1 And the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 2 Thus saith Jehovah the doer of it, Jehovah that formeth it to establish it, Jehovah is his name: 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and I will shew thee great and hidden things, which thou knowest not. 4 For thus saith Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down because of the mounds and because of the sword: 5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but to fill them with the dead bodies of the men whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city. 6 Behold, I will apply a healing dressing to it and cure, and I will heal them, and will reveal unto them an abundance of peace and truth. 7 And I will turn the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel, and will build them, as at the beginning. 8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me, and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned against me, and whereby they have transgressed against me. 9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear of all the good that I do unto them; and they shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

10 Thus saith Jehovah: In this place of which ye say, It is waste, without man and without beast! in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, 11 there shall again be heard the voice of mirth and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that say, Give ye thanks unto Jehovah of hosts; for Jehovah is good, for his loving-kindness endureth for ever, — of them that bring thanksgiving unto the house of Jehovah. For I will turn the captivity of the land as in the beginning, saith Jehovah. 12 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: In this place which is waste, without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, there shall again be a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. 13 In the cities of the hill-country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the environs of Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that counteth them, saith Jehovah. 14 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will perform the good word which I have spoken unto the house of Israel and unto the house of Judah. 15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. 16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell in safety. And this is the name wherewith she shall be called: Jehovah our Righteousness.

17 For thus saith Jehovah: There shall never fail to David a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; 18 neither shall there fail to the priests the Levites a man before me to offer up burnt-offerings, and to burn oblations, and to do sacrifice continually. 19 And the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah, saying, 20 Thus saith Jehovah: If ye can break my covenant in respect of the day, and my covenant in respect of the night, so that there should not be day and night in their season, 21 then shall also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites, the priests, my ministers. 22 As the host of the heavens cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me. 23 And the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah, saying, 24 Hast thou not seen what this people have spoken, saying, The two families that Jehovah had chosen, he hath even cast them off? And they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. 25 Thus saith Jehovah: If my covenant of day and night stand not, if I have not appointed the ordinances of the heavens and the earth, 26 then will I also cast away the seed of Jacob, and of David my servant, so as not to take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will turn their captivity, and will have mercy on them.

