1 And Jehovah said to me, Take thee a great tablet, and write thereon with a man’s style, concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz. 2 And I took unto me to witness, sure witnesses, Urijah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. 3 And I came near to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son; and Jehovah said unto me, Call his name, Maher-shalal-hash-baz. 4 For before the lad knoweth to cry, My father! and, My mother! the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria. 5 And Jehovah spoke again to me, saying, 6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah which flow softly, and rejoiceth in Rezin and in the son of Remaliah, 7 therefore behold, the Lord will bring up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, the king of Assyria and all his glory; and he shall mount up over all his channels, and go over all his banks: 8 and he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow it and go further, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel!

9 Rage, ye peoples, and be broken in pieces! And give ear, all ye distant parts of the earth: Gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces! 10 Settle a plan, and it shall come to nought; speak a word, and it shall not stand: for ·God*GodHebrew: El is with us. 11 For Jehovah spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and he instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 Ye shall not say, Conspiracy, of everything of which this people saith, Conspiracy; and fear ye not their fear, and be not in dread. 13 Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 And he will be for a sanctuary; and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. 17 And I will wait for Jehovah, who hideth his face from the house of Jacob; and I will look for him. 18 Behold, I and the children that Jehovah hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel, from Jehovah of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion. 19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto the necromancers and unto the soothsayers, who chirp and who mutter, say, Shall not a people seek unto their God*GodHebrew: ElohimWill they go for the living unto the dead? 20 To the law and the testimony! If they speak not according to this word, for them there is no daybreak. 21 And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass when they are hungry, they will fret themselves, and curse their king and their God*GodHebrew: Elohim and will gaze upward: 22 and they will look to the earth; and behold, trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they shall be driven into thick darkness.

1 Domnul mi-a zis: „Ia o tablă mare și scrie*Cap. 30:8.Hab. 2:2. pe ea așa, ca să se înțeleagă: ‘Grăbește-te de prădează, aruncă-te asupra prăzii!’" 2 Am luat cu mine niște martori vrednici de credință: pe preotul Urie*2 Împ. 16:10. și pe Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia. 3 M-am apropiat de prorociță. Ea a zămislit și a născut un fiu. Apoi, Domnul mi-a zis: „Pune-i numele Maher-Șalal-Haș-Baz (Grăbește de prădează, aruncă-te asupra prăzii), 4 căci*Cap. 7:16., înainte ca să știe copilul să spună: ‘tată’ și ‘mamă’, se vor lua dinaintea împăratului Asiriei bogățiile*2 Împ. 15:29;16:9. Cap. 17:3. Damascului și prada Samariei." 5 Domnul mi-a vorbit iarăși și mi-a zis: 6 „Pentru că poporul acesta a disprețuit apele din Siloe*Neem. 3:15.Ioan 9:7., care curg lin, și s-a bucurat de*Cap. 7:1,2,6. Rețin și de fiul lui Remalia, 7 iată, Domnul va trimite împotriva lor apele puternice și mari ale râului (Eufrat), adică pe împăratul*Cap. 10:12. Asiriei cu toată puterea lui; pretutindeni el va ieși din albia lui și se va vărsa peste malurile lui; 8 va pătrunde în Iuda, va da peste maluri, va năvăli și va*Cap. 30:28. ajunge până la gât. Iar aripile întinse ale oastei lui vor umple întinderea țării tale, Emanuele*Cap. 7:14.!" 9 „Scoateți strigăte*Ioel 3:9. de război cât voiți, popoare, căci tot veți fi zdrobite; luați aminte, toți cei ce locuiți departe! Pregătiți-vă oricât de luptă, căci tot veți fi zdrobiți. Pregătiți-vă oricât de luptă, căci tot veți fi zdrobiți. 10 Faceți la planuri*Iov 5:12. cât voiți, căci nu se va alege nimic de ele! Dumnezeu este cu noi (Emanuel)." 11 Așa mi-a vorbit Domnul când m-a apucat mâna Lui și m-a înștiințat să nu umblu pe calea poporului acestuia: 12 „Nu numiți uneltire tot ce numește poporul*Cap. 7:2. acesta uneltire și*1 Pet. 3:14,15. nu vă temeți de ce se teme el, nici nu vă speriați! 13 Sfințiți însă pe*Num. 20:12. Domnul oștirilor. De El*Ps. 76:7.Luca 12:5. să vă temeți și să vă înfricoșați. 14 Și atunci El*Ezec. 11:16. va fi un locaș sfânt, dar și o piatră*Cap. 28:16.Luca 2:34.Rom. 9:33.1 Pet. 2:8. de poticnire, o stâncă de păcătuire pentru cele două case ale lui Israel, un laț și o cursă pentru locuitorii Ierusalimului! 15 Mulți se*Mat. 21:44.Luca 20:18.Rom. 9:32;11:25. vor poticni, vor cădea și se vor sfărâma, vor da în laț și vor fi prinși." – 16 „Învelește această mărturie, pecetluiește această descoperire între ucenicii Mei!" 17 Eu nădăjduiesc în Domnul, care Își ascunde*Cap. 54:8. Fața de casa lui Iacov. În El îmi pun încrederea*Hab. 2:3.Luca 2:25,38.. 18 Iată*Evr. 2:13., eu și copiii pe care mi i-a dat Domnul suntem*Ps. 71:7.Zah. 3:8. niște semne și niște minuni în Israel, din partea Domnului oștirilor, care locuiește pe muntele Sionului. 19 Dacă vi se zice însă: „Întrebați*1 Sam. 28:8. Cap. 19:3. pe cei ce cheamă morții și pe cei ce spun viitorul, care șoptesc*Cap. 29:4. și bolborosesc!", răspundeți: „Nu va întreba oare un popor pe Dumnezeul său? Va întreba el pe*Ps. 106:28. cei morți pentru cei vii? 20 La*Luca 16:29. lege și la mărturie!" Căci, dacă nu vor vorbi așa, nu*Mica 3:6. vor mai răsări zorile pentru poporul acesta. 21 El va pribegi prin țară apăsat și flămând și, când îi va fi foame, se va mânia și va huli*Apoc. 16:11. pe Împăratul și Dumnezeul lui, apoi, fie că va ridica ochii în sus, 22 fie că se va*Cap. 5:30. uita spre pământ, iată, nu va fi decât necaz, negură, nevoie neagră și se va vedea izgonit în întuneric*Cap. 9:1. beznă.
