1 Send the lamb of the ruler of the land from the rock to the wilderness, — unto the mount of the daughter of Zion. 2 And it shall be that as a wandering bird, as a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon. 3 Bring in counsel, execute justice; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of noonday; hide the outcasts, discover not the fugitive. 4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the waster. For the extortioner is at an end, the wasting hath ceased, the oppressors are consumed out of the land. 5 And a throne shall be established in mercy: and in the tent of David there shall sit upon it, in truth, one judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.

6 We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, — he is very proud, — of his pride, and his arrogance, and his wrath: his pratings are vain. 7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab; every one of them shall howl. For the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn, verily afflicted. 8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, the vine of Sibmah; the lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants: they reached unto Jaazer, they wandered through the wilderness; its shoots stretched out, they went beyond the sea. 9 Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jaazer for the vine of Sibmah; with my tears will I water thee, Heshbon, and Elealeh, for a cry is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy harvest. 10 And joy and gladness is taken away out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there is no singing, neither is there shouting: the treaders tread out no wine in the presses, I have made the cry of the winepress to cease. 11 Therefore my bowels sound like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirheres. 12 And it shall come to pass, when Moab shall appear, shall weary himself on the high place, and enter into his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail. 13 This is the word which Jehovah hath spoken from of old concerning Moab. 14 And now Jehovah speaketh saying, Within three years, as the years of a hired servant, and the glory of Moab shall be brought to nothing, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be small, few, of no account.

Sela, prin pustie, la muntele fiicei Sionului! 2 Ca o pasăre fugară, zgornită din cuib, așa vor fi fiicele Moabului la trecerea Arnonului*Num. 21:13.. 3 Și vor zice: ‘Sfătuiește, mijlocește, acoperă-ne ziua-n amiaza mare cu umbra ta ca noaptea neagră, ascunde pe cei ce sunt urmăriți, nu da pe față pe cei fugiți! 4 Lasă să locuiască pentru o vreme la tine cei goniți din Moab, fii un loc de scăpare pentru ei împotriva pustiitorului!’ Căci apăsarea va înceta, pustiirea se va sfârși, cel ce calcă țara în picioare va pieri. 5 Și atunci, un scaun de domnie se*Dan. 7:14,27.Mica 4:7.Luca 1:33. va întări prin îndurare și se va vedea șezând cu credincioșie, în casa lui David, un*Ps. 72:2;96:13;98:9. judecător, prieten al dreptului și plin de râvnă pentru dreptate. – 6 ‘Auzim îngâmfarea mândrului*Ier. 48:29.Ţef. 2:10. Moab, fudulia și fala lui, trufia*Cap. 28:15. și lăudăroșia lui.’ 7 De aceea geme*Ier. 48:20. Moabul pentru Moab, toți gem; suspinați pe dărâmăturile Chir-Haresetului*2 Împ. 3:25., adânc mâhniți, 8 căci câmpiile*Cap. 24:7. Hesbonului lâncezesc; stăpânii neamurilor au sfărâmat butucii viei din*Vers. 9. Sibma, care se întindeau până la Iaezer și se încâlceau prin pustie: mlădițele ei se întindeau și treceau dincolo de mare. 9 De aceea plâng pentru via din Sibma ca pentru Iaezer; vă ud*Ier. 48:32. cu lacrimile mele, Hesbonule*Cap. 15:4. și Eleale! Căci peste culesul roadelor voastre și peste secerișul vostru a căzut un strigăt de război! 10 S-a*Cap. 24:8.Ier. 48:33. dus bucuria și veselia din câmpii! Și în vii nu mai sunt cântece, nu mai sunt veselii! Nimeni nu mai calcă vinul în teascuri. Am făcut să înceteze strigătele de bucurie la cules. 11 De aceea îmi plânge sufletul*Cap. 15:5;63:15.Ier. 48:36. pentru Moab ca o harpă și inima, pentru Chir-Hares. 12 Și, când se va arăta Moabul, obosindu-se pe înălțimi*Cap. 15:2., și va intra în locașul său cel sfânt să se roage, nu va putea să capete nimic!" 13 Acesta este cuvântul pe care l-a rostit Domnul de multă vreme asupra Moabului. 14 Iar acum Domnul vorbește și zice:

„În trei ani, ca*Cap. 21:16. anii unui simbriaș, slava Moabului va fi disprețuită, împreună cu toată această mare mulțime, și ce va rămâne va fi puțin lucru, aproape nimic."
