2 A minha alma tem sede de Deus,do Deus vivo. Quando poderei ir e pôr-me diante dele?3 As minhas lágrimas correm, noite e dia, porque andam sempre a zombar de mim perguntando: Mas por onde é que anda esse teu Deus?6 Contudo agora, aqui estou abatido, acabrunhado. Porém recordarei a tua bondade para com esta bela terra,onde corre o rio Jordão, e onde se situam os montes Hermon e Mizar.7 Tens permitido que ondas de tristeza,como vagas enormes tenham passado sobre mim,com a força de uma queda de água.8 Mas derramará, o dia inteiro, a sua misericórdia sobre mim, e durante toda a noite eu canto para Deuse faço oração ao Deus da minha vida.10 Os seus insultos ferem-me como uma chaga mortal,e passam todo o tempo repetindo-me: Onde é que anda esse teu Deus?11 Porque estás abatida, minha alma? Porque ficas perturbada? Confia em Deus! Pois que ainda o louvarei.Ele é a minha salvação! Ele é o meu Deus!

As a doe pants after the water brooks, So my soul pants after you, O God.2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: When shall I come and see the face of God?3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, Where is your God?4 These things I remember, and pour out my soul inside me, How I went with the throng, and led them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping holyday.5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And [why] are you disquieted inside me? Hope in God; for I will yet praise him, My salvation6 and my God. My soul is cast down inside me: Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, And the Hermons, from the hill Mizar.7 Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls: All your waves and your billows have gone over me.8 [Yet] Yahweh will command his loving-kindness in the daytime; And in the night his song will be with me, [Even] a prayer to the God of my life.9 I will say to God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?10 With a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, While they continually say to me, Where is your God?11 Why are you cast down, O my soul?
