que andei diante de ti em verdade e com coração perfeito e fiz o que era reto aos teus olhos. E chorou Ezequias muitíssimo. 4 Então, veio a palavra do Senhor a Isaías, dizendo: 5 Vai e dize a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Davi, teu pai: Ouvi a tua oração e vi as tuas lágrimas; eis que acrescentarei aos teus dias quinze anos. 6 E livrar-te-ei das mãos do rei da Assíria, a ti, e a esta cidade; eu defenderei esta cidade. 7 E isto te será da parte do Senhor como sinal de que o Senhor cumprirá esta palavra que falou: 8 eis que farei que a sombra dos graus, que passou com o sol pelos graus do relógio de Acaz, volte dez graus atrás. Assim, recuou o sol dez graus pelos graus que já tinha andado.

9 Cântico de Ezequias, rei de Judá, de quando adoeceu e sarou de sua enfermidade. 10 Eu disse: na tranquilidade de meus dias, ir-me-ei às portas da sepultura; já estou privado do resto de meus anos. 11 Eu disse: já não verei mais ao Senhor na terra dos viventes; jamais verei o homem com os moradores do mundo. 12 O tempo da minha vida se foi e foi removido de mim, como choça de pastor; cortei como tecelão a minha vida; como que do tear me cortará; desde a manhã até à noite, me acabarás.

13 Eu sosseguei até à madrugada; como um leão, quebrou todos os meus ossos; desde a manhã até à noite, me acabarás.

14 Como o grou ou a andorinha, assim eu chilreava e gemia como a pomba; alçava os olhos ao alto; ó Senhor, ando oprimido! Fica por meu fiador.

15 Que direi? Como mo prometeu, assim o fez; assim, passarei mansamente por todos os meus anos, por causa da amargura da minha alma. 16 Senhor, com estas coisas se vive, e em todas elas está a vida do meu espírito; portanto, cura-me e faze-me viver. 17 Eis que, para minha paz, eu estive em grande amargura; tu, porém, tão amorosamente abraçaste a minha alma, que não caiu na cova da corrupção, porque lançaste para trás das tuas costas todos os meus pecados. 18 Porque não pode louvar-te a sepultura, nem a morte glorificar-te; nem esperarão em tua verdade os que descem à cova. 19 Os vivos, os vivos, esses te louvarão, como eu hoje faço; o pai aos filhos fará notória a tua verdade. 20 O Senhor veio salvar-me; pelo que, tangendo eu meus instrumentos, nós o louvaremos todos os dias de nossa vida na Casa do Senhor. 21 E dissera Isaías: Tomem uma pasta de figos e a ponham como emplasto sobre a chaga; e sarará. 22 Também dissera Ezequias: Qual será o sinal de que hei de subir à Casa do Senhor?
