Ezequiel 18

A responsabilidade é pessoal

1 De novo, veio a mim a palavra de Jeová, dizendo: 2 *Is 3.15Que quereis vós dizer, usando na terra de Israel deste provérbio: *Jr 31.29;Lm 5.7;Mt 23.36Os pais comeram uvas verdes, e os dentes dos filhos estão embotados? 3 Pela minha vida, diz o Senhor Jeová, *Ez 18.19-20,30;Ez 33.11-20não tereis mais ocasião de usardes desse provérbio em Israel. 4 Eis que *Nm 16.22;27.16;Is 42.5;57.16todas as almas são minhas; como o é a alma do pai, assim também a alma do filho é minha; a alma *Ez 18.20;Rm 6.23que pecar, essa morrerá.

5 Porém, se um homem for justo, e fizer o que é de equidade e justiça, 6 *Ez 18.15;Ez 6.13;22.9e se não comer sobre os montes, nem *Ez 18.12,15;Ez 20.24;33.25;Dt 4.19levantar os seus olhos para os ídolos da casa de Israel, nem *Ez 18.15;Ez 22.11contaminar a mulher do seu próximo, nem *Ez 22.10;Lv 18.19se chegar à mulher na sua separação; 7 se não oprimir a ninguém, porém *Ez 33.15;Dt 24.13;Am 2.8tornar ao devedor o seu penhor, *Lv 19.13;Am 3.10se não tirar nada do alheio por violência, *Ez 18.16;Dt 15.11;Mt 25.35-40;Lc 3.11se der do seu pão ao que tem fome e ao nu cobrir com vestido; 8 se não der o seu dinheiro *Êx 22.25;Dt 23.19-20à usura, nem receber *Lv 25.36mais do que o que emprestou, se desviar a sua mão da iniquidade e *Zc 7.9;8.16fizer verdadeiro juízo entre homem e homem; 9 se andar nos meus *Ez 18.19,21estatutos e guardar os meus juízos, para proceder segundo a verdade, este tal é justo; certamente, *Hc 2.4;Rm 1.17viverá, diz o Senhor Jeová.

10 Se ele gerar um filho que se torne *Ez 22.29salteador, *Ez 22.6que derrame sangue, e que faça a seu irmão qualquer dessas coisas, 11 e que não cumpra com nenhum destes deveres, porém *Ez 18.6,15coma sobre os montes, e contamine a mulher do seu próximo, 12 oprima ao *Am 4.1;Zc 7.10pobre e necessitado, *Ez 18.7,16,18;Ez 7.23;Is 59.6-7;Jr 22.3,17tire de outro com violência, não devolva o penhor, *Ez 18.6,15levante os seus olhos aos ídolos, *Ez 8.6,17;2Rs 21.11cometa abominações, 13 dê o seu dinheiro *Ez 18.8,17à usura e receba mais do que emprestou, acaso, viverá ele? Não viverá. Comete todas essas abominações; certamente, morrerá, e *Ez 33.4-5o seu sangue será sobre ele.

14 Eis que se este, por sua vez, *Ez 18.10;Pv 23.24gerar um filho que, vendo todos os pecados cometidos por seu pai, *2Cr 29.6-10;34.21tema e não faça coisas semelhantes, 15 *Ez 18.6,11que não coma sobre os montes, *Ez 18.6,12nem levante os seus olhos aos ídolos da casa de Israel, que não contamine a mulher do seu próximo, 16 nem oprima a pessoa alguma, que não empreste *Ez 18.7,12sob penhores, nem tire de outrem com violência, porém *Ez 18.7;Jó 31.16,20;Sl 41.1;Is 58.7,10dê o seu pão ao faminto, e ao nu cubra com vestido, 17 que aparte *Ez 18.12do pobre a sua mão, que não receba *Ez 18.8,13usura nem mais do que emprestou, *Ez 18.9que execute os meus juízos e ande nos meus estatutos, *Ez 18.19-20este não morrerá por causa da iniquidade de seu pai; certamente, viverá. 18 Quanto a seu pai, porque *Ez 18.10-13oprimiu cruelmente, *Ez 18.7,12,16tirou de seu irmão com violência e fez o que não é bom entre o seu povo, eis que ele *Ez 18.13morrerá na sua iniquidade.