Cap. 29:12., și-ți voi răspunde și îți voi vesti lucruri mari, lucruri ascunse, pe care nu le cunoști.’ 4 Căci așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel despre casele cetății acesteia și despre casele împăraților lui Iuda, care vor fi surpate ca să facă loc pentru șanțurile de întărire*Cap. 32:24. și pentru săbii, 5 când vor înainta să lupte*Cap. 32:5. împotriva haldeenilor și când se vor umple cu trupurile moarte ale oamenilor pe care-i voi lovi în mânia Mea și în urgia Mea și din pricina răutății cărora Îmi voi ascunde Fața de această cetate: 6 ‘Iată, îi voi da vindecare*Cap. 30:17. și sănătate, îi voi vindeca și le voi deschide un izvor bogat în pace și credincioșie. 7 Voi aduce*Cap. 30:3;32:44. Vers. 11. înapoi pe prinșii de război ai lui Iuda și pe prinșii de război ai lui Israel și-i voi așeza iarăși ca odinioară*Is. 1:26. Cap. 24:6;30:20; 31:4,28;42:10.. 8 Îi voi curăți*Ezec. 36:25.Zah. 13:1.Evr. 9:13,14. de toate nelegiuirile pe care le-au săvârșit împotriva Mea, le voi ierta*Cap. 31:34.Mica 7:18. toate nelegiuirile prin care M-au supărat și prin care s-au răzvrătit împotriva Mea. 9 Cetatea aceasta*Is. 62:7. Cap. 13:11. va fi pentru Mine o pricină de laudă și de slavă printre toate neamurile pământului. Ele vor afla tot binele pe care li-l voi face, vor rămâne mirate*Is. 60:5. și uimite de toată fericirea și de toată propășirea pe care le-o voi da.’ 10 Așa vorbește Domnul: ‘Se vor mai auzi iarăși în locul acesta, despre*Cap. 32:43. care ziceți că este pustiu, că nu mai are oameni, nici dobitoace, se vor mai auzi iarăși în cetățile lui Iuda și pe ulițele Ierusalimului, pustiite, lipsite de oameni, de locuitori, de dobitoace, 11 strigătele*Cap. 7:34;16:9;25:10.Apoc. 18:23. de bucurie și strigătele de veselie, cântecele mirelui și cântecele miresei, glasul celor ce zic: «Lăudați*1 Cron. 16:8,34.2 Cron. 5:13;7:3.Ezra 3:11.Ps. 136:1.Is. 12:4. pe Domnul oștirilor, căci Domnul este bun, căci în veac ține îndurarea Lui!», glasul celor ce aduc jertfe*Lev. 7:12.Ps. 107:22;116:17. de mulțumire în Casa Domnului. Căci voi aduce înapoi*Vers. 7. pe prinșii de război ai țării și îi voi așeza iarăși ca odinioară’, zice Domnul. 12 Așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor: ‘În locul*Is. 65:10. Cap. 31:24; 50:19. acesta pustiu, fără oameni și fără dobitoace, și în toate cetățile lui, vor mai fi iarăși locuințe de păstori, care-și vor odihni turmele. În cetățile de la munte*Cap. 17:26;32:44., 13 în cetățile din câmpie, în cetățile de la miazăzi, în țara lui Beniamin și în împrejurimile Ierusalimului, și în cetățile lui Iuda, vor mai trece iarăși*Lev. 27:32. oile pe sub mâna celui ce le numără’, zice Domnul. 14 ‘Iată*Cap. 23:5;31:27,31., vin zile’, zice Domnul, ‘când voi împlini*Cap. 29:10. cuvântul cel bun pe care l-am spus despre casa lui Israel și despre casa lui Iuda. 15 În zilele acelea și în vremurile acelea voi face să răsară lui David o Odraslă*Is. 4:2;11:1. Cap. 23:5. neprihănită, care va înfăptui dreptatea și judecata în țară. 16 În zilele*Cap. 23:6. acelea, Iuda va fi mântuit și Ierusalimul va locui în liniște. Și iată cum Îl vor numi: «Domnul, Neprihănirea*33:16 Sau: Starea noastră după voia lui Dumnezeu. noastră».’ 17 Căci așa vorbește Domnul: ‘David nu va*2 Sam. 7:16.1 Împ. 2:4.Ps. 89:29,36.Luca 1:32,33. fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaș care să stea pe scaunul de domnie al casei lui Israel. 18 Nici preoții și leviții nu vor fi lipsiți niciodată înaintea Mea de urmași care să aducă arderi-de-tot*Rom. 12:1;15:16.1 Pet. 2:5,9.Apoc. 1:6., să ardă tămâie împreună cu darurile de mâncare și să aducă jertfe în toate zilele.’" 19 Cuvântul Domnului a vorbit lui Ieremia astfel: 20 „Așa vorbește Domnul: ‘Dacă puteți*Ps. 89:37.Is. 54:9. Cap. 31:36. Vers. 25. să rupeți legământul Meu cu ziua și legământul Meu cu noaptea, așa încât ziua și noaptea să nu mai fie la vremea lor, 21 atunci se va putea rupe și legământul*Ps. 89:34. Meu cu robul Meu David, așa încât să nu mai aibă fii care să domnească pe scaunul lui de domnie, și legământul Meu cu leviții, preoții, care Îmi fac slujba. 22 Ca*Gen. 13:16;15:5;22:17. Cap. 31:37. oștirea cerurilor, care nu se poate număra, și ca nisipul mării, care nu se poate măsura, așa voi înmulți sămânța robului Meu David și pe leviții care-Mi slujesc.’" 23 Cuvântul Domnului a vorbit lui Ieremia astfel: 24 „N-ai băgat de seamă ce zic oamenii aceștia: ‘A lepădat Domnul cele*Vers. 21,22. două familii pe care le alesese’? Atât de mult disprețuiesc ei pe poporul Meu că nu-l mai privesc ca un popor. 25 Așa vorbește Domnul: ‘Dacă n-am făcut legământul*Vers. 20.Gen. 8:22. Meu cu ziua și cu noaptea, dacă n-am așezat*Ps. 74:16,17.Ps. 104:19. Cap. 31:35,36. legile cerurilor și ale pământului, 26 atunci*Cap. 31:37. voi lepăda și sămânța lui Iacov și a robului Meu David și nu voi mai lua din sămânța lui pe cei ce vor stăpâni peste urmașii lui Avraam, lui Isaac și lui Iacov, căci voi aduce înapoi*Vers. 7,11.Ezra 2:1. pe prinșii lor de război și voi avea milă de ei!’"
