1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God*GodHebrew: Elohim2 Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her time of suffering is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she hath received of Jehovah’s hand double for all her sins.

3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of Jehovah, make straight in the desert a highway for our God*GodHebrew: Elohim4 Every valley shall be raised up, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places a plain. 5 And the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken. 6 A voice saith, Cry. And he saith, What shall I cry? — All flesh is grass, and all the comeliness thereof as the flower of the field. 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, for the breath of Jehovah bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God*GodHebrew: Elohim abideth for ever.

9 O Zion, that bringest glad tidings, get thee up into a high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest glad tidings, lift up thy voice with strength: lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God*GodHebrew: Elohim10 Behold, the Lord Jehovah will come with might, and his arm shall rule for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompence before him. 11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd: he will gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom; he will gently lead those that give suck.

12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out the heavens with his span, and grasped the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in a balance, and the hills in scales? 13 Who hath directed the Spirit of Jehovah, and, as his counsellor, hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who gave him intelligence, and instructed him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed him the way of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are esteemed as a drop of the bucket, and as the fine dust on the scales; behold, he taketh up the isles as an atom. 16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt-offering. 17 All the nations are as nothing before him; they are esteemed by him less than a cipher, and vanity.

18 To whom then will ye liken ·God*GodHebrew: El and what likeness will ye compare unto him? 19 The workman casteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains for it. 20 He that is impoverished, so that he hath no offering, chooseth a tree that doth not rot; he seeketh unto him a skilled workman to prepare a graven image that shall not be moved. 21 — Do ye not know? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood the foundation of the earth? 22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a gauze curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in; 23 that bringeth the princes to nothing, that maketh the judges of the earth as vanity. 24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely are they sown, scarcely hath their stock taken root in the earth, but he also bloweth upon them and they wither, and the whirlwind taketh them away as stubble. 25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see! Who hath created these things, bringing out their host by number? He calleth them all by name; through the greatness of his might and strength of power, not one faileth.

27 Why sayest thou, Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from Jehovah, and my right is passed away from my God*GodHebrew: Elohim28 Dost thou not know, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God*GodHebrew: Elohim Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not nor tireth? There is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and shall tire, and the young men shall stumble and fall; 31 but they that wait upon Jehovah shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not tire; they shall walk, and not faint.

Cap. 49:11. în locurile uscate un drum pentru Dumnezeul nostru! 4 Orice vale să fie înălțată, orice munte și orice deal să fie plecate, coastele să se prefacă*Cap. 45:2. în câmpii și strâmtorile, în vâlcele! 5 Atunci se va descoperi slava Domnului, și în clipa aceea orice făptură o va vedea, căci gura Domnului a vorbit." 6 Un glas zice: „Strigă!" Și eu am răspuns: „Ce să strig?" „Orice*Iov 14:2.Ps. 90:5;102:11;103:15.Iac. 1:10.1 Pet. 1:24. făptură este ca iarba și toată strălucirea ei, ca floarea de pe câmp. 7 Iarba se usucă, floarea cade când suflă vântul*Ps. 103:16. Domnului peste ea." În adevăr, poporul este ca iarba: 8 iarba se usucă, floarea cade, dar cuvântul*Ioan 12:34.1 Pet. 1:25. Dumnezeului nostru rămâne în veac. 9 Suie-te pe un munte înalt, ca să vestești Sionului vestea cea bună; înalță-ți glasul cu putere, ca să vestești Ierusalimului vestea cea bună; înalță-ți glasul, nu te teme și spune cetăților lui Iuda: „Iată Dumnezeul vostru!" 10 Iată, Domnul Dumnezeu vine cu putere și poruncește cu brațul*Cap. 59:16. Lui. Iată că plata*Cap. 62:11.Apoc. 22:12. este cu El și răsplătirile vin înaintea Lui. 11 El Își va paște*Cap. 49:10.Ezec. 34:23;37:24.Ioan 10:11.Evr. 13:20.1 Pet. 2:25;5:4.Apoc. 7:17. turma ca un Păstor, va lua mieii în brațe, îi va duce la sânul Lui și va călăuzi blând oile care alăptează.

