1 A Prayer of David.2 Incline thy ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.3 Preserve my life, for I am godly; save thy servant who trusts in thee. Thou art my God;4 be gracious to me, O Lord, for to thee do I cry all the day.5 Gladden the soul of thy servant, for to thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.6 For thou, O Lord, art good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee.7 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; hearken to my cry of supplication.8 In the day of my trouble I call on thee, for thou dost answer me.9 There is none like thee among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like thine.10 All the nations thou hast made shall come and bow down before thee, O Lord, and shall glorify thy name.11 For thou art great and doest wondrous things, thou alone art God.12 Teach me thy way, O LORD, that I may walk in thy truth; unite my heart to fear thy name.13 I give thanks to thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify thy name for ever.14 For great is thy steadfast love toward me; thou hast delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.15 O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seek my life, and they do not set thee before them.16 But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.17 Turn to me and take pity on me; give thy strength to thy servant, and save the son of thy handmaid. [ (Psalms 86:18) Show me a sign of thy favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because thou, LORD, hast helped me and comforted me. ]

pois estou fraco e necessitado!

2 Salva-me da morte, pois sou fiel a ti;

salva-me porque sou teu servo

e confio em ti.

3 Tu és o meu Deus.

Tem compaixão de mim, Senhor,

pois eu oro a ti o dia inteiro!

4 Ó Senhor, alegra o coração

deste teu servo,

pois os meus pensamentos sobem a ti!

5 Ó Senhor, tu és bom e perdoador

e tens muito amor

por todos os que oram a ti.

6 Escuta, ó Senhor, a minha oração

e ouve os meus gritos pedindo socorro!

7 Em tempos de angústia eu te chamo,

pois tu me respondes.

8 Não há nenhum deus como tu, Senhor;

não há nenhum que possa fazer

o que tu fazes.

9 Todos os povos que criaste virão

e se curvarão diante de ti.

Eles louvarão a tua grandeza

10 porque tu és poderoso

e fazes coisas maravilhosas.

Só tu és Deus.

11 Ó Senhor Deus, ensina-me

o que queres que eu faça,

e eu te obedecerei fielmente!

Ensina-me a te servir

com toda a devoção.

12 Senhor, meu Deus, eu te louvarei

com todo o coração

e anunciarei a tua grandeza

para sempre.

13 Como é grande o teu amor por mim!

Tu não deixaste que eu fosse levado

para o fundo do mundo dos mortos.

14 Ó Deus, estou sendo atacado

por gente orgulhosa.

Um bando de pessoas violentas

está querendo me matar,

pessoas que não querem saber de ti.

15 Mas tu, Senhor, és Deus de compaixão

e de amor;

és sempre paciente, bondoso e fiel.

16 Olha de novo para mim

e tem misericórdia de mim;

dá-me a tua força e salva-me,

pois eu te sirvo,

como te serviu também a minha mãe.

17 Ó Senhor Deus, dá-me uma prova

da tua bondade!

Então os que me odeiam verão

que tu tens me ajudado e consolado

e ficarão envergonhados.
