1 Ao mestre de canto. Com a gitiena. Salmo de Davi. Ó Senhor, nosso Deus, como é glorioso vosso nome em toda a terra! Vossa majestade se estende, triunfante, por cima de todos os céus.2 Da boca das crianças e dos pequeninos sai um louvor que confunde vossos adversários, e reduz ao silêncio vossos inimigos.3 Quando contemplo o firmamento, obra de vossos dedos, a lua e as estrelas que lá fixastes:4 Que é o homem, digo-me então, para pensardes nele? Que são os filhos de Adão, para que vos ocupeis com eles?5 Entretanto, vós o fizestes quase igual aos anjos, de glória e honra o coroastes.6 Destes-lhe poder sobre as obras de vossas mãos, vós lhe submetestes todo o universo.7 Rebanhos e gados, e até os animais bravios,8 pássaros do céu e peixes do mar, tudo o que se move nas águas do oceano.9 Ó Senhor, nosso Deus, como é glorioso vosso nome em toda a terra!

O LORD our Lord, how great [is] thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy praise above the heavens.2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;4 what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty.6 Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all [things] under his feet:7 all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;8 The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, [and whatever] passes through the paths of the seas.9 O LORD our Lord, how great [is] thy name in all the earth!:
