1 A Psalm of David.2 Fret not yourself because of the wicked, be not envious of wrongdoers!3 For they will soon fade like the grass, and wither like the green herb.4 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will dwell in the land, and enjoy security.5 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.6 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.7 He will bring forth your vindication as the light, and your right as the noonday.8 Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over him who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!9 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.10 For the wicked shall be cut off; but those who wait for the LORD shall possess the land.11 Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look well at his place, he will not be there.12 But the meek shall possess the land, and delight themselves in abundant prosperity.13 The wicked plots against the righteous, and gnashes his teeth at him;14 but the LORD laughs at the wicked, for he sees that his day is coming.15 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows, to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those who walk uprightly;16 their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.17 Better is a little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked.18 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but the LORD upholds the righteous.19 The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will abide for ever;20 they are not put to shame in evil times, in the days of famine they have abundance.21 But the wicked perish; the enemies of the LORD are like the glory of the pastures, they vanish--like smoke they vanish away.22 The wicked borrows, and cannot pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives;23 for those blessed by the LORD shall possess the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off.24 The steps of a man are from the LORD, and he establishes him in whose way he delights;25 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD is the stay of his hand.26 I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging bread.27 He is ever giving liberally and lending, and his children become a blessing.28 Depart from evil, and do good; so shall you abide for ever.29 For the LORD loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. The righteous shall be preserved for ever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.30 The righteous shall possess the land, and dwell upon it for ever.31 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.32 The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.33 The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.34 The LORD will not abandon him to his power, or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial.35 Wait for the LORD, and keep to his way, and he will exalt you to possess the land; you will look on the destruction of the wicked.36 I have seen a wicked man overbearing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.37 Again I passed by, and, lo, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found.38 Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the man of peace.39 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.40 The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their refuge in the time of trouble. [ (Psalms 37:41) The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked, and saves them, because they take refuge in him. ]

1 Não se aborreça por causa dos maus,

nem tenha inveja

dos que praticam o mal.

2 Pois eles vão desaparecer logo

como a erva, que seca;

eles morrerão como as plantas,

que murcham.

3 Confie em Deus, o Senhor, e faça o bem

e assim more com toda a segurança

na Terra Prometida.

4 Que a sua felicidade

esteja no Senhor!

Ele lhe dará

o que o seu coração deseja.

5 Ponha a sua vida

nas mãos do Senhor,

confie nele, e ele o ajudará.

6 Ele fará com que a sua honestidade

seja como a luz

e com que a justiça da sua causa

brilhe como o sol do meio-dia.

7 Não se irrite por causa

dos que vencem na vida,

nem tenha inveja

dos que conseguem realizar

os seus planos de maldade.

Tenha paciência,

pois o Senhor Deus cuidará disso.

8 Não fique com raiva,

não fique furioso.

Não se aborreça,

pois isso será pior para você.

9 Aqueles que confiam em Deus, o Senhor,

viverão em segurança

na Terra Prometida,

porém os maus serão destruídos.

10 Dentro de pouco tempo,

os maus desaparecerão;

você poderá procurá-los,

porém não os encontrará.

11 Mas os humildes viverão

em segurança na Terra Prometida

e terão alegria, prosperidade

e paz.

12 Os maus fazem planos contra os bons

e olham com ódio para eles.

13 O Senhor ri dos maus

porque sabe que o dia deles

está chegando.

14 Os maus puxam da espada

e curvam os seus arcos

para matar os pobres

e os necessitados

e para assassinarem

os que são honestos.

15 Mas os maus serão mortos

pelas suas próprias espadas,

e os seus arcos serão quebrados.

16 É melhor o pouco que os bons têm

do que as riquezas de muitos maus.

17 Pois o poder dos maus acabará,

mas o Senhor protege os bons.

18 Todos os dias o Senhor cuida

dos que são corretos;

a Terra Prometida será deles

para sempre.

19 Quando os tempos forem difíceis,

eles não sofrerão

e terão o que comer

em tempos de fome.

20 Porém os maus morrerão;

os inimigos de Deus, o Senhor,

desaparecerão como as flores

do campo,

sumirão como a fumaça.

21 Os maus pedem emprestado

e não pagam,

mas os bons são generosos em dar.

22 Aqueles que são abençoados por Deus

viverão em segurança

na Terra Prometida,

mas os que ele amaldiçoa

serão destruídos.

23 O Senhor nos guia

no caminho em que devemos andar

e protege aqueles cuja vida

é agradável a ele.

24 Se eles caírem, não ficarão caídos

porque o Senhor os ajudará

a se levantarem.

25 Fui moço e agora sou velho,

mas nunca vi um homem bom

abandonado por Deus

e nunca vi os seus filhos

mendigando comida.

26 Ele sempre é generoso

em dar e emprestar,

e os seus filhos são uma bênção.

27 Afaste-se do mal e faça o bem,

e você sempre morará

na Terra Prometida.

28 Pois o Senhor ama

aquilo que é direito e certo

e não abandona

os seus servos fiéis.

Ele sempre protege o seu povo,

mas os descendentes dos maus

serão destruídos.

29 Os bons possuirão a Terra Prometida

e sempre morarão nela.

30 Eles dizem coisas sábias

e sempre falam

o que é direito e certo.

31 Guardam no coração

a lei do seu Deus

e nunca se afastam dela.

32 Os maus espiam os bons

e procuram matá-los.

33 Porém o Senhor Deus

não abandonará os bons

nas mãos do inimigo;

e, quando forem julgados,

não deixará que sejam condenados.

34 Ponham a sua esperança

no Senhor

e obedeçam aos seus mandamentos.

Ele lhes dará a honra de possuírem

a Terra Prometida,

e vocês verão os maus

serem destruídos.

35 Vi um homem mau, um dominador cruel,

que era grandioso como um cedro

dos montes Líbanos.

36 Porém um dia passei por ali,

e ele já havia desaparecido;

eu o procurei,

porém não pude encontrá-lo.

37 Preste atenção nos bons,

e observe os honestos,

e você verá que as pessoas

que amam a paz

deixam descendentes.

38 Mas os que desobedecem

às leis de Deus

serão completamente destruídos,

e os seus descendentes desaparecerão.

39 O Senhor Deus salva do perigo

os que são bons

e os protege em tempos de aflição.

40 O Senhor os ajuda e livra;

e, porque eles procuram

a sua proteção,

ele os salva dos maus.
