O rei de Israel comparado a um leão engaiolado

1 Demais, faze uma *Ez 19.14;Ez 2.10lamentação sobre os *2Rs 23.29-30,34;24.6,12;25.5-7príncipes de Israel 2 e dize: Que de *Nm 23.24;24.9;Na 2.11-12leoa era tua mãe entre os leões! No meio dos *Is 5.29;Zc 11.3leões novos deitou-se e nutriu os seus cachorrinhos. 3 Criou um dos seus cachorrinhos, que, *Ez 19.6;2Rs 23.31-32fazendo-se leão novo, aprendeu a apanhar presa e devorava homens. 4 Também as nações ouviram falar dele; foi *2Rs 23.34;2Cr 36.4,6apanhado na cova que elas fizeram, e levaram-no com argolas à terra do Egito. 5 Ora, a leoa, vendo que já tinha esperado demais, e perdida toda a esperança, pegou em *2Rs 24.8outro dos seus cachorrinhos e fê-lo leão novo. 6 Ele *2Rs 24.9;2Cr 36.9andava entre os leões *Ez 19.3e fez-se leão novo; aprendeu a apanhar presa e devorava homens. 7 Conheceu os palácios deles e devastou as suas cidades; ficou desolada a terra e *Ez 12.19;30.12;Am 6.8;Mq 1.2a sua plenitude, por causa do som do seu rugir. 8 Então, se ajuntaram contra ele *2Rs 24.11as nações vindas das províncias de todos os lados; *Ez 12.13;17.20e estenderam sobre ele a sua rede; e ele foi apanhado na cova que elas fizeram. 9 Com argolas, meteram-no numa gaiola *2Rs 24.15e levaram-no ao rei de Babilônia; fizeram-no entrar em lugares fortes, para que não se ouvisse mais a sua voz sobre os montes de Israel.

10 Tua mãe, à tua semelhança, era *Sl 80.8-11como uma vide plantada junto às águas; era frutífera e cheia de sarmentos por causa das muitas águas. 11 Tinha ela *Sl 80.15varas fortes para os cetros dos que dominavam, foi exaltada *Ez 31.3a sua estatura entre os espessos ramos e foi vista na sua altura com a multidão dos seus ramos. 12 Porém, em furor, foi ela *Jr 31.28arrancada *Ez 28.17;Lm 2.1e lançada por terra, *Ez 17.10;Os 13.15e o vento oriental secou ao seu fruto. Foram quebradas e secaram as suas *Ez 19.11;Is 27.11fortes varas; o fogo as consumiu. 13 Agora está plantada num *Ez 19.10;Ez 20.35;2Rs 24.12-16;Os 2.3deserto, numa terra árida e sedenta. 14 Das varas dos seus ramos saiu *Ez 15.4;20.47-48um fogo que consumiu ao seu fruto de maneira que não há mais nela *Ez 19.11vara forte que sirva de cetro para dominar. Isso é *Ez 19.1para lamentar e servirá de lamentação.

1 Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions. 3 And she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to catch the prey; it devoured men. 4 The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with chains unto the land of Egypt. 5 Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion. 6 And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey, and devoured men. 7 And he knew their desolate palaces, and he laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, by the noise of his roaring.*19.7 their desolate…: or, their widows*19.7 the fulness…: or, all it containeth 8 Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit. 9 And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.*19.9 in chains: or, in hooks

10 Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.*19.10 in…: or, in thy quietness, or, in thy likeness 11 And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches. 12 But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them. 13 And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground. 14 And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
