1 And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, 2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, and thou shalt not have sons nor daughters in this place. 3 For thus saith Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bear them, and concerning their fathers that beget them in this land: 4 They shall die of painful deaths; they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung upon the face of the ground, and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carcases shall be food for the fowl of the heavens and for the beasts of the earth. 5 For thus saith Jehovah: Enter not into the house of wailing, neither go to lament or bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith Jehovah, the loving-kindness and the tender mercies. 6 Both great and small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried; and none shall lament for them, or cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them. 7 Nor shall they break bread for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall they give them the cup of consolations to drink for their father or for their mother. 8 And thou shalt not go into the house of feasting, to sit with them, to eat and to drink. 9 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

10 And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt declare unto this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? and what is our iniquity? and what is our sin which we have committed against Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim11 then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; 12 and you, ye have done still worse than your fathers; and there ye are walking every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, not to hearken unto me: 13 and I will cast you forth out of this land, into a land that ye know not, ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night: because I will shew you no favour.

14 Therefore, behold, days are coming, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be said, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 15 but, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them. For I will bring them again into their land, which I gave unto their fathers. 16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish them; and afterwards will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them, from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. 17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways; they are not concealed from my face, neither is their iniquity hidden from before mine eyes. 18 But first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have profaned my land with the carcases of their detestable things, and with their abominations have they filled mine inheritance. 19 Jehovah, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of distress, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and they shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited falsehood and vanity; and in these things there is no profit. 20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no-gods? 21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Jehovah.

1 Cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 2 „Să nu-ți iei nevastă și să n-ai în locul acesta nici fii, nici fiice!" 3 Căci așa vorbește Domnul despre fiii și fiicele care se vor naște în locul acesta, despre mamele care-i vor naște și despre tații lor care le vor da naștere în țara aceasta: 4 „Vor muri doborâți de boală*Cap. 15:2. rea. Nimeni nu-i va plânge*Cap. 22:18,19;25:33., nici nu-i va îngropa, ci vor fi ca un gunoi*Ps. 83:10. Cap. 8:2; 9:22. pe pământ; vor pieri de sabie și de foamete, și trupurile*Ps. 79:2. Cap. 7:33;34:20. lor moarte vor sluji ca hrană păsărilor cerului și fiarelor pământului." 5 Căci așa vorbește Domnul: „Să nu intri în nicio casă*Ezec. 24:17,22,23. de jale, să nu plângi în ea și nici să nu te bocești cu ei, căci Mi-am luat înapoi de la poporul acesta pacea Mea", zice Domnul, „bunătatea și îndurarea Mea. 6 Și mari, și mici, toți vor muri în țara aceasta și nu vor fi îngropați: nimeni nu-i va plânge*Cap. 22:18., nimeni nu-și va face tăieturi*Lev. 19:28.Deut. 14:1. Cap. 41:5; 47:5. din pricina lor și nu se va*Is. 22:12. Cap. 7:29. rade pentru ei. 7 Nimeni nu le va pune masa în timpul jelirii ca să-i mângâie pentru cel mort și nimeni nu le va întinde paharul*Prov. 31:6,7. mângâierii pentru tatăl sau pentru mama lor. 8 Să nu intri nici într-o casă de petrecere, ca să te așezi cu ei, să mănânci și să bei." 9 Căci așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: „Iată, voi face să înceteze*Is. 24:7,8. Cap. 7:34;25:10.Ezec. 26:13.Osea 2:11.Apoc. 18:23. în locul acesta, sub ochii voștri și în zilele voastre, strigătele de bucurie și strigătele de veselie, cântecele mirelui și cântecele miresei. 10 Când vei vesti poporului acestuia toate aceste lucruri, ei îți vor zice: ‘Pentru ce*Deut. 29:24. Cap. 5:19; 13:22;22:8. ne amenință Domnul cu toate aceste mari nenorociri? Ce nelegiuire și ce păcat am făcut împotriva Domnului Dumnezeului nostru?’ 11 Atunci să le răspunzi: ‘Părinții voștri*Deut. 29:25. Cap. 22:9. M-au părăsit’, zice Domnul, ‘s-au dus după alți dumnezei, le-au slujit și s-au închinat înaintea lor, iar pe Mine M-au părăsit și n-au păzit Legea Mea! 12 Și voi ați făcut și mai rău*Cap. 7:26. decât părinții voștri, căci iată că fiecare*Cap. 13:10. umblați după pornirile inimii voastre rele și nu M-ascultați. 13 De aceea*Deut. 4:26-28;28:36,63-65., vă voi muta din țara aceasta într-o țară*Cap. 15:14. pe care n-ați cunoscut-o nici voi, nici părinții voștri și acolo veți sluji altor dumnezei, zi și noapte, căci nu vă voi ierta!’ 14 De aceea, iată, vin*Is. 43:18. Cap. 23:7,8. zile", zice Domnul, „când nu se va mai zice: ‘Viu este Domnul, care a scos din țara Egiptului pe copiii lui Israel!’ 15 Ci se va zice: ‘Viu este Domnul, care a scos pe copiii lui Israel din țara de la miazănoapte și din toate țările unde-i izgonise!’ Căci*Cap. 24:6;30:3;32:37. îi voi aduce înapoi în țara lor, pe care o dădusem părinților lor. 16 Iată, trimit o mulțime*Amos 4:2.Hab. 1:15. de pescari", zice Domnul, „și-i vor pescui; și, după aceea, voi trimite o mulțime de vânători și-i vor vâna pe toți munții și pe toate dealurile și în crăpăturile stâncilor. 17 Căci ochii*Iov 34:21.Prov. 5:21;15:3. Cap. 32:19. Mei sunt cu luare aminte la toate căile lor; ele nu sunt ascunse înaintea Feței Mele și nelegiuirea lor nu este ascunsă de privirile Mele. 18 De aceea le voi răsplăti mai întâi îndoit nelegiuirea*Is. 40:2. Cap. 17:18. și păcatul lor, pentru că Mi-au spurcat*Ezec. 43:7,9. țara, pentru că Mi-au umplut moștenirea cu trupurile moarte ale jertfelor aduse idolilor lor și cu urâciunile lor." 19 Doamne, tăria*Ps. 18:2., cetățuia și scăparea*Cap. 17:17. mea în ziua necazului! Neamurile vor veni la Tine de la marginile pământului și vor zice: „Părinții noștri n-au moștenit decât minciună, idoli deșerți, care nu sunt de niciun*Is. 44:10. Cap. 2:11;10:5. ajutor!" 20 Cum poate omul să-și facă dumnezei care nu sunt*Is. 37:19. Cap. 2:11.Gal. 4:8. dumnezei? 21 „De aceea iată că le arăt de data aceasta și-i fac să știe puterea și tăria Mea, și vor cunoaște că Numele Meu*Exod 15:3. Cap. 33:2.Amos 5:8. este Domnul.
