1 Yahweh, is my light and my salvation, Of whom shall I be afraid? Yahweh, is the refuge of my life, Of whom shall I be in dread?2 When there drew near against me evil-doers to devour my flesh, mine adversaries, and mine enemiesmine!they, stumbled and fell!3 Though there pitch against mea camp, my heart shall not fear,Though there come up against mea battle, still, am I confident.4 One thing, have I asked of Yahweh, That, will I seek to secure,That I may dwell in the house of Yahweh, all the days of my life, To view the delightfulness of Yahweh, And to contemplate in his temple.5 For he will hide me in his pavilion, in the day of calamity,He will conceal me, in the secrecy of his tent, Within a rock, will he set me on high.6 Now, therefore, shall my head be raised high above my foes round about me, and I will sacrifice in his tent the sacrifices of triumphant joy, I will sing and touch the strings, to Yahweh.7 Hear, O Yahweh, With my voice, do I cry, Oh then show me favour and answer me.8 To thee, said my heart Seek ye my faceThy face, O Yahweh, will I seek!9 Do not hide thy face from me, Do not repulse, in thine anger, thine own servant,My help, thou hast been, Do not send me away nor forsake me, O my saving God!10 When, my own father and mother, had forsaken me, Then, Yahweh, took me up!11 Point out to me, O Yahweh, thy way,And guide me in a level path, because of mine adversaries.12 Do not give me up unto the desire of mine adversaries, for there have risen up against me witnesses that are false, and he that fanneth up violence.13 I believe that I shall seeThe goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living,14 Wait thou for Yahweh,Be strong, and let thy heart be bold, Wait, then, for Yahweh!

1 O Senhor é a minha luz e a minha salvação; a quem temerei? O Senhor é a força da minha vida; de quem me recearei? 2 Quando os malvados, meus adversários e meus inimigos, investiram contra mim, para comerem as minhas carnes, tropeçaram e caíram. 3 Ainda que um exército me cercasse, o meu coração não temeria; ainda que a guerra se levantasse contra mim, nele confiaria.

4 Uma coisa pedi ao Senhor e a buscarei: que possa morar na Casa do Senhor todos os dias da minha vida, para contemplar a formosura do Senhor e aprender no seu templo.

5 Porque no dia da adversidade me esconderá no seu pavilhão; no oculto do seu tabernáculo me esconderá; pôr-me-á sobre uma rocha. 6 Também a minha cabeça será exaltada sobre os meus inimigos que estão ao redor de mim; pelo que oferecerei sacrifício de júbilo no seu tabernáculo; cantarei, sim, cantarei louvores ao Senhor.

7 Ouve, Senhor, a minha voz quando clamo; tem também piedade de mim e responde-me. 8 Quando tu disseste: Buscai o meu rosto, o meu coração te disse a ti: O teu rosto, Senhor, buscarei. 9 Não escondas de mim a tua face e não rejeites ao teu servo com ira; tu foste a minha ajuda; não me deixes, nem me desampares, ó Deus da minha salvação. 10 Porque, quando meu pai e minha mãe me desampararem, o Senhor me recolherá.

11 Ensina-me, Senhor, o teu caminho e guia-me pela vereda direita, por causa dos que me andam espiando. 12 Não me entregues à vontade dos meus adversários, pois se levantaram falsas testemunhas contra mim, e os que respiram crueldade.

13 Pereceria sem dúvida, se não cresse que veria os bens do Senhor na terra dos viventes. 14 Espera no Senhor, anima-te, e ele fortalecerá o teu coração; espera, pois, no Senhor.
