1 Ο Κύριος μου είπε: 2 «Κάποτε, άνθρωπε,*άνθρωπε. Βλ. υποσ. εις κεφ. 2:1. υπήρχαν δυο γυναίκες, κόρες της ίδιας μάνας, 3 οι οποίες ήταν πόρνες στην Αίγυπτο από τα νιάτα τους. Εκεί τους χάιδεψαν για πρώτη φορά τα παρθενικά τους στήθη. 4 Η μεγαλύτερη γυναίκα, που ονομαζόταν Οολά, ήταν η Σαμάρεια· και η αδερφή της, η Οολιβά, ήταν η Ιερουσαλήμ. Τις πήρα και τις δυο για γυναίκες μου και μου γέννησαν αγόρια και κορίτσια.

5 »Αλλά η Οολά, μολονότι ήταν γυναίκα μου, έγινε πόρνη κι αγάπησε με πάθος τους εραστές της τους Ασσυρίους, που ήταν γείτονές της. 6 Αυτοί ήταν κυβερνήτες και άρχοντες, ντυμένοι με πορφύρα, όλοι τους νέοι μεγαλόπρεποι, επιδέξιοι καβαλάρηδες. 7 Πορνεύτηκε μ’ αυτούς που ήταν οι πιο εκλεκτοί άντρες της Ασσυρίας· τους αγάπησε όλους με πάθος και μολύνθηκε με τη λατρεία των ειδώλων τους. 8 Δε σταμάτησε να πορνεύεται όπως και στην Αίγυπτο, όταν από τα νιάτα της πλάγιαζε με άντρες που της θώπευαν τα παρθενικά της στήθη και ασελγούσαν πάνω της. 9 Γι’ αυτό την παρέδωσα στην εξουσία των εραστών της, των Ασσυρίων, που με τόσο πάθος τούς είχε αγαπήσει. 10 Αυτοί άρπαξαν τ’ αγόρια της και τα κορίτσια της, κι αυτήν την ίδια την ξεγύμνωσαν και τη θανάτωσαν με ξίφος. Της επέβαλαν έτσι ποινή παραδειγματική για όλες τις γυναίκες.

11 »Η αδερφή της, η Οολιβά, αν και τα είδε όλα αυτά, έπεσε στη διαφθορά πιο πολύ από κείνην και επιδόθηκε με παράφορο πάθος στις πορνικές της πράξεις. 12 Αγάπησε κι αυτή με πάθος τους Ασσυρίους κυβερνήτες, αρχηγούς και πολεμιστές, που ήταν όλοι τους ντυμένοι με πορφύρα, ωραίοι νέοι κι επιδέξιοι καβαλάρηδες. 13 Έτσι βυθίστηκε στην ανηθικότητα. Κι εγώ διαπίστωσα ότι ακολούθησαν κι οι δυο αδερφές τον ίδιο δρόμο. 14,15 Ετούτη εδώ όμως, η Οολιβά, προχώρησε ακόμα περισσότερο στις πορνείες της: Μια μέρα είδε κάτι παραστάσεις Βαβυλωνίων αντρών ζωγραφισμένες στον τοίχο με κόκκινο χρώμα. Φορούσαν στη μέση τους ζώνες και στο κεφάλι τους κορδέλες, όπως ντύνονταν στην πατρίδα τους. Όλοι τους έμοιαζαν με άρχοντες. 16 Αυτή όταν τους είδε, τους αγάπησε με πάθος κι έστειλε αγγελιοφόρους*έστειλε αγγελιοφόρους. Πιθανός υπαινιγμός για τις διπλωματικές σχέσεις του Εζεκία με τον Μερωδάχ-Βαλαδάν. στη Βαβυλώνα για να τους βρουν. 17 Ήρθαν, λοιπόν, σ’ αυτήν οι Βαβυλώνιοι, στο ερωτικό της κρεβάτι, και τη μόλυναν με την ασέλγειά τους, μέχρις ότου και η ίδια τούς σιχάθηκε. 18 Όσο συνέχιζε τις πορνείες της, τόσο πιο πολύ φανερωνόταν η γύμνια της.

