1 Eu permaneço tranquilo diante de Deus, visto que só dele vem a minha salvação.2 Só ele é a minha rocha, o meu libertador e o meu defensor. Não me hei-de perturbar quando vierem as aflições.3 Até quando continuarão vocês a tramar o mal contra mim, numa altura em que o meu trono está instável; quando deixarão de querer derrubá-lo como uma parede, ou uma vedação pouco segura? Deleitam-se na mentira, com a boca dizem o bem, e no íntimo estão a amaldiçoar.5 Mas eu permaneço tranquilo diante de Deus, visto que só dele vem a minha salvação.6 Só ele é a minha rocha, o meu libertador e o meu defensor. Não me hei-de perturbar quando chegarem as aflições.7 De Deus vem a minha salvação e aquilo que faz o meu êxito. Ele é a rocha que me serve de fortaleza. Sim, o meu refúgio está em Deus.9 Sem dúvida que tanto as pessoas de alta condição como as das mais baixas camadas sociais, ambas são igualmente como nada aos olhos de Deus. Pesam menos que o ar numa balança.10 Não penses que podes prosperar por meio da opressão. Não fiques satisfeito com o que não passa de roubo. Se a tua fortuna aumentar, não lhe entregues o teu coração.11 Deus disse uma coisa que tenho ouvido repetidas vezes, que o verdadeiro poder só a ele pertence.12 E além disso ele é bom e nos recompensa segundo o que fazemos para ele.
