1 Thus saith Jehovah: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, 2 and say, Hear the word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people who enter in through these gates. 3 Thus saith Jehovah: Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor; and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place. 4 For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in through the gates of this house kings sitting in the place of David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, — he, and his servants, and his people. 5 But if ye will not hear these words, I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that this house shall become a waste. 6 For thus saith Jehovah concerning the house of the king of Judah: Thou art a Gilead unto me, the summit of Lebanon: verily I will make thee a wilderness, cities not inhabited. 7 And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons; and they shall cut down the choice of thy cedars, and cast them into the fire. 8 And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city? 9 And they shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah their God*GodHebrew: Elohim and worshipped other gods, and served them.

10 Weep not for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep sore for him that goeth away, for he shall return no more, nor see his native country. 11 For thus saith Jehovah concerning Shallum the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, who went forth out of this place: He shall not return thither any more; 12 for he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more. 13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his upper chambers by injustice; that taketh his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not his earning; 14 that saith, I will build me a wide house, and spacious upper chambers; and he cutteth out for himself windows; and it is wainscoted with cedar, and painted with vermilion. 15 Shalt thou reign, because thou viest with the cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice? Then it was well with him. 16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Was not this to know me? saith Jehovah. 17 But thine eyes and thy heart are only on thine extortion, and on the blood of the innocent, to shed it, and on oppression and on violence, to do it. 18 Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah: They shall not lament for him, Ah, my brother! or, Ah, sister! They shall not lament for him, Ah, lord! or Ah, his glory! 19 He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, dragged along and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

20 Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and give forth thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the heights of Abarim: for all thy lovers are destroyed. 21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy way from thy youth, that thou hearkenedst not unto my voice. 22 The wind shall feed on all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely, then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness. 23 Thou inhabitress of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how pitiful shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, pain as of a woman in travail! 24 As I live, saith Jehovah, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, were a signet upon my right hand, yet will I pluck thee thence; 25 and I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them before whom thou art afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans. 26 And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die. 27 And into the land whereunto they lift up their souls to return, thither shall they not return. 28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken vase? a vessel wherein is no delight? Wherefore are they thrown out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not? 29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah! 30 Thus saith Jehovah: Write this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

