That which I have heard from Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, Have I declared, unto you.11 The oracle on Dumah: Unto me, is one cryingout of Seir, Watchman! how far gone is the night? Watchman, how far gone is the night?12 Said the watchman, There cometh a morning. But also a night,If ye will enquire, enquire, yeCome, again!13 The oracle on Arabia,Among the shrubs in Arabia, must ye lodge, Ye caravans of Dedanites.14 To meet the thirsty, bring ye water,Ye dwellers in the land of Tema; With bread for him, get in advance of him that is in flight!15 For, before swords, have they fled: Before a sword that is drawn, Before a bow that is bent, And before the stress of war.16 For, thus, hath My Lord said unto me,Within a year according to the yearn of a hireling, shall fall all the glory of Kedar;17 And, the remnant of the record of bowmen, The heroes of the sons of Kedar, shall become few; For Yahweh God of Israel, hath spoken.

1 Peso do deserto do mar. Como os tufões de vento do Sul, que tudo assolam, ele virá do deserto, da terra horrível. 2 Visão dura se me manifesta: o pérfido trata perfidamente, e o destruidor anda destruindo. Sobe, ó Elão, sitia, ó medo, que já fiz cessar todo o seu gemido. 3 Pelo que os meus lombos estão cheios de grande enfermidade; angústias se apoderaram de mim como as angústias da que dá à luz; estou tão atribulado, que não posso ouvir, e tão desfalecido, que não posso ver. 4 O meu coração está anelante, e o horror apavora-me; o crepúsculo, que desejava, se me tornou em tremores.

Então, respondeu e disse: Caída é Babilônia, caída é! E todas as imagens de escultura dos seus deuses se quebraram contra a terra. 10 Ah! Malhada minha, e trigo da minha eira! O que ouvi do Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, isso vos anunciei.

11 Peso de Dumá. Gritam-me de Seir: Guarda, que houve de noite? Guarda, que houve de noite? 12 E disse o guarda: Vem a manhã, e, também, a noite; se quereis perguntar, perguntai; voltai, vinde.

13 Peso contra a Arábia. Nos bosques da Arábia, passareis a noite, ó viandantes dedanitas. 14 Saí, com água, ao encontro dos sedentos; os moradores da terra de Tema encontraram os que fugiam com seu pão. 15 Porque fogem diante das espadas, diante da espada nua, e diante do arco armado, e diante do peso da guerra. 16 Porque assim me disse o Senhor: Dentro de um ano, tal como os anos de assalariados, toda a glória de Quedar desaparecerá. 17 E os restantes dos números dos flecheiros, os valentes dos filhos de Quedar, serão diminuídos, porque assim o disse o Senhor, Deus de Israel.
