1 Ο Κύριος μου είπε: 2 «Άνθρωπε, προφήτεψε εναντίον των ποιμένων του Ισραήλ και πες τους:*Άνθρωπε. Βλ. υποσ. εις κεφ. 2:1. ποιμένες (του λαού). Τιμητικός τίτλος των βασιλέων στην αρχαία Ανατολή. Ο ίδιος τίτλος μπορούσε να αποδοθεί και σε εξίσου σπουδαίους άρχοντες του λαού (βλ. Ησ 56:11· Ζαχ 11:4-17). "ακούστε τι λέει ο Κύριος ο Θεός: Αλίμονο σ’ εσάς ποιμένες των Ισραηλιτών, που τρέφετε τον εαυτό σας! Δε θα έπρεπε οι ποιμένες να τρέφουν τα ποίμνια; 3 Εσείς όμως τρέφεστε με το γάλα, ντύνεστε με το μαλλί, θυσιάζετε τα παχιά πρόβατα αλλά δε βόσκετε το ποίμνιο. 4 Το αδύνατο πρόβατο δεν το δυναμώνετε και το άρρωστο δεν το γιατρεύετε· δε βάλατε επίδεσμο στο πληγωμένο ούτε φέρατε πίσω το παραστρατημένο· ούτε το χαμένο ζητήσατε να βρείτε. Αλλά φερθήκατε σ’ αυτά με βία και σκληρότητα. 5 Έτσι διασκορπίστηκε το κοπάδι μου γιατί δεν είχε βοσκούς, κι έγινε τροφή για τα θηρία του αγρού. 6 Περιπλανήθηκε το κοπάδι μου πάνω στα βουνά και στους ψηλούς λόφους·*πάνω... λόφους. Υπονοείται προφανώς η ειδωλολατρική πρακτική την οποία πολλές φορές ακολουθούσαν οι Ισραηλίτες (βλ. υποσ. εις κεφ. 6:2· 20:28). μετά τα πρόβατά μου σκορπίστηκαν σ’ όλη τη γη, χωρίς κανείς να ενδιαφερθεί ή να ψάξει γι’ αυτά.

7 "Γι’ αυτό, ποιμένες, ακούστε τι λέει ο ίδιος ο Κύριος: 8 Εγώ, ο αληθινός Θεός, το επιβεβαιώνω: Το κοπάδι μου έγινε λάφυρο και τα πρόβατά μου έγιναν τροφή των άγριων θηρίων. Δεν υπήρχε βοσκός και οι βοσκοί δεν αναζήτησαν το κοπάδι μου, αλλά έτρεφαν τον εαυτό τους αντί να βόσκουν το κοπάδι! Γι’ αυτό, ακούστε ποιμένες: 9,10 Εγώ, ο Κύριος ο Θεός, είμαι εναντίον σας, ποιμένες! Θα ζητήσω από σας ευθύνες για το κοπάδι μου και θα σας πάψω από τη θέση να είστε ποιμένες των προβάτων μου, οι οποίοι φροντίζουν μόνο για τον εαυτό τους. Θα ελευθερώσω το κοπάδι μου από το στόμα σας και δε θα είναι πια τροφή για σας"».

11 Ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, λέει: «Τώρα, εγώ ο ίδιος θα ψάξω για το κοπάδι μου και θα φροντίσω γι’ αυτό. 12 Θ’ αναζητήσω τα πρόβατά μου, όπως ο βοσκός προσπαθεί να ξαναμαζέψει το σκορπισμένο κοπάδι του. Θα τα ξαναμαζέψω από παντού όπου διασκορπίστηκαν τη μέρα της συννεφιάς και του σκότους.*μέρα... σκότους. Εννοείται η ημέρα της κρίσεως του Κυρίου, δηλ. της καταστροφής της Ιερουσαλήμ και της αιχμαλωσίας.13 Θα τα βγάλω ανάμεσα από τα έθνη, θα τα συγκεντρώσω από τις ξένες χώρες και θα τα φέρω στη χώρα τους. Θα τα βοσκήσω στα βουνά του Ισραήλ, στις κοιλάδες και σ’ όλα τα κατοικήσιμα μέρη της χώρας. 14 Σε καλούς βοσκότοπους θα τα βοσκήσω, στα ψηλά βουνά του Ισραήλ θα είναι το μαντρί τους· εκεί θα κοιμούνται με ασφάλεια και θα βόσκουν στα πλούσια βοσκοτόπια, ναι, πάνω στα βουνά της χώρας. 15 Εγώ θα είμαι ποιμένας στα πρόβατά μου κι αυτός που θα τους βρίσκει τόπο να ξεκουράζονται. Εγώ ο Κύριος, ο Θεός, το λέω. 16 Θ’ αναζητήσω το χαμένο πρόβατο και θα φέρω πίσω το παραστρατημένο· στο πληγωμένο θα βάλω επιδέσμους και το αδύναμο θα το δυναμώσω. Θα περιορίσω*Θα περιορίσω, σύμφωνα με αρχαίες μετ. Το εβρ. έχει «Θα καταστρέψω». όμως τα δυνατά ή τα πολύ παχιά πρόβατα και θα τα βόσκω όλα με δικαιοσύνη.