1 Așa vorbește Domnul: „Coboară-te în casa împăratului lui Iuda și acolo rostește cuvintele acestea. 2 Să spui: ‘Ascultă Cuvântul*Cap. 17:20. Domnului, împărat al lui Iuda, care stai pe scaunul de domnie al lui David, tu, slujitorii tăi și tot poporul care intrați pe porțile acestea! 3 Așa vorbește Domnul: «Faceți dreptate*Cap. 21:12. și judecată; scoateți pe cel asuprit din mâinile asupritorului; nu chinuiți*Vers. 17. pe străin, pe orfan și pe văduvă; nu apăsați și nu vărsați sânge nevinovat în locul acesta! 4 Căci, dacă lucrați după cuvântul acesta, vor intra*Cap. 17:25. pe porțile casei acesteia împărați care stau pe scaunul de domnie al lui David, suiți în care și călări pe cai, ei, slujitorii lor și poporul lor. 5 Dar, dacă nu veți asculta cuvintele acestea, pe Mine Însumi*Evr. 6:13,17. jur», zice Domnul, «că această casă va ajunge o dărâmătură!»’" 6 Căci așa vorbește Domnul asupra casei împăratului lui Iuda: „Tu ești pentru Mine precum Galaadul, ca vârful Libanului, dar, cu adevărat, voi face din tine un pustiu, o cetate fără locuitori! 7 Pregătesc împotriva ta niște nimicitori, fiecare cu armele lui: ei vor tăia cei mai frumoși*Is. 37:24. cedri ai tăi și-i vor*Cap. 21:14. arunca în foc. 8 Multe neamuri vor trece pe lângă cetatea aceasta și vor zice unul altuia: ‘Pentru ce a făcut Domnul*Deut. 29:24,25.1 Împ. 9:8,9. așa acestei cetăți mari?’ 9 Și se va răspunde: ‘Pentru că*2 Împ. 22:17.2 Cron. 34:25. au părăsit legământul Domnului Dumnezeului lor, pentru că s-au închinat înaintea altor dumnezei și le-au slujit!’" 10 Nu plângeți pe cel*2 Împ. 22:20. mort și nu vă bociți pentru el, ci plângeți mai degrabă pe cel ce se duce*Vers. 11., care nu se va mai întoarce și nu-și va mai vedea țara de naștere! 11 Căci așa vorbește Domnul despre Șalum*1 Cron. 3:15.2 Împ. 23:30., fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda, care domnea în locul tatălui său Iosia și care*2 Împ. 23:34. a ieșit din locul acesta: „Nu se va mai întoarce în el, 12 ci va muri în locul unde este dus rob și nu va mai vedea țara aceasta. 13 Vai*2 Împ. 23:35. Vers. 18. de cel ce își zidește casa cu nedreptate și odăile, cu nelegiuire; care pune*Lev. 19:13.Deut. 24:14,15.Mica 3:10.Hab. 2:9.Iac. 5:4. pe aproapele său să lucreze degeaba, fără să-i dea plata; 14 care zice: ‘Îmi voi zidi o casă mare și odăi încăpătoare’ și-i face ferestre multe, o căptușește cu cedru și o vopsește cu roșu! 15 Împărat ești tu oare, de te întreci în cedri? Nu mânca tatăl*2 Împ. 23:25. tău și nu bea și el? Și totuși el făcea dreptate și judecată, și era*Ps. 128:2.Is. 3:10. fericit! 16 Judeca pricina săracului și a celui lipsit și era fericit. Nu înseamnă lucrul acesta a Mă cunoaște?", zice Domnul. 17 „Dar tu n-ai ochi*Ezec. 19:6. și inimă decât ca să te dedai la lăcomie, ca să verși sânge nevinovat și să întrebuințezi asuprire și silnicie." 18 De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul despre Ioachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda: „Nu-l vor*Cap. 16:4,6. plânge zicând: ‘Vai*1 Împ. 13:30., fratele meu! Vai, sora mea!’ Nici nu-l vor plânge zicând: ‘Vai, doamne! Vai, Măria Sa!’ 19 Ci va*2 Cron. 36:6. Cap. 36:30. fi înmormântat ca un măgar, va fi târât și aruncat afară din porțile Ierusalimului! 20 Suie-te pe Liban și strigă! Înalță-ți glasul de pe Basan! Și strigă de pe înălțimea Abarim! Căci toți cei ce te iubeau sunt zdrobiți! 21 Ți-am vorbit când îți mergea bine, dar tu ziceai: ‘Nu pot s-ascult!’ Așa ai lucrat*Cap. 3:25;7:23. din tinerețea ta și n-ai ascultat glasul Meu. 22 Pe toți păstorii*Cap. 23:1. tăi îi va paște vântul și cei ce te iubesc*Vers. 20. vor merge în robie. Atunci vei fi acoperit de rușine și vei roși din pricina întregii tale răutăți. 23 Tu, care locuiești pe Liban acum, care îți ai cuibul în cedri, cum vei geme când te vor ajunge durerile, dureri*Cap. 6:24. ca ale unei femei în munci! 24 Pe viața Mea", zice Domnul, „că, și chiar dacă*2 Împ. 24:6,8.1 Cron. 3:16. Cap. 37:1. Ieconia*22:24 Sau: Ioiachin., fiul lui Ioiachim, împăratul lui Iuda, ar fi un inel*Cânt. 8:6.Hag. 2:23. de pecetluit în mâna Mea cea dreaptă, te-aș scoate și de acolo. 25 Te voi da*Cap. 34:20. în mâinile celor ce vor să-ți ia viața, în mâinile acelora înaintea cărora tremuri, în mâinile lui Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului, în mâinile*2 Împ. 24:15.2 Cron. 36:10. haldeenilor. 26 Te voi arunca, pe tine și pe mamă-ta care te-a născut, într-o altă țară, unde nu v-ați născut și acolo veți muri! 27 Dar, în țara în care vor dori să se întoarcă, nu se vor mai întoarce! 28 Este un vas disprețuit, sfărâmat, acest Ieconia? Este el un lucru*Ps. 31:12. Cap. 48:38.Osea 8:8. căruia nu-i dai niciun preț? Pentru ce sunt aruncați oare, el și sămânța lui, și azvârliți într-o țară pe care n-o cunosc? 29 Țară*Deut. 32:1.Is. 1:2;34:1.Mica 1:2., țară, țară, ascultă glasul Domnului! 30 Așa vorbește Domnul: ‘Scrieți pe omul acesta ca lipsit de*1 Cron. 3:16,17.Mat. 1:12. copii, ca un om căruia nu-i va merge bine toată viața lui, căci niciunul din urmașii lui nu va izbuti să șadă pe scaunul de domnie al lui David*Cap. 36:30. și să domnească peste Iuda.’"