12 Cine*Prov. 30:4. a măsurat apele cu mâna lui? Cine a măsurat cerurile cu palma și a strâns țărâna pământului într-o treime de măsură? Cine a cântărit munții cu cântarul și dealurile, cu cumpăna? 13 Cine*Iov 21:22;36:22,23.Rom. 11:34.1 Cor. 2:16. a cercetat Duhul Domnului și cine L-a luminat cu sfaturile lui? 14 Cu cine S-a sfătuit El, ca să ia învățătură? Cine L-a învățat cărarea dreptății? Cine L-a învățat înțelepciunea și I-a făcut cunoscută calea priceperii? 15 Iată, neamurile sunt ca o picătură de apă din vadră, sunt ca praful pe o cumpănă; El ridică ostroavele ca un bob de nisip. 16 Libanul n-ajunge pentru foc și dobitoacele lui n-ajung pentru arderea-de-tot. 17 Toate neamurile sunt ca o nimica*Dan. 4:35. înaintea Lui, nu sunt decât*Ps. 62:9. nimicnicie și deșertăciune. 18 Cu cine voiți să asemănați*Vers. 25. Cap. 46:5.Fapte 17:29. pe Dumnezeu? Și cu ce asemănare Îl veți asemăna? 19 Meșterul*Cap. 41:6,7;44:12.Ier. 10:3. toarnă idolul și argintarul îl îmbracă cu aur și-i toarnă lănțișoare de argint. 20 Iar cine este sărac alege ca dar un lemn care nu putrezește; își caută un meșter iscusit, ca*Cap. 41:7.Ier. 10:4. să facă un idol care să nu se clatine. 21 Nu*Ps. 19:1.Fapte 14:17.Rom. 1:19,20. știți? N-ați auzit? Nu vi s-a făcut cunoscut de la început? Nu v-ați gândit niciodată la întemeierea pământului? 22 El șade deasupra cercului pământului și locuitorii lui sunt ca niște lăcuste înaintea Lui; El întinde*Iov 9:8.Ps. 104:2. Cap. 42:5;44:24;51:13.Ier. 10:12. cerurile ca o maramă subțire și le lățește ca un cort, ca să locuiască în el. 23 El preface într-o nimica pe voievozi*Iov 12:21.Ps. 107:40. și face o nimica din judecătorii pământului. 24 De-abia sunt sădiți, de-abia sunt semănați, de-abia li s-a înrădăcinat tulpina în pământ, și El suflă peste ei de se usucă și un vârtej îi ia ca pe niște paie. 25 „Cu*Vers. 18. cine Mă veți asemăna, ca să fiu deopotrivă cu el?", zice Cel Sfânt. 26 Ridicați-vă ochii în sus și priviți! Cine a făcut aceste lucruri? Cine a făcut să meargă după număr, în șir, oștirea lor? El le cheamă*Deut. 4:15.Ps. 147:4. pe toate pe nume; așa de mare e puterea și tăria Lui, că una nu lipsește. 27 Pentru ce zici tu, Iacove, pentru ce zici tu, Israele: „Soarta mea este ascunsă dinaintea Domnului și dreptul meu este trecut cu vederea înaintea Dumnezeului meu"? 28 Nu știi? N-ai auzit? Dumnezeul cel veșnic, Domnul, a făcut marginile pământului. El nu obosește, nici nu ostenește; priceperea*Ps. 147:5.Rom. 11:33. Lui nu poate fi pătrunsă. 29 El dă tărie celui obosit și mărește puterea celui ce cade în leșin. 30 Flăcăii obosesc și ostenesc, chiar tinerii se clatină, 31 dar cei ce se încred în Domnul își înnoiesc*Ps. 103:5. puterea; ei zboară ca vulturii; aleargă, și nu obosesc, umblă, și nu ostenesc.
