A Miktam of David, when Saul sent men to watch his house in order to kill him.2 Deliver me from my enemies, O my God, protect me from those who rise up against me,3 deliver me from those who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men.4 For, lo, they lie in wait for my life; fierce men band themselves against me. For no transgression or sin of mine, O LORD,5 for no fault of mine, they run and make ready. Rouse thyself, come to my help, and see!6 Thou, LORD God of hosts, art God of Israel. Awake to punish all the nations; spare none of those who treacherously plot evil. [Selah]7 Each evening they come back, howling like dogs and prowling about the city.8 There they are, bellowing with their mouths, and snarling with their lips-- for "Who," they think, "will hear us?"9 But thou, O LORD, dost laugh at them; thou dost hold all the nations in derision.10 O my Strength, I will sing praises to thee; for thou, O God, art my fortress.11 My God in his steadfast love will meet me; my God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.12 Slay them not, lest my people forget; make them totter by thy power, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield!13 For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips, let them be trapped in their pride. For the cursing and lies which they utter,14 consume them in wrath, consume them till they are no more, that men may know that God rules over Jacob to the ends of the earth. [Selah]15 Each evening they come back, howling like dogs and prowling about the city.16 They roam about for food, and growl if they do not get their fill.17 But I will sing of thy might; I will sing aloud of thy steadfast love in the morning. For thou hast been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. 1 Ó meu Deus, livra-me

dos meus inimigos!

Protege-me daqueles que me atacam.

2 Salva-me dos homens maus;

livra-me desses assassinos.

3 Ó Senhor Deus, olha!

Eles estão esperando para me matar.

Homens cruéis estão fazendo planos

contra mim.

Mas não é por causa

de qualquer pecado

ou maldade que eu tenha feito,

4 nem por causa de alguma falta,

que eles têm pressa de me atacar.

5 Ó Senhor, Deus Todo-Poderoso,

levanta-te e vem me ajudar!

Vê, ó Deus de Israel!

Acorda e castiga as nações pagãs;

não tenhas pena

desses traidores e perversos.

6 Quando anoitece, eles voltam

e rodeiam a cidade,

rosnando como cachorros.

7 A língua deles fere como espada;

eles gritam insultos e ameaças

e pensam que ninguém está ouvindo.

8 Mas tu zombas deles, ó Senhor;

tu ris de todos os pagãos.

9 Ó Deus, eu confio no teu poder;

tu és a minha fortaleza.

10 Com o seu amor,

o meu Deus virá ao meu encontro;

ele fará com que eu veja

a derrota dos meus inimigos.

11 Ó Deus, não acabes de uma vez

com os meus inimigos

para que o meu povo não esqueça

da maldade deles!

Ó Senhor, nosso escudo, espalha-os

com o teu poder e derrota-os!

12 Todas as vezes que falam,

os meus inimigos pecam;

que eles sejam apanhados

no seu próprio orgulho!

Eles amaldiçoam e mentem;

13 por isso, peço que os destruas

quando estiveres irado,

e que sejam destruídos completamente.

Aí todos saberão

que Deus governa em Israel

e que o seu Reino

se estende pelo mundo inteiro.

14 De noite, os meus inimigos voltam

e rodeiam a cidade,

rosnando como cachorros.

15 Eles andam pela cidade

como cachorros,

procurando o que comer,

e uivam se não encontram

comida que chegue.

16 Porém eu cantarei

a respeito do teu poder;

de manhã louvarei bem alto o teu amor,

pois tu tens sido uma fortaleza

para mim,

um refúgio nos meus dias de aflição.

17 Eu te louvarei, ó Deus,

meu defensor!

Tu és a minha fortaleza,

tu és o Deus que me ama.
