1 To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David.2 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is thy name in all the earth! Thou whose glory above the heavens is chanted3 by the mouth of babes and infants, thou hast founded a bulwark because of thy foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.4 When I look at thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast established;5 what is man that thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that thou dost care for him?6 Yet thou hast made him little less than God, and dost crown him with glory and honor.7 Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet,8 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,9 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the sea. 1 Ó Senhor, Senhor nosso,

a tua grandeza é vista

no mundo inteiro.

O louvor dado a ti chega até o céu

2 e é cantado pelas crianças

e pelas criancinhas de colo.

Tu construíste uma fortaleza

para te proteger dos teus inimigos,

para acabar com todos

os que te desafiam.

3 Quando olho para o céu,

que tu criaste,

para a lua e para as estrelas,

que puseste nos seus lugares —

4 que é um simples ser humano

para que penses nele?

Que é um ser mortal

para que te preocupes com ele?

5 No entanto, fizeste o ser humano

inferior somente a ti mesmo

e lhe deste a glória e a honra

de um rei.

6 Tu lhe deste poder

sobre tudo o que criaste;

tu puseste todas as coisas

debaixo do domínio dele:

7 as ovelhas e o gado

e os animais selvagens também;

8 os pássaros e os peixes

e todos os seres que vivem no mar.

9 Ó Senhor, nosso Deus,

a tua grandeza é vista

no mundo inteiro.