19 Contudo, dizeis: *Ez 18.2;Êx 20.5;Jr 15.4Por que não leva o filho a iniquidade do pai? Quando o filho fizer o que *Ez 18.9;Ez 20.18-20;Zc 1.3-6é de equidade e justiça, e guardar todos os meus estatutos, e os cumprir, certamente, viverá. 20 A alma *Ez 18.4;2Rs 14.6;22.18-20que peca, essa morrerá; *Dt 24.16;Jr 31.30o filho não levará a iniquidade do pai, nem o pai levará a iniquidade do filho. *1Rs 8.32;Is 3.10-11;Mt 16.27;Rm 2.6-9A justiça do justo será sobre ele, e a impiedade do ímpio será sobre ele.

21 Mas, se *Ez 18.27-28;Ez 33.12,19o ímpio se converter de todos os seus pecados que cometeu, e guardar *Ez 18.9,19;Ez 36.27;Gn 26.5;Sl 119.80,112todos os meus estatutos, e fizer o que é de equidade e justiça, *Ez 18.17,28;Ez 3.21certamente, viverá; não morrerá. 22 *Ez 18.24;Ez 33.16;Is 43.25;Jr 50.20;Mq 7.19Nenhuma das suas transgressões que cometeu será lembrada contra ele; *Sl 18.20-24na sua justiça que praticou, viverá. 23 *Ez 18.32;Ez 33.11;Lm 3.33;Os 11.8Acaso, tenho eu prazer na morte do ímpio? — diz o Senhor Jeová; não quero eu, *Sl 147.11;Mq 7.18antes, que se converta do seu caminho e viva? 24 Mas, quando o justo *Ez 18.26;Ez 3.20;33.18;1Sm 15.11;2Cr 24.2,17-22se desviar da sua justiça, e cometer iniquidade, e fizer conforme todas as abominações que faz o ímpio, acaso, viverá ele? Não será lembrado *Ez 18.22;Gl 3.3-4nenhum dos seus atos de justiça que praticou; *Ez 17.20;20.27;Pv 21.16na sua transgressão com que transgrediu e no seu pecado com que pecou, neles morrerá.

25 Contudo, dizeis: *Ez 18.29;Ez 33.17,20;Ml 2.17;3.13-15O caminho do Senhor não é igual. Ouvi, pois, ó casa de Israel: Acaso, *Gn 18.25;Jr 12.1;Sf 3.5não é igual o meu caminho? Não são desiguais os vossos caminhos? 26 Quando o justo *Ez 18.24se desviar da sua justiça, e cometer a iniquidade, e nela morrer, na sua iniquidade que cometeu morrerá. 27 Outrossim, quando o ímpio *Ez 18.21se desviar da sua impiedade que cometeu e fizer o que é de equidade e justiça, conservará este a sua alma em vida. 28 Porquanto considera e *Ez 18.22,30-31se desvia de todas as suas transgressões que cometeu, certamente, viverá; não morrerá. 29 Contudo, diz a casa de Israel: *Ez 18.25O caminho do Senhor não é igual. Acaso, não são iguais os meus caminhos, ó casa de Israel? 30 Portanto, vos julgarei, ó casa de Israel, cada um *Ez 7.3;24.14;33.20;1Pe 1.17conforme os seus caminhos, diz o Senhor Jeová. *Ez 14.6;33.11;Os 12.6Convertei-vos e desviai-vos de todas as vossas transgressões; assim, a iniquidade não vos será pedra de tropeço. 31 *Is 1.16-17;55.7Lançai de vós todas as vossas transgressões com que transgredistes e fazei-vos *Ez 11.19;36.26;Sl 51.10um coração novo e um espírito novo. Pois por que morrereis, ó casa de Israel? 32 Porquanto *Ez 18.23;Ez 33.11não tenho prazer na morte do que morre, diz o Senhor Jeová. Portanto, *Ez 18.30convertei-vos e vivei.

1 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying, 2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge? 3 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. 4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,*18.5 that…: Heb. judgment and justice 6 And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman, 7 And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment; 8 He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man, 9 Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.

10 If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,*18.10 robber: or, breaker up of an house*18.10 that doeth…: or, that doeth to his brother besides any of these 11 And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour’s wife, 12 Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination, 13 Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.*18.13 blood: Heb. bloods

14 Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father’s sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like, 15 That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour’s wife, 16 Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,*18.16 hath not…: Heb. hath not pledged the pledge, or, taken to pledge 17 That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live. 18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. 20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? 26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. 27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. 28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.*18.30 yourselves: or, others

31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.*18.32 yourselves: or, others