17 »Όσο για σας, το ποίμνιό μου, εγώ ο Κύριος ο Θεός, ετούτο έχω να σας πω: Θα κάνω διάκριση ανάμεσα στα πρόβατα, στα κριάρια και στα τραγιά. 18 Δε φτάνει σ’ εσάς, κριάρια και τραγιά, που βόσκετε σε καλά βοσκοτόπια; είναι ανάγκη να πατάτε το υπόλοιπο της βοσκής σας με τα πόδια σας; Δε σας φτάνει που πίνετε από καθαρό νερό; πρέπει να θολώνετε με τα πόδια σας το υπόλοιπο; 19 Γιατί; Είναι υποχρεωμένο το κοπάδι μου να τρώει ό,τι εσείς έχετε πατήσει και να πίνει ό,τι εσείς έχετε θολώσει με τα πόδια σας; 20 Γι’ αυτό, εγώ ο Κύριος ο Θεός, δηλώνω πως θα προστατέψω τα αδύναμα πρόβατα από σας τα δυνατά. 21 Επειδή εσείς με τα οπίσθιά σας και με τον ώμο σας σπρώχνετε και με τα κέρατά σας χτυπάτε τα αδύνατα πρόβατα και τα εκτοπίζετε, 22 γι’ αυτό εγώ θα προστατέψω το κοπάδι μου και δεν θα είναι πια λάφυρο. Θ’ αποδώσω σε κάθε πρόβατο το δίκιο του».

23 Λέει ο Κύριος: «Θα βάλω στα πρόβατά μου μόνο έναν ποιμένα να τα βόσκει, όπως ο δούλος μου ο Δαβίδ. Αυτός θα τα τρέφει κι αυτός θα είναι ποιμένας τους. 24 Εγώ, ο Κύριος, θα είμαι Θεός τους κι αυτός θα είναι αρχηγός τους, όπως ήταν ο δούλος μου ο Δαβίδ. Εγώ ο Κύριος, το λέω.

25 »Θα κάνω διαθήκη ειρήνης με το κοπάδι μου και θα εξαφανίσω τα άγρια θηρία από τη χώρα, ώστε τα πρόβατά μου να κατοικούν με ασφάλεια στην έρημο και να κοιμούνται στα δάση. 26 Θα ευλογήσω αυτούς και τους τόπους που είναι γύρω από το όρος μου· θα ρίχνω τη βροχή στον καιρό της και θα είναι βροχή ευλογίας. 27 Τα δέντρα έξω στους αγρούς θα κάνουν τους καρπούς τους και η γη θα δίνει τα προϊόντα της. Τα πρόβατά μου θα ζουν με ασφάλεια στη χώρα τους και θα μάθουν ότι εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος, όταν θα σπάσω τα δεσμά της δουλείας τους και όταν θα τους λυτρώσω από την εξουσία αυτών που τους υποδούλωσαν. 28 Δε θα είναι πια λάφυρο για τα έθνη ούτε θα τους κατασπαράζουν τα άγρια θηρία. Θα ζουν ασφαλείς χωρίς το φόβο κανενός. 29 Θα τους εξασφαλίζω εύφορες εκτάσεις και δε θα υποφέρουν πια από πείνα στη χώρα τους, ούτε θα εμπαίζονται από τα άλλα έθνη. 30 Τότε όλος ο κόσμος θα μάθει ότι εγώ, ο Κύριος ο Θεός τους, είμαι μαζί τους κι ότι οι Ισραηλίτες είναι ο λαός μου. Εγώ, ο Κύριος ο Θεός, το λέω». 31 «Εσείς είστε το κοπάδι μου, που το φροντίζω, κι εγώ ο Κύριος είμαι ο Θεός σας», λέει ο Κύριος ο Θεός.

1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3 Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. 4 The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. 5 And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.*34.5 because…: or, without a shepherd 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.

7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; 8 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;*34.8 because…: or, without a shepherd 9 Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

11 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.*34.12 As…: Heb. According to the seeking 13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. 15 I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD. 16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

17 And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.*34.17 cattle: Heb. small cattle of lambs and kids*34.17 he goats: Heb. great he goats 18 Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet? 19 And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.

20 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle. 21 Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad; 22 Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. 23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. 24 And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it. 25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. 26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. 27 And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. 28 And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid. 29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.*34.29 of renown: or, for renown*34.29 consumed: Heb. taken away 30 Thus shall they know that I the LORD their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord GOD. 31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord GOD.
