1 Let me sing for my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved had a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: 2 and he digged it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. 4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? 5 And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; I will break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: 6 and I will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned nor hoed; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. 7 For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but, behold, oppression; for righteousness, but, behold, a cry.

8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no room, and ye be made to dwell alone in the midst of the land! 9 In mine ears saith Jehovah of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. 10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and a homer of seed shall yield but an ephah. 11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that tarry late into the night, till wine inflame them! 12 And the harp and the lute, the tabret and the pipe, and wine, are in their feasts; but they regard not the work of Jehovah, neither have they considered the operation of his hands.

13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity for lack of knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude are parched with thirst. 14 Therefore Sheol hath enlarged its desire, and opened its mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth among them, descend into it. 15 And the mean man is bowed down, and the great man is humbled, and the eyes of the lofty are humbled: 16 but Jehovah of hosts is exalted in justice, and God the Holy One is sanctified in righteousness. 17 Then shall the lambs feed as in their pasture, and the waste places of the fat ones shall wanderers eat.

18 Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and sin as it were with a cart rope; 19 that say, Let him make speed, let him hasten his work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it! 20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink; 23 that justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24 Therefore as the tongue of fire devoureth the stubble, and as the dry grass sinketh down in the flame, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. 25 Therefore is the anger of Jehovah kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them; and the mountains tremble, and their dead bodies are as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

26 And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss for them from the end of the earth; and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly. 27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken: 28 whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses’ hoofs shall be accounted as flint, and their wheels as a whirlwind: 29 their roaring shall be like a lioness, they shall roar like young lions; yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and carry it away safe, and there shall be none to deliver. 30 And they shall roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold, darkness and distress; and the light is darkened in the clouds thereof.

