(Selah.)6 \89:5\In heaven let them give praise for your wonders, O Lord; and your unchanging faith among the saints.7 \89:6\For who is there in the heavens in comparison with the Lord? who is like the Lord among the sons of the gods?8 \89:7\God is greatly to be feared among the saints, and to be honoured over all those who are about him.9 \89:8\O Lord God of armies, who is strong like you, O Jah? and your unchanging faith is round about you.10 \89:9\You have rule over the sea in storm; when its waves are troubled, you make them calm.11 \89:10\Rahab was crushed by you like one wounded to death; with your strong arm you put to flight all your haters.12 \89:11\Yours are the heavens, and the earth is yours; you have made the world, and everything which is in it.13 \89:12\You have made the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon are sounding with joy at your name.14 \89:13\Yours is an arm of power; strong is your hand and high your right hand.15 \89:14\The seat of your kingdom is resting on righteousness and right judging: mercy and good faith come before your face.16 \89:15\Happy are the people who have knowledge of the holy cry: the light of your face, O Lord, will be shining on their way.17 \89:16\In your name will they have joy all the day: in your righteousness will they be lifted up.18 \89:17\For you are the glory of their strength; in your pleasure will our horn be lifted up.19 \89:18\For our breastplate is the Lord; and our king is the Holy One of Israel's.20 \89:19\Then your voice came to your holy one in a vision, saying, I have put the crown on a strong one, lifting up one taken from among the people.21 \89:20\I have made discovery of David my servant; I have put my holy oil on his head.22 \89:21\My hand will be his support; my arm will give him strength.23 \89:22\The deceit of those who are against him will not overcome him; he will not be troubled by the sons of evil.24 \89:23\I will have those who are against him broken before his face, and his haters will be crushed under my blows.25 \89:24\But my faith and my mercy will be with him; and in my name will his horn be lifted up.26 \89:25\I will put his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.27 \89:26\He will say to me, You are my father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.28 \89:27\And I will make him the first of my sons, most high over the kings of the earth.29 \89:28\I will keep my mercy for him for ever; my agreement with him will not be changed.30 \89:29\His seed will keep their place for ever; his kingdom will be eternal, like the heavens.31 \89:30\If his children give up my law, and are not ruled by my decisions;32 \89:31\If my rules are broken, and my orders are not kept;33 \89:32\Then I will send punishment on them for their sin; my rod will be the reward of their evil-doing.34 \89:33\But I will not take away my mercy from him, and will not be false to my faith.35 \89:34\I will be true to my agreement; the things which have gone out of my lips will not be changed.36 \89:35\I have made an oath once by my holy name, that I will not be false to David.37 \89:36\His seed will not come to an end for ever; the seat of his kingdom will be like the sun before me.38 \89:37\It will be fixed for ever like the moon; and the witness in heaven is true. (Selah.)39 \89:38\But you have put him away in disgust; you have been angry with the king of your selection.40 \89:39\You have made your agreement with your servant of no effect: you have had no respect for his crown, it has come down even to the earth.41 \89:40\All his walls are broken down; you have given his strong towers to destruction.42 \89:41\All those who come by take away his goods; he is laughed at by his neighbours.43 \89:42\You have given power to the right hand of his haters; you have made glad all those who are against him.44 \89:43\His sword is turned back; you have not been his support in the fight.45 \89:44\You have