1 Ai de você, inimigo destruidor que nunca foi destruído!
Ai de você, traidor que nunca foi traído!
Quando você acabar de destruir, será destruído;
quando acabar de trair, será traído.
2 Ó Senhor Deus, tem compaixão de nós,
pois esperamos que nos ajudes.
Sê o nosso protetor todos os dias,
sê o nosso Salvador em tempos de dificuldades.
3 Os povos fogem quando ouvem o estrondo da tua voz.
Quando ages, as nações se espalham,
4 e os inimigos delas, como uma nuvem de gafanhotos,
levam embora tudo o que elas têm.
5 O Senhor é majestoso, pois mora nas alturas;
ele encherá Sião de justiça e de honestidade
6 e fará com que o seu povo viva em segurança,
dando-lhe salvação completa, sabedoria e conhecimento.
O temor do Senhor é o tesouro mais precioso que o seu povo tem.
7 Os soldados valentes estão se lamentando nas ruas,
e os embaixadores que procuravam fazer a paz choram amargamente.
8 As estradas estão vazias,
ninguém viaja por elas.
Os acordos são quebrados,
os tratados são desfeitos;
ninguém é respeitado.
9 As terras do país vão se gastando e se desfazendo;
as florestas dos montes Líbanos estão secas,
o vale de Sarom virou um deserto,
e na região de Basã e no monte Carmelo
as árvores perderam as suas folhas.
10 O Senhor diz aos povos:
"Agora, eu vou agir;
vou mostrar o meu poder e a minha grandeza.
11 O que vocês inventam vale menos do que a palha;
o que vocês planejam é tão sem valor como o lixo.
O meu sopro, como um fogo, os destruirá.
12 Vocês vão virar cinzas;
queimarão como espinhos jogados no fogo.
13 Vocês todos, os que estão longe e os que estão perto,
escutem o que eu fiz
e reconheçam o meu poder!"
14 Em Sião, os pecadores tremem de medo;
cheios de pavor, eles perguntam:
"Quem poderá viver perto desse fogo devorador,
perto dessas chamas que não param de queimar?"
15 Somente poderá fazer isso quem age corretamente
e sempre diz a verdade;
que não fica rico à custa dos fracos,
nem aceita dinheiro para torcer a justiça;
que não se junta com os que planejam crimes de morte,
nem concorda com os planos dos maus.
16 Quem age assim viverá seguro,
e em fortalezas feitas de pedras ele encontrará refúgio;
ele sempre terá comida,
e nunca lhe faltará água para beber.
17 Mais uma vez vocês verão um rei com toda a sua glória,
governando um país imenso.
18 Vocês pensarão no medo que sentiram no passado e perguntarão:
"Onde estão aqueles que nos forçavam a pagar tributos,
aqueles que cobravam os impostos?
Onde estão os que controlavam as nossas fortalezas?"
19 Vocês nunca mais verão aquele povo orgulhoso,
aquela gente que fala uma língua estranha,
uma língua difícil que ninguém entende.
20 Vejam Sião, a cidade onde fazemos as nossas festas!
Jerusalém será uma cidade segura,
será como uma barraca que não pode ser mudada de lugar;
nenhuma das suas estacas será arrancada,
e nenhuma das suas cordas será arrebentada.
21 Ali estará conosco o Senhor, o nosso glorioso Deus.
Jerusalém será um lugar de grandes rios e ribeirões,
mas neles não navegarão os barcos dos inimigos
nem os seus grandes navios a vela.
22,23 As cordas desses navios estão frouxas:
o mastro não fica firme,
e as velas não podem ser estendidas.
Assim pegaremos todas as riquezas do inimigo;
serão tantas, que até os aleijados conseguirão pegar a sua parte.
Pois o Senhor é o nosso Juiz,
é ele quem nos governa;
o Senhor é o nosso Rei,
é ele quem vai nos salvar.
24 Nenhum morador de Jerusalém ficará doente,
e os pecados de todos serão perdoados.
1 Alas! thou plunderer when, thou, hadst not been plundered, And thou traitor when they had not betrayed thee: When thou hast ceased plundering, thou shalt be plundered, When thou hast left off betraying, they shall betray thee.
2 O Yahweh! shew us favour,For thee, have we waited,Be thou their arm every morning, Yea our salvation in the time of distress.
3 At the noise of a tumult, the peoples retreated,When thou didst lift thyself up, nations were scattered.
4 Then shall your spoil be gathered as the gathering of the caterpillar,As the swift running of locusts, is he about to run upon them.
5 Exalted is Yahweh, for he inhabiteth a height,He hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
6 So shall a wealth of deliverances, wisdom and knowledge, become the stability of thy times,the reverence of Yahweh, the game is his treasure.
7 Lo! their heroes, have cried out openly,the messengers of peace, in bitterness, continue weeping :
8 The highways are deserted, The passer-by on the path, hath ceased,He hath broken covenant, He hath despised cities, He hath made no account of men.
9 The land mourneth, languisheth, Lebanon, displayeth shame, is withered,Sharon, hath become, as the waste plain, And Bashan and Carmel are shaking off their leaves.
10 Now, will I arise, Saith Yahweh, Now, will I lift myself up, Now, will I be exalted!
11 Ye shall conceive chaff Ye shall bring forth stubble,Your own breath, like fire, shall devour you.
12 So shall peoples, become, as the burnings of lime,As thorns lopped off, with fire, shall they be burned.
13 Hearye that are far off. what I have done, And knowye that are near my might:
14 Terror-stricken in Zion,are sinners, Shuddering hath seized the impious,Who among us can sojourn with a fire that devoureth? Who among us can sojourn with burnings age-abiding?
15 He that walketh righteously, And speaketh uprightly,He that refuseth the gain of exactions That shaketh his hands free from holding a bribe, That stoppeth his ear from hearkening to deeds of blood, And shutteth his eyes from giving countenance to wrong,
16 He, the heights, shall inhabit, A stronghold of crags, shall be his refuge,His bread, hath been delivered, His waters, have been made sure,
17 Of a king, in his beauty, shall thine eyes have vision: They shall see a land that stretcheth afar.
18 Thy heart, may murmur in terror,Where is the scribe? Wherethe receiver? Wherehe that maketh a list of the towers?
19 The fierce people, shalt thou not see,The people of too deep a lip to be understood, of too barbarous a tongue for thee to comprehend.
20 Look thou on Zion, the city of our appointed feast,Thine own eyes, shall see JerusalemA home of comfort A tent which shall not be packed upWhose pins shall not be pulled out, for ever, And none of, whose cords, shall be broken.
21 But, there shall Yahweh be our majestic one, A places of riversstreams broad on both hands, Wherein shall go no galley with oars, Neither shall majestic ship traverse it;
22 For, Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh, is our lawgiver,Yahweh, is our king, He will save us!
23 Loosed are thy ropes,They cannot strengthen the socket of their mast They have not unfurled a sail Now, can be apportioned spoil, in abundance, The lame, have captured prey!
24 Neither shall the inhabitant say. I am sick,the people who dwell therein, have been forgiven iniquity.