Cap. 1:2,3. că are să-I facă struguri buni, dar a făcut struguri sălbatici. 3 „Acum dar", zice Domnul, „locuitori ai Ierusalimului și bărbați ai lui Iuda, judecați*Rom. 3:4. voi între Mine și via Mea! 4 Ce aș mai fi putut face viei Mele și nu i-am făcut? Pentru ce a făcut ea struguri sălbatici, când Eu mă așteptam să facă struguri buni? 5 Vă voi spune însă acum ce voi face viei Mele: îi voi smulge gardul, ca să fie păscută de vite; îi voi surpa*Ps. 80:12. zidul, ca să fie călcată în picioare; 6 o voi pustii; nu va mai fi curățită, nici săpată; spini și mărăcini vor crește în ea! Voi porunci și norilor să nu mai plouă peste ea." 7 Via Domnului oștirilor este casa lui Israel, și bărbații lui Iuda sunt vița pe care o iubea. El se aștepta la judecată și, când colo, iată sânge vărsat! Se aștepta la dreptate și, când colo, iată strigăte de apăsare! 8 Vai de cei ce înșiră casă*Mica 2:2. lângă casă și lipesc ogor lângă ogor, până nu mai rămâne loc și locuiesc în mijlocul țării! 9 Iată*Cap. 22:14. ce mi-a descoperit Domnul oștirilor: „Hotărât, aceste case multe vor fi pustiite, aceste case mari și frumoase nu vor mai fi locuite. 10 Chiar zece pogoane de vie nu vor da decât un bat*Ezec. 45:11. și un omer de sămânță nu va da decât o efă." 11 Vai*Prov. 23:29,30.Ecl. 10:16. Vers. 22. de cei ce dis-de-dimineață aleargă după băuturi amețitoare și șed până noaptea târziu și se înfierbântă de vin! 12 Harpa*Amos 6:5,6. și alăuta, timpanul, flautul și vinul le înveselesc ospețele, dar nu iau seama la lucrarea*Iov 34:27.Ps. 28:5. Domnului și nu văd lucrul mâinilor Lui. 13 De aceea*Osea 4:6., poporul meu va fi dus pe neașteptate*Cap. 1:3.Luca 19:44. în robie; boierimea lui va muri de foame și gloata lui se va usca de sete. 14 De aceea își și deschide Locuința morților gura și își lărgește peste măsură gâtlejul, ca să se coboare în ea măreția și bogăția Sionului, cu toată mulțimea lui gălăgioasă și veselă. 15 Și astfel, cei mici vor fi doborâți*Cap. 2:9,11,17., cei mari vor fi smeriți și privirile trufașe vor fi plecate. 16 Dar Domnul oștirilor va fi înălțat prin judecată și Dumnezeul cel sfânt va fi sfințit prin dreptate. 17 Acolo vor paște mieii ca pe imașul lor și păstorii pribegi vor mânca moșiile prăpădite ale bogaților*Cap. 10:16.. 18 Vai de cei ce trag după ei nelegiuirea cu funiile minciunii și păcatul, cu șleaurile unei căruțe 19 și zic*Cap. 66:5.Ier. 17:15.Amos 5:18.2 Pet. 3:3,4.: „Să-Și grăbească, să-Și facă iute lucrarea, ca s-o vedem! Să vină odată hotărârea Sfântului lui Israel și să se aducă la îndeplinire, ca s-o cunoaștem!" 20 Vai de cei ce numesc răul bine și binele, rău, care spun că întunericul este lumină și lumina, întuneric, care dau amărăciunea în loc de dulceață și dulceața, în loc de amărăciune! 21 Vai de cei ce se socotesc înțelepți*Prov. 3:7.Rom. 1:22;12:16. și se cred pricepuți! 22 Vai*Vers. 11. de cei tari când este vorba de băut vin și viteji când este vorba de amestecat băuturi tari, 23 care scot*Prov. 17:15;24:24. cu fața curată pe cel vinovat, pentru mită, și iau drepturile celor nevinovați! 24 De aceea, cum*Exod 15:7. mistuie o limbă de foc miriștea și cum arde flacăra iarba uscată, tot așa ca putregaiul le va fi rădăcina*Iov 18:16.Osea 9:16.Amos 2:9. lor și floarea li se va risipi în vânt ca țărâna, căci au nesocotit Legea Domnului oștirilor și au disprețuit Cuvântul Sfântului lui Israel. 25 De*2 Împ. 22:13,17. aceea Se și aprinde Domnul de mânie împotriva poporului Său, Își întinde mâna împotriva lui și-l lovește de se*Ier. 4:24. zguduie munții și trupurile moarte stau ca noroiul în mijlocul ulițelor. Cap. 9:12,17,21;10:4. toate acestea, mânia Lui nu se potolește și mâna Lui este încă întinsă. 26 El*Cap. 11:12. ridică un steag popoarelor îndepărtate și le fluieră*Cap. 7:18. de la un capăt*Deut. 28:49.Ps. 72:8.Mal. 1:11. al pământului: și iată-le, vin*Ioel 2:7. repede și ușor. 27 Niciunul nu este obosit, niciunul nu șovăie de oboseală, niciunul nu dormitează, nici nu doarme; niciunuia nu i se descinge brâul*Dan. 5:6. de la mijloc, nici nu i se rupe cureaua de la încălțăminte. 28 Săgețile*Ier. 5:16. lor sunt ascuțite și toate arcurile, încordate; copitele cailor lor parcă sunt cremene și roțile carelor lor parcă sunt un vârtej. 29 Răcnesc ca niște lei, mugesc ca niște pui de lei, sforăie și apucă prada, o iau cu ei, și nimeni nu vine în ajutor. 30 În ziua aceea, va fi asupra lui Iuda un muget, ca mugetul unei furtuni pe mare; uitându-se*Cap. 8:22.Ier. 4:23.Plâng. 3:2.Ezec. 32:7,8. la pământ, nu vor vedea decât întuneric și strâmtorare, iar lumina se va întuneca în norii lui.