put an end to his glory: the seat of his kingdom has been levelled to the earth.46 \89:45\You have made him old before his time; he is covered with shame. E la tua fedeltà ti circonda da ogni parte.9 Tu domi l’orgoglio del mare; quando le sue onde s’innalzano, tu le acqueti.10 Tu hai fiaccato l’Egitto, ferendolo a morte; col tuo braccio potente, hai disperso i tuoi nemici.11 I cieli son tuoi, tua pure è la terra; tu hai fondato il mondo e tutto ciò ch’è in esso.12 Hai creato il settentrione e il mezzodì; il Tabor e l’Hermon mandan grida di gioia al tuo nome.13 Tu hai un braccio potente; la tua mano è forte, alta è la tua destra.14 Giustizia e diritto son la base del tuo trono, benignità e verità van davanti alla tua faccia.15 Beato il popolo che conosce il grido di giubilo; esso cammina, o Eterno, alla luce del tuo volto;16 festeggia del continuo nel tuo nome, ed è esaltato dalla tua giustizia.17 Perché tu sei la gloria della loro forza; e la nostra potenza è esaltata dal tuo favore.18 Poiché il nostro scudo appartiene all’Eterno, e il nostro re al Santo d’Israele.19 Tu parlasti già in visione al tuo diletto, e dicesti: Ho prestato aiuto a un prode, ho innalzato un eletto d’infra il popolo.20 Ho trovato Davide, mio servitore, l’ho unto con l’olio mio santo;21 la mia mano sarà salda nel sostenerlo, e il mio braccio lo fortificherà.22 Il nemico non lo sorprenderà, e il perverso non l’opprimerà.23 Io fiaccherò dinanzi a lui i suoi nemici, e sconfiggerò quelli che l’odiano.24 La mia fedeltà e la mia benignità saranno con lui, e nel mio nome la sua potenza sarà esaltata.25 E stenderò la sua mano sul mare, e la sua destra sui fiumi.26 Egli m’invocherà, dicendo: Tu sei il mio Padre, il mio Dio, e la ròcca della mia salvezza.27 Io altresì lo farò il primogenito, il più eccelso dei re della terra.28 Io gli conserverò la mia benignità in perpetuo, e il mio patto rimarrà fermo con lui.29 Io renderò la sua progenie eterna, e il suo trono simile ai giorni de’ cieli.30 Se i suoi figliuoli abbandonan la mia legge e non camminano secondo i miei ordini,31 se violano i miei statuti e non osservano i miei comandamenti,32 io punirò la loro trasgressione con la verga, e la loro iniquità con percosse;33 ma non gli ritirerò la mia benignità, e non smentirò la mia fedeltà.34 Io non violerò il mio patto, e non muterò ciò ch’è uscito dalle mie labbra.35 Una cosa ho giurata per la mia santità, e non mentirò a Davide:36 La sua progenie durerà in eterno, e il suo trono sarà davanti a me come il sole,37 sarà stabile in perpetuo come la luna; e il testimone ch’è nei cieli è fedele. Sela.38 Eppure tu l’hai reietto e sprezzato, ti sei gravemente adirato contro il tuo unto.39 Tu hai rinnegato il patto stretto col tuo servitore, hai profanato la sua corona gettandola a terra.40 Tu hai rotto i suoi ripari, hai ridotto in ruine le sue fortezze.41 Tutti i passanti l’han saccheggiato, è diventato il vituperio de’ suoi vicini.42 Tu hai esaltato la destra de’ suoi avversari, hai rallegrato tutti i suoi nemici.43 Tu hai fatto ripiegare il taglio della sua spada, e non l’hai sostenuto nella battaglia.44 Tu hai fatto cessare il suo splendore, e hai gettato a terra il suo trono.45 Tu hai scorciato i giorni della sua giovinezza, l’hai coperto di vergogna. Sela.46 Fino a quando, o Eterno, ti nasconderai tu del continuo, e l’ira tua arderà come un fuoco?47 Ricordati quant’è fugace la mia vita, per qual nulla tu hai creato tutti i figliuoli degli uomini!48 Qual è l’uomo che viva senza veder la morte? che scampi l’anima sua dal potere del soggiorno de’ orti? Sela.49 Signore, dove sono le tue benignità antiche, le quali giurasti a Davide nella tua fedeltà?50 Ricorda, o Signore, il vituperio fatto ai tuoi servitori: ricordati ch’io porto in seno quello di tutti i grandi popoli,51 il vituperio di cui t’hanno coperto i tuoi nemici, o Eterno, il vituperio che han gettato sui passi del tuo unto.52 Benedetto sia l’Eterno in perpetuo.