»Έτσι σιχάθηκα την Οολιβά, όπως είχα σιχαθεί και την αδερφή της. 19 Ετούτη όμως εκπορνεύτηκε σε πολύ μεγαλύτερο βαθμό, και συμπεριφέρθηκε όπως στον καιρό της νιότης της, τότε που ήταν πόρνη στην Αίγυπτο. 20 Τότε που είχε αγαπήσει με πάθος τους εραστές της, που το γεννητικό τους μόριο ήταν σαν των όνων και ο οργασμός τους σαν των αλόγων. 21 Τώρα ξανάρχισε την ανηθικότητα της νιότης της, όπως τότε που οι Αιγύπτιοι έπαιζαν με τα νεανικά της στήθη».

22 «Γι’ αυτό, Οολιβά, εγώ ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, λέω: Θα ξεσηκώσω από παντού τους εραστές σου, που τους αποστράφηκες, και θα τους φέρω εναντίον σου: 23 Τους Βαβυλώνιους και τους άλλους Χαλδαίους, δηλαδή τους άντρες από την Πεκώδ, τη Σωά και την Κοά, και μαζί τους τους Ασσυρίους, που όλοι τους είναι κυβερνήτες και αρχηγοί, αξιωματούχοι και σύμβουλοι, ωραίοι νέοι, καβαλάρηδες ξακουστοί. 24 Θα ’ρθουν εναντίον σου με πλήθος άμαξες και τροχοφόρα και με αναρίθμητο στρατό. Προστατευμένοι από τους θυρεούς τους, τις ασπίδες και τις περικεφαλαίες τους, θα σε περικυκλώσουν από παντού και θα τους αναθέσω να σε τιμωρήσουν κατά την κρίση τους. 25 Θα εξαπολύσω την αγανάκτησή μου εναντίον σου και θα τους αφήσω να σου φερθούν με μανία. Θα σου κόψουν τη μύτη και τ’ αυτιά και θα σε αποτελειώσουν με τα ξίφη τους. Θα πάρουν τ’ αγόρια σου και τα κορίτσια σου και όσοι επιζήσουν από σένα θα τους εξαφανίσει η φωτιά. 26 Θα σου βγάλουν τα ρούχα και θα σου αρπάξουν τα πολύτιμα κοσμήματά σου. 27 Έτσι θα βάλω τέρμα στην ανηθικότητά σου και στην πορνεία σου που διαπράττεις από τότε που ήσουν ακόμα στην Αίγυπτο. Δε θα ξανασηκώσεις πια τα μάτια σου σ’ αυτούς και την Αίγυπτο θα την ξεχάσεις.

28 »Εγώ ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, λέω: Θα σε παραδώσω στην εξουσία εκείνων που τώρα μισείς και αποστρέφεσαι. 29 Αυτοί θα σου φερθούν με μίσος· θ’ αρπάξουν όλους τους καρπούς του μόχθου σου και θα σ’ αφήσουν εντελώς γυμνή. 30 Κι όλα αυτά θα σου τα κάνω επειδή πορνεύτηκες με τα έθνη και μολύνθηκες με τη λατρεία των ειδώλων τους.

31 »Ακολούθησες το δρόμο της αδερφής σου, γι’ αυτό κι εγώ θα σου δώσω να πιεις το ίδιο μ’ αυτήν ποτήρι. 32 Εγώ ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, λέω: Θα πιεις το ίδιο ποτήρι με την αδερφή σου, ένα ποτήρι βαθύ και πλατύ· θα ντροπιαστείς, θα γίνεις καταγέλαστη, γιατί το ποτήρι θα είναι ξέχειλα γεμάτο. 33 Θα γεμίσεις πόνο και λύπη, γιατί ποτήρι τρόμου και φρίκης είναι το ποτήρι της αδερφής σου, της Σαμάρειας. 34 Θα το πιεις και θα το στραγγίξεις· θα ρουφήξεις τα σπασμένα κομμάτια του κι αυτά θα σου ξεσκίσουν τα στήθη, γιατί εγώ ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, μίλησα. 35 Επειδή με ξέχασες και με αρνήθηκες, πρέπει να υποστείς τις συνέπειες για την ανηθικότητά σου και τις πορνείες σου».

