1 Kurjan rukous, kun hän on näännyksissä ja vuodattaa valituksensa Herran eteen. (H102:2) Herra, kuule minun rukoukseni, ja minun huutoni tulkoon sinun eteesi.

2 (H102:3) Älä peitä minulta kasvojasi, kun minulla on ahdistus, kallista korvasi minun puoleeni. Kun minä huudan, riennä ja vastaa minulle.

3 (H102:4) Sillä minun päiväni ovat haihtuneet kuin savu, ja minun luitani polttaa niinkuin ahjossa.

4 (H102:5) Sydämeni on paahtunut ja kuivunut kuin ruoho, sillä minä unhotan syödä leipääni.

5 (H102:6) Äänekkäästä vaikerruksestani minun luuni tarttuvat minun nahkaani.

6 (H102:7) Minä olen kuin pelikaani erämaassa, olen kuin huuhkaja raunioissa.

7 (H102:8) Minä olen uneton, olen kuin yksinäinen lintu katolla.

8 (H102:9) Kaiken päivää viholliseni minua häpäisevät; ne, jotka riehuvat minua vastaan, kiroavat minun nimeni kautta.

9 (H102:10) Sillä minä syön tuhkaa kuin leipää ja sekoitan juomani kyyneleillä

10 (H102:11) sinun vihasi ja kiivastuksesi tähden, sillä sinä olet nostanut minut ylös ja viskannut pois.

11 (H102:12) Minun päiväni ovat kuin pitenevä varjo, ja minä kuivun kuin ruoho.

12 (H102:13) Mutta sinä, Herra, hallitset iankaikkisesti, sinun muistosi pysyy polvesta polveen.

13 (H102:14) Nouse ja armahda Siionia, sillä aika on tehdä sille laupeus ja määrähetki on tullut.

14 (H102:15) Sillä sen kivet ovat sinun palvelijoillesi rakkaat, ja sen soraläjiä heidän on sääli.

15 (H102:16) Silloin pakanat pelkäävät Herran nimeä ja kaikki maan kuninkaat sinun kunniaasi,

16 (H102:17) kun Herra rakentaa Siionin ja ilmestyy kunniassansa,

17 (H102:18) kun hän kääntyy niiden rukouksen puoleen, jotka ovat kaikkensa menettäneet, eikä enää heidän rukoustansa hylkää.

18 (H102:19) Tämä kirjoitettakoon tulevalle polvelle, ja kansa, joka vastedes luodaan, on kiittävä Herraa,

19 (H102:20) että hän katseli pyhästä korkeudestaan, että Herra katsoi taivaasta maahan,

20 (H102:21) kuullaksensa vankien huokaukset, vapauttaaksensa kuoleman lapset,

21 (H102:22) jotta Siionissa julistettaisiin Herran nimeä ja hänen ylistystänsä Jerusalemissa,

22 (H102:23) kun kaikki kansat kokoontuvat yhteen, ja valtakunnat, palvelemaan Herraa.

23 (H102:24) Hän on lannistanut matkalla minun voimani, on lyhentänyt minun päiväni.

24 (H102:25) Minä sanon: Jumalani, älä tempaa minua pois kesken ikääni; sinun vuotesi kestävät suvusta sukuun.

25 (H102:26) Muinoin sinä perustit maan, ja taivaat ovat sinun käsialasi.

26 (H102:27) Ne katoavat, mutta sinä pysyt, ne vanhenevat kaikki kuin vaate; sinä muutat ne, niinkuin vaatteet muutetaan, ja ne muuttuvat.

27 (H102:28) Mutta sinä pysyt samana, eivätkä sinun vuotesi lopu.

28 (H102:29) Sinun palvelijaisi lapset saavat asua turvassa, ja heidän jälkeläisensä pysyvät sinun edessäsi.

1 Hear my prayer, O Jehovah,

And let my cry come unto thee.

2 Hide not thy face from me in the day of my distress:

Incline thine ear unto me;

In the day when I call answer me speedily.

3 For my days consume away like smoke,

And my bones are burned as a firebrand.

4 My heart is smitten like grass, and withered;

For I forget to eat my bread.

5 By reason of the voice of my groaning

My bones cleave to my flesh.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness;

I am become as an owl of the waste places.

7 I watch, and am become like a sparrow

That is alone upon the house-top.

8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day;

They that are mad against me do curse by me.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,

And mingled my drink with weeping,

10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath:

For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.

11 My days are like a shadow that declineth;

And I am withered like grass.

12 But thou, O Jehovah, wilt abide for ever;

And thy memorial name unto all generations.

13 Thou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion;

For it is time to have pity upon her,

Yea, the set time is come.

14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones,

And have pity upon her dust.

15 So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah,

And all the kings of the earth thy glory.

16 For Jehovah hath built up Zion;

He hath appeared in his glory.

17 He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute,

And hath not despised their prayer.

18 This shall be written for the generation to come;

And a people which shall be created shall praise Jehovah.

19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary;

From heaven did Jehovah behold the earth;

20 To hear the sighing of the prisoner;

To loose those that are appointed to death;

21 That men may declare the name of Jehovah in Zion,

And his praise in Jerusalem;

22 When the peoples are gathered together,

And the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.

23 He weakened my strength in the way;

He shortened my days.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:

Thy years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth;

And the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure;

Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;

As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

27 But thou art the same,

And thy years shall have no end.

28 The children of thy servants shall continue,

And their seed shall be established before thee.
