1 Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye peoples, from far: Jehovah hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name: 2 and he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me: and he hath made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he kept me close: 3 and he said unto me, Thou art my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified. 4 But I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nought and vanity; yet surely the justice due to me is with Jehovah, and my recompense with my God.

5 And now saith Jehovah that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered unto him (for I am honorable in the eyes of Jehovah, and my God is become my strength); 6 yea, he saith, It is too light a thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. 7 Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Jehovah that is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

8 Thus saith Jehovah, In an acceptable time have I answered thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages; 9 saying to them that are bound, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture. 10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water will he guide them. 11 And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted. 12 Lo, these shall come from far; and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. 13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for Jehovah hath comforted his people, and will have compassion upon his afflicted.

14 But Zion said, Jehovah hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me. 15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee. 16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. 17 Thy children make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth from thee. 18 Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith Jehovah, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all as with an ornament, and gird thyself with them, like a bride. 19 For, as for thy waste and thy desolate places, and thy land that hath been destroyed, surely now shalt thou be too strait for the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away. 20 The children of thy bereavement shall yet say in thine ears, The place is too strait for me; give place to me that I may dwell. 21 Then shalt thou say in thy heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have been bereaved of my children, and am solitary, an exile, and wandering to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where were they?

22 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my ensign to the peoples; and they shall bring thy sons in their bosom, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. 23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah; and they that wait for me shall not be put to shame.

24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered? 25 But thus saith Jehovah, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. 26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Meu în care*Cap. 44:23.Ioan 13:31;15:8.Efes. 1:6. Mă voi slăvi.’ 4 Și*Ezec. 3:19. Eu Mă gândeam: ‘Degeaba am muncit, în zadar și fără folos Mi-am istovit puterea.’ Dar dreptul Meu este la Domnul, și răsplata Mea la Dumnezeul Meu. 5 Și, acum, Domnul vorbește, El, care*Vers. 1. M-a întocmit din pântecele mamei ca să fiu Robul Lui, ca să aduc înapoi la El pe Iacov și pe Israel, care este încă*Mat. 23:37. împrăștiat; căci Eu sunt prețuit înaintea Domnului, și Dumnezeul Meu este tăria Mea. 6 El zice: ‘Este prea puțin lucru să fii Robul Meu ca să ridici semințiile lui Iacov și să aduci înapoi rămășițele lui Israel. De aceea, te pun să fii Lumina*Cap. 42:6;60:3.Luca 2:32.Fapte 13:47;26:18. neamurilor, ca să duci mântuirea până la marginile pământului.’" 7 Așa vorbește Domnul, Răscumpărătorul, Sfântul lui Israel, către*Cap. 53:3.Mat. 26:67. Cel disprețuit și urât de popor, către Robul celor puternici: „Împărații*Ps. 72:10,11. Vers. 23. vor vedea lucrul acesta și se vor scula, și voievozii se vor arunca la pământ și se vor închina din pricina Domnului, care este credincios, din pricina Sfântului lui Israel, care Te-a ales."

8 Așa vorbește mai departe Domnul: „La*Ps. 69:13.2 Cor. 6:2. vremea îndurării Te voi asculta și în ziua mântuirii Te voi ajuta; Te voi păzi și Te voi pune*Cap. 42:6. să faci legământ cu poporul, să ridici țara și să împarți moștenirile pustiite; 9 să spui prinșilor*Cap. 42:7.Zah. 9:12. de război: ‘Ieșiți!’ și celor ce sunt în întuneric: ‘Arătați-vă!’ Ei vor paște pe drumuri și vor găsi locuri de pășune pe toate coastele. 10 Nu le va fi foame*Apoc. 7:16., nici nu le va fi sete; nu-i*Ps. 121:6. va bate arșița, nici soarele, căci Cel ce are milă de ei îi va călăuzi*Ps. 23:2. și-i va duce la izvoare de ape. 11 Voi*Cap. 40:4. preface toți munții Mei în drumuri și drumurile Mele vor fi bine croite." 12 Iată-i*Cap. 43:5,6. că vin de departe, unii de la miazănoapte și de la apus, iar alții din țara Sinim. 13 Bucurați-vă*Cap. 44:23., ceruri! Veselește-te, pământule! Izbucniți în strigăte de bucurie, munților! Căci Domnul mângâie pe poporul Său și are milă de nenorociții Lui. 14 Sionul zicea*Cap. 40:27.: „M-a părăsit Domnul și m-a uitat Domnul!" 15 „Poate*Ps. 103:13.Mal. 3:17.Mat. 7:11. o femeie să uite copilul pe care-l alăptează și să n-aibă milă de rodul pântecelui ei? Dar*Rom. 11:29. chiar dacă l-ar uita, totuși Eu nu te voi uita cu niciun chip. 16 Iată că te-am săpat pe*Exod 13:9.Cânt. 8:6. mâinile Mele, și zidurile tale sunt totdeauna înaintea ochilor Mei! 17 Fiii tăi aleargă, dar*Vers. 19. cei ce te dărâmaseră și te pustiiseră vor ieși din mijlocul tău. 18 Ridică-ți*Cap. 60:4. ochii de jur împrejur și privește: toți aceștia se strâng, vin la tine. Pe viața Mea", zice Domnul, „că te vei îmbrăca cu toți aceștia ca*Prov. 17:6. și cu o podoabă și te vei încinge cu ei ca o mireasă. 19 Căci locurile tale pustiite și pustii, țara ta nimicită, vor*Cap. 54:1,2.Zah. 2:4;10:10. fi strâmte pentru locuitorii tăi, și cei ce voiau să te mănânce se vor depărta. 20 Fiii*Cap. 60:4. aceștia de care ai fost lipsit*Mat. 3:9.Rom. 11:11. vor spune mereu la urechile tale: ‘Locul este prea strâmt pentru mine; fă-mi loc, ca să pot să mă așez!’ 21 Și vei zice în inima ta: ‘Cine mi i-a născut? Căci eram fără copii și stearpă; eram roabă, izgonită. Cine i-a crescut? Rămăsesem singură. Unde erau aceștia?’" 22 De aceea, așa*Cap. 60:4;66:20. vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: „Iată, voi face neamurilor semn cu mâna și-Mi voi înălța steagul spre popoare; ele vor aduce înapoi pe fiii tăi în brațele lor și vor duce pe fiicele tale pe umeri. 23 Te vor hrăni împărați*Ps. 72:11. Vers. 7. Cap. 52:15; 60:16. și împărătesele lor te vor alăpta. Se vor închina cu fața la pământ înaintea ta și vor linge*Ps. 72:9.Mica 7:17. țărâna de pe picioarele tale, ca să știi că Eu sunt Domnul și că*Ps. 34:22.Rom. 5:5;9:33;10:11. cei ce nădăjduiesc în Mine nu vor fi dați de rușine." 24 Se poate*Mat. 12:29.Luca 11:21,22. lua prada celui puternic? Și poate să scape cel prins din prinsoare? 25 „Da", zice Domnul, „prada celui puternic îi va fi luată și cel prins de asupritor va scăpa, căci Eu voi lupta împotriva vrăjmașilor tăi și voi scăpa pe fiii tăi. 26 Eu voi da*Cap. 9:20. asupritorilor tăi să-și mănânce carnea și se vor îmbăta ca de must de însuși sângele*Apoc. 14:20;16:6. lor. Și va*Ps. 9:16. Cap. 60:16. ști orice făptură că Eu sunt Domnul, Mântuitorul tău, Răscumpărătorul tău, Puternicul lui Iacov."
