1 Εκείνος που αγαπάει να τον διορθώνουνε, τη γνώση αγαπάει· εκείνος όμως που τον έλεγχο μισεί, είν’ ανόητος.

2 Ο καλός έχει του Κυρίου την εύνοια· τον δολοπλόκο ο Κύριος θα τον καταδικάσει.

3 Δε θα στεριώσει με την ανομία ο άνθρωπος, μα οι δίκαιοι θα μείνουν ακλόνητοι σαν δέντρο με βαθειές ρίζες.

4 Η ενάρετη γυναίκα είναι στεφάνι για τον άντρα της, μα η γυναίκα η αισχρή είναι στα κόκαλά του αρρώστια.

5 Οι σκέψεις των δικαίων είναι ειλικρινείς, ενώ των ασεβών τα σχέδια δολερά.

6 Των ασεβών τα λόγια είναι ενέδρες φονικές, αλλά τα λόγια των δικαίων σώζουν τους άλλους απ’ το θάνατο.

7 Πέφτουν οι ασεβείς κι εξαφανίζονται, μα των δικαίων το σπιτικό μένει για πάντα.

8 Τον άνθρωπο τον επαινούν αν είναι συνετός· κι εκείνον που έχει διεστραμμένο νου θα τον περιφρονούνε.

9 Καλύτερα να ζεις απλά και να ’χεις ένα μόνο δούλο, παρά να κάνεις τον σπουδαίο και να σου λείπει το ψωμί.

10 Ο δίκαιος φροντίζει και για τα ζωντανά του ακόμα, μα οι ασεβείς είν’ άσπλαχνοι.

11 Όποιος εργάζεται τη γη του, χορταίνει το ψωμί· μα όποιος πράγματα γυρεύει μάταια, είν’ ανόητος.

12 Ο ασεβής ζηλεύει των κακών τα κέρδη· ο δίκαιος όμως έχει όλες τις προϋποθέσεις για να πετύχει.

13 Με τα αμαρτωλά τα λόγια παγιδεύεται ο κακός, αλλά ο δίκαιος γλιτώνει από τη θλίψη.

14 Με τα καλά τα λόγια που λέει ο άνθρωπος, χορταίνει αγαθά· καθένας αμείβεται ανάλογα με τα έργα του.

15 Στα μάτια του ανόητου είναι πάντα σωστός ο δρόμος του, ενώ ο σοφός ακούει τις συμβουλές.

16 Την οργή του ο ανόητος τη φανερώνει αμέσως· ο συνετός, αντίθετα, αψηφάει την προσβολή.

17 Αυτός που την αλήθεια λέει, το δίκαιο διακηρύσσει· ο ψευδομάρτυρας την αδικία υπηρετεί.

18 Του φλύαρου τα λόγια πληγώνουν σαν το δίκοπο σπαθί και των σοφών τα λόγια θεραπεύουν.

19 Η αλήθεια μένει ζωντανή για πάντα, ενώ το ψέμα διαρκεί μονάχα μια στιγμή.

20 Εξαπατούν τον εαυτό τους εκείνοι που μηχανεύονται κακό για τους άλλους· μα εκείνοι που για την ειρήνη νοιάζονται, έχουν χαρά.

21 Κακό κανένα δεν θα βρει τον δίκαιο, αλλά τους ασεβείς συμφορές θα τους σκεπάσουν.

22 Ο Κύριος απεχθάνεται τους ψεύτες, μα του είν’ ευχάριστοι αυτοί που ζουν με την αλήθεια.

23 Ο άνθρωπος ο συνετός τη γνώση του δεν την προβάλλει, ενώ διαφημίζουν την ανοησία τους οι ανόητοι.

24 Όσοι δουλεύουνε σκληρά, θα εξουσιάζουν· ενώ οι τεμπέληδες θα είναι υποτελείς.

25 Η έγνοια μέσα στην καρδιά τον άνθρωπο τον καταβάλλει, ενώ ένας λόγος όμορφος του δίνει τη χαρά.

26 Ο δίκαιος δρόμος έχει καλό τέλος, ενώ ο δρόμος των ασεβών είναι παραπλανητικός.

27 Ο τεμπέλης κυνηγός δεν πιάνει τίποτε, ενώ ο εργατικός άνθρωπος είναι θησαυρός για τους γύρω του.

28 Στο δρόμο της δικαιοσύνης είν’ η ζωή, ενώ των ασεβών ο δρόμος οδηγεί στο θάνατο.*ενώ... θάνατο. Το εβρ. είναι ασαφές.
