Of David. 2 \6:1\O Lord, do not be bitter with me in your wrath; do not send punishment on me in the heat of your passion.3 \6:2\Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am wasted away: make me well, for even my bones are troubled.4 \6:3\My soul is in bitter trouble; and you, O Lord, how long?5 \6:4\Come back, O Lord, make my soul free; O give me salvation because of your mercy.6 \6:5\For in death there is no memory of you; in the underworld who will give you praise?7 \6:6\The voice of my sorrow is a weariness to me; all the night I make my bed wet with weeping; it is watered by the drops flowing from my eyes.8 \6:7\My eyes are wasting away with trouble; they are becoming old because of all those who are against me.9 \6:8\Go from me, all you workers of evil; for the Lord has given ear to the voice of my weeping.10 \6:9\The Lord has given ear to my request; the Lord has let my prayer come before him.11 \6:10\Let all those who are against me be shamed and deeply troubled; let them be turned back and suddenly put to shame.

O Eterno, non correggermi nella tua ira, e non castigarmi nel tuo cruccio.2 Abbi pietà di me, o Eterno, perché son tutto fiacco; sanami, o Eterno, perché le mie ossa son tutte tremanti.3 Anche l’anima mia è tutta tremante; e tu, o Eterno, infino a quando?4 Ritorna, o Eterno, libera l’anima mia; salvami, per amor della tua benignità.5 Poiché nella morte non c’è memoria di te; chi ti celebrerà nel soggiorno de’ morti?6 Io sono esausto a forza di gemere; ogni notte allago di pianto il mio letto e bagno delle mie lacrime il mio giaciglio.7 L’occhio mio si consuma dal dolore, invecchia a cagione di tutti i miei nemici.8 Ritraetevi da me, voi tutti operatori d’iniquità; poiché l’Eterno ha udita la voce del mio pianto.9 L’Eterno ha udita la mia supplicazione, l’Eterno accoglie la mia preghiera.10 Tutti i miei nemici saran confusi e grandemente smarriti; volteranno le spalle e saranno svergognati in un attimo.
