1 Conhecido é Deus em Judá;

grande, o seu nome em Israel.

2 Em Salém, está o seu tabernáculo,

e, em Sião, a sua morada.

3 Ali, despedaçou ele os relâmpagos do arco,

o escudo, a espada e a batalha.

4 Tu és ilustre e mais glorioso

do que os montes eternos.

5 Despojados foram os de ânimo forte;

jazem a dormir o seu sono,

e nenhum dos valentes

pode valer-se das próprias mãos.

6 Ante a tua repreensão, ó Deus de Jacó,

paralisaram carros e cavalos.

7 Tu, sim, tu és terrível;

se te iras,

quem pode subsistir à tua vista?

8 Desde os céus fizeste ouvir o teu juízo;

tremeu a terra e se aquietou,

9 ao levantar-se Deus para julgar

e salvar todos os humildes da terra.

10 Pois até a ira humana há de louvar-te;

e do resíduo das iras te cinges.

11 Fazei votos e pagai-os ao Senhor, vosso Deus;

tragam presentes todos os que o rodeiam,

àquele que deve ser temido.

12 Ele quebranta o orgulho dos príncipes;

é tremendo aos reis da terra.

1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

3 There broke he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

4 You are more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

7 You, even you, are to be feared: and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry?

8 You did cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise you: the remainder of wrath shall you restrain.

11 Vow, and pay to the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents to him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
