2 Lava-me completamente da minha culpa. Purifica-me do meu pecado.3 Porque reconheço a minha acção vergonhosa, que aliás não me sai do pensamento.4 Foi contra ti, somente contra ti, que eu pequei, e fiz essa coisa tão baixa aos teus olhos. As tuas palavras são verdadeiras e o teu julgamento é justo.5 Eu nasci pecador, sim, desde o momento em que a minha mãe me concebeu.6 Tu ficas satisfeito quando há verdade e sinceridade no coração. Oh! Dá-me essa sabedoria!7 Esparge-me com o sangue purificador e ficarei de novo limpo. Lava-me e serei mais branco do que a neve.8 Depois de me teres castigado, devolve-me a alegria, mais uma vez.9 Não fiques lembrado dos meus pecados; apaga-os da tua vista.10 Cria em mim, ó Deus, um coração limpo, e dá-me uma mente renovada e firme.11 Não me afastes da tua presença; não me prives do teu Santo Espírito.12 Dá-me novamente a alegria da tua salvação; quero obedecer-te decididamente.13 Poderei assim ensinar os teus caminhos aos transgressores; e os pecadores voltar-se-ão para ti.14 Não me condenes à morte, meu Deus. Só tu me podes livrar. Cantarei intensamente a tua justiça.15 Abre-me os lábios, e a minha boca te louvará plenamente.16 Tu não te satisfazes com sacrifícios de penitência; se não, eu tos faria de bom grado. Não estás interessado em holocaustos de animais.17 Para ti o verdadeiro sacrifício é um espírito rendido a teus pés e arrependido. Um coração humilhado e magoado tu não desprezarás, ó Deus.18 Abençoa o teu povo de Israel, segundo a tua boa vontade, e protege Jerusalém.19 Tu te agradarás de todo o bem que eu fizer e dos sacrifícios que te oferecer sobre o teu altar.

1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David; when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your loving-kindness: According to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions.2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.3 For I know my transgressions; And my sin is ever before me.4 Against you, you only, I have sinned, And done that which is evil in your sight; That you may be justified when you speak, And be clear when you judge.5 Look, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.6 Look, you desire truth in the inward parts; And in the hidden part you will make me to know wisdom.7 Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean: Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.8 Make me to hear joy and gladness, That the bones which you have broken may rejoice.9 Hide your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities.10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit inside me.11 Don't cast me away from your presence; And don't take your holy Spirit from me.12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation; And uphold me with a willing spirit.13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways; And sinners will be converted to you.14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, God of my salvation; [And] my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.15 O Lord, open you my lips; And my mouth will show forth your praise.16 For you do not delight in sacrifice; or else I would give it: You have no pleasure in burnt-offering.17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.18 Do good in your good pleasure to Zion: Build the walls of Jerusalem.19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, In burnt-offering and in whole burnt-offering: Then they will offer bullocks on your altar.
