Salmos 53

To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David.

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.*53.1 Maschil: or, of instruction

2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.

3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.

5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.*53.5 were…: Heb. they feared a fear

6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.*53.6 Oh that…: Heb. Who will give salvation, etc

Crime de l’Athée et la corruption du genre humain.

1 Maskil de David, donné au maître chantre, pour le chanter sur Mahalath. 2 L’insensé dit en son coeur : Il n’y a point de Dieu. Ils se sont corrompus, ils ont rendu abominable leur perversité ; il n’y a personne qui fasse bien. 3 Dieu a regardé des Cieux sur les fils des hommes, pour voir s’il y en a quelqu’un qui soit intelligent, et qui cherche Dieu. 4 Ils se sont tous retirés en arrière, et se sont tous rendus odieux : il n’y a personne qui fasse bien, non pas même un seul. 5 Les ouvriers d’iniquité n’ont-ils point de connaissance, mangeant mon peuple, comme s’ils mangeaient du pain ? Ils n’invoquent point Dieu. 6 Ils seront extrêmement effrayés là où ils n’avaient point eu de peur ; car Dieu a dispersé les os de celui qui se campe contre toi. Tu les as rendus confus, parce que Dieu les a rendus contemptibles. Ô qui donnera de Sion les délivrances d’Israël ? Quand Dieu aura ramené son peuple captif, Jacob s’égayera, Israël se réjouira.