36 Μου είπε ακόμα ο Κύριος: «Εσύ άνθρωπε, ετοιμάσου να κρίνεις την Οολά και την Οολιβά και να τις επιπλήξεις για τις βδελυρές πράξεις τους. 37 Διέπραξαν μοιχεία και φόνο· διέπραξαν ανήθικες πράξεις με τη λατρεία των ειδώλων τους, προσφέροντάς τους για τροφή τα παιδιά που γέννησαν για μένα. 38 Κι ετούτο ακόμα μου έκαναν: 39 Αφού θυσίασαν τα παιδιά τους στα είδωλά τους, την ίδια μέρα πήγαν στο αγιαστήριό μου και το μόλυναν κι αυτό· κι ακόμα βεβήλωσαν το Σάββατο που είναι αφιερωμένο σ’ εμένα.

40 »Πες τους ακόμα: "στείλατε και αγγελιοφόρους και καλέσατε άντρες από χώρα μακρινή και ήρθαν σ’ εσάς· για χάρη τους λουστήκατε, βάψατε τα μάτια σας και στολιστήκατε. 41 Καθίσατε σε κρεβάτια μεγαλοπρεπή με στρωμένα τραπέζια μπροστά σας, και πάνω τους βάλατε το θυμίαμά μου και το αρωματικό λάδι μου". 42 Στο σπίτι τους ακούγονταν χαρούμενες φωνές ξέγνοιαστου πλήθους, που είχαν έρθει από την έρημο. Περνούσαν βραχιόλια στα χέρια των δύο γυναικών και τους φορούσαν ωραία στέμματα στο κεφάλι τους. 43 Τότε σκέφτηκα: Αυτές που γέρασαν στην πορνεία, δεν είναι δυνατόν παρά να διαπράξουν και τώρα πορνεία! 44 Πράγματι, ήρθαν οι άντρες στην Οολά και στην Οολιβά, στις διεφθαρμένες αυτές γυναίκες, και τις μεταχειρίστηκαν σαν πόρνες.

45 »Αλλά οι δίκαιοι άντρες θα τις καταδικάσουν για μοιχεία και φόνο, γιατί είχαν μοιχεύσει και σκοτώσει. 46 Εγώ ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, λέω: Πλήθος ανθρώπων θα έρθει εναντίον τους και θα τις κακομεταχειριστούν, θα τις ληστέψουν. 47 Ο όχλος θα τις λιθοβολήσει και θα τις κατασφάξει· θα σφάξουν τ’ αγόρια και τα κορίτσια τους και θα κάψουν τα σπίτια τους.

48 »Έτσι θα σταματήσω την ανηθικότητα από τη χώρα· και όλες οι γυναίκες θα μάθουν να μην μιμούνται τις ακολασίες αυτών των δύο αδερφών. 49 Θα τις τιμωρήσω για την ανηθικότητά τους και για τις αμαρτίες που κάνανε λατρεύοντας τα είδωλα. Έτσι θα μάθουν ότι εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος, ο Θεός».

22 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side; 23 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses. 24 And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. 25 And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26 They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.*23.26 fair…: Heb. instruments of thy decking 27 Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated: 29 And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. 30 I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols. 31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. 34 Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. 35 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

36 The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;*23.36 judge: or, plead for 37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them. 38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. 39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house. 40 And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,*23.40 to come: Heb. coming 41 And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.*23.41 stately: Heb. honourable 42 And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.*23.42 of the…: Heb. of the multitude of men*23.42 Sabeans: or, drunkards 43 Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?*23.43 whoredoms…: Heb. her whoredoms 44 Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.
