Salmos 19

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.*19.3 where…: or, without these their voice is heard: Heb. without their voice heard

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,*19.4 line: or, rule, or, direction

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.*19.7 law: or, doctrine*19.7 converting: or, restoring

8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.*19.9 true: Heb. truth

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.*19.10 the honeycomb: Heb. the dropping of honeycombs

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.*19.13 the great: or, much

14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.*19.14 strength: Heb. rock

La gloire de Dieu célébrée dans le cours du soleil ; éloge de la Loi de Dieu.

1 Psaume de David, donné au maître chantre. 2 Les cieux racontent la gloire du Dieu Fort, et l’étendue donne à connaître l’ouvrage de ses mains. 3 Un jour fournit en abondance de quoi parler à l’autre jour, et une nuit montre la science à l’autre nuit. 4 Il n’y a point en eux de langage, il n’y a point de paroles ; toutefois leur voix est ouïe. 5 Leur contour couvre toute la terre, et leur voix est allée jusqu’au bout du monde habitable. Il a posé en eux un pavillon pour le soleil ; 6 Tellement qu’il est semblable à un époux sortant de son cabinet nuptial ; il s’égaie comme un homme vaillant pour faire sa course. 7 Son départ est de l’un des bouts des cieux, et son tour se fait sur l’un et sur l’autre bout, et il n’y a rien qui se puisse mettre à couvert de sa chaleur. 8 La Loi de l’Eternel est parfaite, restaurant l’âme ; le témoignage de l’Eternel est assuré, donnant la sagesse au simple. 9 Les commandements de l’Eternel sont droits, ils réjouissent le coeur ; le commandement de l’Eternel est pur, et fait que les yeux voient. 10 La crainte de l’Eternel est pure, permanente à perpétuité ; les jugements de l’Eternel ne sont que vérité, et ils se trouvent pareillement justes. 11 Ils sont plus désirables que l’or, même que beaucoup de fin or ; et plus doux que le miel, même que ce qui distille des rayons de miel. 12 Aussi ton serviteur est rendu éclairé par eux, et il y a un grand salaire à les observer. 13 Qui est-ce qui connaît ses fautes commises par erreur ? Purifie-moi de mes fautes cachées. 14 Eloigne aussi ton serviteur des actions commises par fierté, en sorte qu’elles ne dominent point en moi ; alors je serai pur, et serai net des grands crimes. Que les propos de ma bouche, et la méditation de mon coeur te soient agréables, ô Eternel ! mon rocher, et mon Rédempteur.
